All procedures were technically successful. The median follow up was 28.7 months (range 7-78). No 30 day mortality was observed. Three patients developed post-procedure adverse events. Of these, two patients had neurological events, with one each having cerebrovascular and spinal cord infarction individually, and the third patient required long term haemodialysis with ventilator support. The overall survival rate was 100%. The maximum diameter of the AA and the IMH in the AA significantly decreased after TEVAR. Aortic remodelling was also observed in the DTA along the length of TEVAR coverage.

Radical excision of retroperitoneal or intra-abdominal soft tissue sarcomas may necessitate vessel resection and reconstruction. The aim of this study was to assess surgical results of retroperitoneal or intra-abdominal sarcomas involving major blood vessels.

Vascular reconstruction was performed in 17 patients, 11 of whom required arterial reconstructions. The rupture of abdominal aortic aneurysms (AAAs) is associated with high mortality despite surgical developments. The determination of aneurysm diameter allows for follow up of aneurysm growth but fails in precisely predicting aneurysm rupture. In this study, time resolved three dimensional ultrasound (4D ultrasound) based wall motion indices (WMIs) are investigated to see if they are capable of distinguishing between uneven affected regions of the aneurysm wall.

In a prospective study, 56 patients with an AAA were examined using 4D ultrasound. Local longitudinal, circumferential, and shear strains were computed using custom methods. The deformation of the neck and sac of each aneurysm was characterised by statistical indices of the obtained distributions of local wall strains (WMIs) mean and peak strain, heterogeneity index, and local strain ratio. The locations of regions with highest local peak strain were determined.

Compared with the aneurysm neck, the sac is characterised by low mean strain, but h distinction of diseased tissue in the AAA sac and the less affected neck region. This is a promising step towards the establishment of new biomarkers to differentiate between the mechanical instability of the AAA and rupture risk.
Vaccination of pregnant women against hepatitis A virus (HAV) or hepatitis B virus (HBV) may benefit the mother and the fetus but is not routinely recommended. However, the risk associated with vaccination should be weighed against the risk of HAV or HBV infection. Data on safety profiles after hepatitis A, B or combined AB immunization during pregnancy are limited.

We searched the GSK Worldwide Safety Database for adverse events (AEs) following immunization of pregnant women with HAV (Havrix, GSK), HBV (Engerix-B, GSK) or the combined hepatitis AB (Twinrix, GSK) vaccine since market authorization through 31 January 2018, covering at least 25years. AE reports (spontaneous, post-marketing surveillance and clinical trial cases) in the GSK Worldwide Safety Database were identified using a systematic search and were reviewed by clinicians to ascertain pregnancy status at time of vaccination and characterize adverse pregnancy outcomes, including pregnancy-related AEs and AEs in infants regardless of the causality assessment.

Overall, 613, 700 and 363 pregnancies with exposure to Havrix, Engerix-B and Twinrix, respectively, were reported. Of these, 378, 339 and 194 were analyzed. The most frequently identified pregnancy outcomes were live infants (288, 223 and 151), spontaneous abortions (43, 57 and 26) and elective terminations (25, 24 and 9). A total of 19, 29 and 10 cases of congenital anomalies were reported. Of these, 17, 20 and 7 were major birth defects. The most commonly reported pregnancy-related AE and AE in infants were premature delivery (28) and jaundice (11), respectively. No maternal deaths were reported. Congenital anomalies were reported in all recorded infant deaths.

However, in Salvador, the fourth largest capital in Brazil, an extended catch-up campaign was conducted earlier in that year, which focused on adolescents and young adults aged 10-24 years. To evaluate the long-term impact of MenC vaccination, we analyzed hospital-based surveillance data on cases of meningococcal disease in the Salvador metropolitan region during the pre-vaccine (2005-2009) and post-vaccine (2011-2016) campaign periods. Six years after the introduction of the MenC vaccine, the mean incidence rate decreased from 3.20 to 0.93 cases per 100,000 individuals (71% reduction, 95% CI [58.7-83.3]) in children 25 years (p less then 0.05). At the end of the study period, serogroup C was the most prevalent (65.7%), followed by serogroups B (9.8%), W (2.3%), Y (1.6%) and A (1.0%); serogrouping was not possible in 19.6% of the cases, or adequate material was not available for serogroup identification.
