Twenty-four type 2 diabetic patients (T2DM) with Obstructive sleep apnea syndrome (OSAS) (mean age 55.0 ± 9.0 years; BMI 29.5 ± 5.2 kg/m
) were admitted and kept under diet control for 2 days, then underwent 2 overnight polysomnographies a diagnostic study and one with CPAP titration. Then they were treated by CPAP during sleep for the following three nights. Participants were divided into subgroup D (only diet control) and subgroup M (with DM medication). CGMS was utilized over the last five days. Glucose control was also assessed with plasma insulin and a clinical measure of insulin resistance (HOMA-IR) index.

The mean (±SD) apnea-hypopnea index (AHI) at diagnostic polysomnography was 51.2 ± 22.4 (range 10-88) events/h. CPAP treatment in the subjects with OSAS resulted in the index of oxygenation desaturations being reduced fr sensitivity. Glucose variability was reduced but only in the patients with diet control.
Venous thromboembolism (VTE) is the third most common cause of cardiovascular death worldwide, following coronary heart disease and stroke, and many risk factors for VTE are not yet clear. Our study investigated the association between multiple inflammatory gene polymorphisms and VTE prognosis, aiming to find a new predictor of VTE prognosis.

Based on our previous studies, we detected the plasma levels of serum amyloid A protein (SAA), interleukin-1 (IL-1) and tumor necrosis factor-a (TNF-a) and their 8 gene polymorphisms by ELISA and a multiplex ligation detection reaction (iMLDR) method in 284 patients with VTE. All subjects were followed up for 5 years.

The 5-year follow-up results of this study showed that 62 of the 284 patients (21.83%) had reached the endpoint (all-cause death). Kaplan-Meier survival analyses revealed that the mortality rate of VTE patients with a high Simplified Pulmonary Embolism Severity Index (SPESI) score and carrying IL-1 rs1800587 mutation genotypes was significantly increasociated with a lower mortality rate. We report a case of a 20-year-old woman with autosomal dominant OP who developed a subtrochanteric femoral fracture. Although technical difficulties were experienced and an intraoperative femoral neck fracture occurred, the surgical outcome was satisfactory. Union of the fractures was visible on radiographs obtained 12 months postoperatively. At 2 years postoperatively, the patient was completely free of any complications resulting from her injury and treatment.

Open reduction and internal fixation may be an effective option for fractures in patients with OP.
