scabies is a contagious ectoparasite of the skin. It is caused by the mite Sarcoptes scabiei var. hominis that causes a pruritic skin eruption. It was estimated that more than 300 million cases of scabies occur worldwide every year. It remains one of the commonest skin diseases seen in developing countries including Ethiopia. Therefore, the main aim of this study is to determine scabies prevalence and its associated factors among less than 15 years children in Wadila district, Northern Ethiopia.

SPSS version 23.0 was used for analysis and bivariable logistic regression was computed and variables having p < 0.25 was modelled in multi-variable logistic regression to control confounders. During the initial phases of this closure, most institutions were at a loss on how to proceed with learning as universities in Nigeria use mainly the didactic lecturing model. However, the concurrent occurrence of acute appendicitis with a heterotopic pregnancy is a rare event and presents diagnostic challenges to unsuspecting clinicians and sonographers. We present a case of a woman who had a heterotopic pregnancy and was noted to have a gangrenous appendicitis at laparotomy, illustrating how a diagnosis of acute appendicitis could easily be missed in pregnancy. We report the case of a 34-year-old woman in the first trimester of pregnancy who had a missed diagnosis of acute appendicitis after she had complained of vague abdominal symptoms for three weeks. She presented to a gynaecologist with vaginal bleeding for three days and was noted to have a heterotopic pregnancy on ultrasound scan. At laparotomy, she was noted to have a gangrenous appendicitis with pyoperitoneum concurrent with a ruptured left fimbrial ectopic pregnancy. Left salpingectomy and saline lavage were done and she had uneventful post-operative recovery. Unsuspecting clinicians, in patients without risk factors, can miss both heterotopic pregnancy and acute appendicitis. As assisted reproductive techniques become widespread, the possibility of heterotopic pregnancies must always be considered and any patient who presents with vague abdominal symptoms must be suspected to have the possibility of acute appendicitis. Because of the unreliability of laboratory investigations and clinical predictive scores in pregnancy, sonographers must be specifically asked to scan for heterotopic pregnancy and appendicitis in suspected cases.Deep Hypothermic Circulatory Arrest (DHCA) is a technique used to obtain optimal operating conditions while providing cerebral protection. The case report presented a DHCA on an infant that was basically done as an emergency in an attempt to correct a previously unrecognized anomaly. We report a case of a 1-year-old that had surgery for Ventricular Septal Defect (VSD) and Patent Ductus Arteriosus (PDA) ligation but following closure was noted to have no palpable peripheral pulses, only carotid pulsation. This necessitated an emergency reopening of the chest. Close inspection revealed an interrupted aortic arch with aberrant right subclavian artery and pre-surgery PDA supplying both upper and lower limb. DHCA was immediately commenced and the patient cooled to 16°C. The surgeon promptly set out to attach the subclavian artery to the ascending aorta and descending aorta. At the completion of the surgery, the patient was taken to Intensive Care Unit (ICU) for critical care support. She was subsequently discharged after spending a little more than a week in ICU. This procedure is rarely done as an emergency but was instituted in our case in effort to immediately achieve perfusion to the limbs. As the expertise to carry out the procedure is limited, it might be better to develop ways to efficiently ensure the skill set is continually updated.A case of thanatophoric dysplasia with sudden death at term is hereby presented. Thanatophoric dysplasia is an uncommon, lethal skeletal dysplasia which is associated with mutation in the extracellular region of fibroblast growth factor receptor 3 (FGFR3). It is an autosommal dominant condition that has sporadic occurrence and early ultrasound scan has not been of great benefit in its detection. Diagnosis is mostly made in the third trimester. The fetal death is usually due to severe respiratory insufficiency from a reduced thoracic capacity and hypoplastic lungs and/or respiratory failure due to brainstem compression. In view of the autosomal dominance of TD, it will be advisable for a woman with previous history to have prenatal screening to relieve parental anxiety and prevent late detection.
