How to Repair Common Oven Parts
The oven is a kitchen appliance that is typically used to cook food items. The heat from the oven sterilizes foods and kills most of the micro-organisms in them.
Every baker needs an accurate oven thermometer. Understanding how your oven works will improve your baking and roasting abilities and eliminate those irritated hot spots that wreak havoc with cookies, cakes and other baked products.
Thermostat
The thermostat is among the most vital components of your oven, helping to ensure that the temperature of your food matches what you've set on the control panel. Unfortunately, like any other electronic mechanical switch or sensor, it can sometimes have problems that result in the oven going over heat or under heat, or just not be able to keep the temperature at the level you've set.
The oven thermostat is tiny strips of two different metals that are bonded. When heated the various metals expand and contract at different rates, forming or breaking an electrical circuit. When the metal in your thermostat reaches the temperature that you have set on your control panel it will turn off the heating element's power. As the oven cools down the bimetallic strip expands, re-establishing the circuit and turning on the heating element. It is necessary to disconnect the oven and all screws removed to diagnose the problem with the thermostat. If you own a multimeter (which is a tool that analyzes electrical current) set it to the ohms setting, and then test the thermostat. If the multimeter reads zero or very close to it the thermostat is operating properly and doesn't need to be replaced.
If the multimeter does not read anything, then the thermostat is defective and needs to be replaced. Bake Element
Ovens are not complete without the bake element which creates heat to make your oven cook food. It's a simple component that transforms electricity into high temperatures for baking, roasting, and broiling. Heating elements are usually found in electric ovens and ranges, and they can be either uncovered or hidden under the floor of the oven.
In general, oven heating elements are constructed from high-resistance components like nickel-chromium alloy. They work by converting electrical energy into heat using resistance. oven hob radiates through the interior of the oven to attain the desired temperature to cook different kinds of food.
When you switch on your oven the heating element gets to work by generating heat by the high-voltage electricity flowing across its metal surface. Connect your multimeter to its red and black ports. Then, press the probes made of steel on one end of the element to each other. Place the other end of the baking element against one terminal and then place your hand on it. If the element feels warm, take it off it and try testing it again. If it's not, take off the element and try again.
Broil Element
The broil element is usually located in the upper part of the oven and can provide high heat like a grill to brown or char food items. The broil setting in your oven is a great option for quickly searing meat and vegetables, crisping up vegetables, warming lasagna, or making caramel on top of a casserole.
Similar to the bake element, the broiler heating element converts electrical energy into heat via the process of resistance. It is comprised of an inner core of wires made of metal wrapped in an insulating expanded perlite material. The core of the element is then covered with an outer layer of stainless steel to shield the wires from direct contact with the oven. The three-layer structure reduces the temperature of the broil element making it more durable and safer than older types of elements.
While you can use any heating element in your oven, make sure to choose one that is in line with the rated wattage of your oven. A different wattage can cause damage to your oven or cause it overheat. You can verify the power of your oven as well as the rating of the new heating element by checking their voltage and current ratings on the control panel of your oven.
Examine the resistance of your old element, and then compare it to the wattage ratings of the new one. The greater the resistance, the greater energy an oven element consumes.
If your broiler's heating element is acting up or doesn't work in any way, you should replace it immediately. Your oven must work correctly to be able to cook your favorite meals. If your oven does not function at all, or only intermittently, then the issue could be in a different part.
Light Bulb and Assembly

Remove the glass casing from the bulb before you replace it. It's crucial to take this step slowly to ensure that you don't damage it. You'll have to remove the air from the bulb and replace it with an appropriate mixture. This will provide a longer life for the filament.

Vent Tube
The vent tube is an important oven part that allows for an airflow within the cavity. This allows the bake element to circulate heat throughout the oven, ensuring that the temperature is evenly distributed.
It also allows the vapors to escape from the oven and smoke to be drained from the cooking surface. It is vital for the efficient operation of any gas or electric oven.
Oven vent tubes can become clogged or blocked by several reasons. Accidental spills and splatters during cooking can leave sticky residues on the oven vents, which draw dust and other debris that could eventually cause obstructions or blockages over time. Oil and grease particles can become airborne and settle on the vents, too. Other environmental factors, like kitchen renovations and construction work, could introduce dust or other pollutants into the vents, leading to clogs or blockages.
Depending on the model of the oven the vent tube could comprise a spreader 46 and the fill tip 12, and a bottle guide 20 that are incorporated into the pipe 32. A blocked or clogged vent tube can result in a loss of pressure within the enclosing structure.
