AMI still has a poor prognosis with an in-hospital mortality rate of 50-69 %. This high mortality rate is related to the delay in diagnosis which is often diffucult and overlooked. Early intervention is crucial and the potential for intestinal viability. <br><b>Methods</b> The charts of 140 patients who were hospitalazed with AMI between May 1997 and August 2013 in Ege University Faculty of Medicine, department of general surgery were retrospectively reviewed. Pilonidal sinus is a disease affecting young age group. Numerous surgical methods have been described in the treatment of pilonidal sinus disease. Currently, there is no treatment method providing a rapid recovery with low recurrence risk.

In this study, we aimed to evaluate the results of our patients who underwent Karydakis surgery.

Results of 112 patients operated between 2012 and 2019 were retrospectively evaluated. Only the patients who underwent Karydakis surgery were included in the study.

Of all patients, 20 were female and 92 were male. The mean age was 21 years in the female and 20.8 years in the male patients. The mean BMI was 29.6 Kg/m2. Thye patients were followed up for mean 28 months. Postoperative length of stay in hospital was 2.1 days. The complications included wound dehiscence by 10.2%, infection by 3.6%, and bleeding (hematome) by 7.1%. Four patients developed recurrence during follow up.

Daily new COVID-19 cases from January to April 2020 demonstrate varying patterns of SARS-CoV-2 transmission across different geographical regions. Constant infection rates were observed in some countries, whereas China and South Korea had a very low number of daily new cases. In fact, China and South Korea successfully and quickly flattened their COVID-19 curve. To understand why this was the case, this paper investigated possible aerosol-forming patterns in the atmosphere and their relationship to the policy measures adopted by select countries.

The main research objective was to compare the outcomes of policies adopted by countries between January and April 2020. Policies included physical distancing measures that in some cases were associated with mask use and city disinfection. We investigated whether the type of social distancing framework adopted by some countries (ie, without mask use and city disinfection) led to the continual dissemination of SARS-CoV-2 (daily new cases) in the community during the study period.
