Limits of detection (LODs) of 2.24, 5.29, and 2.03 μM and recoveries in the ranges 98.3 to 101.8%, 99.5 to 104.6%, and 97.4 to 100.9% were estimated for the determination of Hg2+ in the fruit bodies of Pleurotus ostreatus, Lentinus edodes, and Hypsizygus marmoreus, respectively. Chitosan-CDs-RhB was further developed as a fluorescent ratiometric probe for quantitatively determining intracellular Hg2+ in fungal mycelia with a linear calibration curve of RIgreen/Ired = - 0.145c + 1.69 within the range 0.013 to 0.356 μg g-1. The aim of this study was to evaluate and compare the biomechanics of the crossed and parallel rod configurations in the screw rod system for posterior atlantoaxial fixation on a cadaveric model.

Six fresh cervical specimens were used to complete the range of motion (ROM) testing by applying pure moments of ± 2.0nm. Following intactstate and under destabilization testing, screws were implanted. The specimens were then tested in the following sequence Group BLS + PR (C2 bilateral laminar screws + parallel rod), Group BLS + CR (C2 bilateral laminar screws + crossed rod), LPRLS + PR (C2 left pedicle screw a C1 bilateral pedicle and C2 pedicle, or C2 lamina screws. The crossed rod can also improve the stability of the screw rod system made up of C1 bilateral pedicle and C2 lamina screws in lateral bending and extension. The crossed rod configuration is reliable and provides superior stability for clinical application.
Familial Dysautonomia (FD) disease, lacks a useful biomarker for clinical monitoring. In this longitudinal study we characterized the structural changes in the macula, peripapillary and the optic nerve head (ONH) regions in subjects with FD.

Data was consecutively collected from subjects attending the FD clinic between 2012 and 2019. All subjects were imaged with spectral-domain Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT). Global and sectoral measurements of mean retinal nerve fiber layer (RNFL) and macular ganglion cell and inner plexiform layer (GCIPL) thickness, and ONH parameters of rim area, average cup-to-disc (CD) ratio, and cup volume were used for the analysis. The best fit models (linear, quadratic and broken stick linear model) were used to describe the longitudinal change in each of the parameters.

91 subjects (149 eyes) with FD of ages 5-56years were included in the analysis. The rate of change for average RNFL and average GCIPL thicknesses were significant before reaching a plateau at the age of 26.2 for RNFL and 24.8 for GCIPL (- 0.861µm/year (95% CI - 1.026, - 0.693) and - 0.553µm/year (95% CI - 0.645, - 0.461), respectively). Significant linear rate of progression was noted for all ONH parameters, except for a subset of subjects (24%), with no cupping that did not show progression in any of the ONH parameters.

The rapidly declining RNFL and GCIPL can explain the progressive visual impairment previously reported in these subjects. Among all structural parameters, ONH parameters might be most suitable for longitudinal follow-up, in eyes with a measurable cup.
