Videofluoroscopy (VFSS) is a frequently used radiological investigation for dysphagia and is conducted within a radiology setting by speech and language therapists (SLTs) working alongside imaging personnel (radiologists and/or radiographers). Previous surveys of SLT practice have reported variability in VFSS protocols and procedures. The aim of this study was to explore current clinical practice for VFSS from the perspective of imaging personnel engaged in VFSS within the United Kingdom.

A comprehensive online survey enabled exploration of current practices of imaging professionals. Target participants were diagnostic imaging personnel (radiographers and radiologists) with experience of working in VFSS clinics. Descriptive statistics describe and summarise the data alongside inferential statistics where appropriate.

In the Arab world, little is known about cancer patient's satisfaction with the care provided by the oncology nurses. The only explanation for this dearth of knowledge is lack of a specified, valid and reliable tool that can be utilized with all types of cancer. This regional study was conducted to translate and validate the Arabic version of quality of oncology nursing care scale (QONCS).

Brislin's model of translation was used with a cross-sectional, cross-cultural and psychometric design. A convenience sample of 517 from three countries (Jordan, Oman and Egypt) completed the study's surveys.

The results indicated that the total QONCS-Ar was reliable with Cronbach's alpha 0.88 and 0.84, 0.87, 0.83, 0.89 and 0.86 for being supported and confirmed, with the religious and spiritual care, belonging, being valued and being respected domains respectively. Exploratory factor analysis supported the dimensional structure of the 34-item scale with five domains with Kaiser-Meyer-Oklin (KMO) measuring 0.872 and Bartlett's Test of Sphericity being significant (significant p<0.001) CONCLUSION QONCS-Ar is a relatively short, valid, reliable and easy to use instrument that can be applied with all types of cancer, research and educational institutions in the Arabic region.

Studies on the value of a staging laparoscopy in detecting metastases in gastric cancer patients show great variation. This study investigates the avoidable surgery rate in patients with and without a staging laparoscopy scheduled for surgery with curative intent.

This population-based cohort study included all patients with an intentional resection for a potentially curable gastric adenocarcinoma, between 2011 and 2016, registered in the Dutch Upper GI Cancer audit. Patients with and without a staging laparoscopy were compared. The primary outcome was the avoidable surgery rate (detection of metastases and/or locoregional non-resectable tumor during intentional gastrectomy). Secondary outcomes were the negative predictive value, postoperative morbidity and pathology parameters.

2849 patients who underwent an intentional gastrectomy were included. 414 of 2849 (14.5%) patients underwent a staging laparoscopy before initiation of treatment. The avoidable surgery rate was 16.2% in the staging laparoscopy gg metastases or locoregional non-resectability in this patient group.This study aims to explore the spectroscopic properties of a Sr1.0Ba2.0B6O120.5Sm3+ phosphor synthesized using the solid-state reaction method. The morphology and elemental composition of the phosphor were determined using scanning electron microscopy and energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy, respectively. Phase changes and crystallite phases in the phosphor were studied using differential-scanning calorimetry and X-ray diffraction, respectively. Raman and Fourier-transform infrared spectra were used to identify the molecular vibrations in the phosphor. The energy bandgap and bonding nature of the phosphor were analyzed using the absorption spectrum. The nephelauxetic ratios determined from the absorption peaks revealed the presence of both ionic and covalent bonding in the phosphor. Judd-Ofelt parameters, along with radiative properties of the phosphor, were evaluated using the peaks in the absorption spectrum. Colorimetric analysis using the photoluminescence spectrum showed that the Sr1.0Ba2.0B6O120.5Sm3+ phosphor emits a cool-white light. The higher values of the spectroscopic quality factor, stimulated-emission cross-section, quantum efficiency, and the white-light emission of the phosphor suggest that Sr1.0Ba2.0B6O120.5Sm3+ is useful for display and lighting applications.The developed spectrofluorimetric method was successfully applied to the analysis of brigatinib (BRG) in its bulk powder form, and human urine sample. It is based on the investigation of the fluorescence spectrum behavior of the BRG-eosin Y complex. The relative fluorescence intensity (RFI) was recorded at 560 nm after excitation at 480 nm. The principle of the proposed method was thoroughly explained. All experimental parameters affecting method development were optimized. Moreover, the obtained results were fully discussed and statistically analyzed. The molar ratio method was applied to study the stoichiometric relationship between BRG and eosin Y complex. The method revealed a ratio of 13 for BRG-eosin Y afforded the highest RFI. The developed method was validated over the concentration range of 62.5-4000 ng mL-1. The results were compared positively with the reported method.
