The cost-effectiveness of trivalent (TIV) versus quadrivalent influenza vaccine (QIV) in Argentina was assessed. An age-stratified, static, decision-tree model compared the costs and benefits of vaccination for an average influenza season. Main outcomes included numbers of influenza cases; general practitioner (GP) visits; complicated ambulatory cases; hospitalizations; deaths averted; and costs per quality-adjusted life years (QALYs) gained. Epidemiological data from Argentina for 2014-2019 were used to determine the proportion of A and B strain cases, and the frequency of mismatch between vaccine and circulating B strains. To manage uncertainty, one-way and probabilistic sensitivity analyses were performed. Switching from TIV to QIV would prevent 19,128 influenza cases, 16,164 GP visits, 2440 complicated ambulatory cases, 524 hospitalizations, and 82 deaths. Incremental cost-effectiveness ratios (ICERs) per QALY were 13,590 and 11,678 USD from the payer's and societal perspectives, respectively. The greatest health benefits and direct medical cost savings would occur in ≥ 65-year-olds. One-way sensitivity analyses demonstrated the principal drivers of ICER to be vaccine acquisition costs, environmental B strain predominance, and B strain mismatch. Introducing QIV in Argentina would be beneficial and cost-effective relative to TIV, particularly in older adults.With the introduction of modern sophisticated radiotherapy (RT) techniques, the significance of accuracy has increased considerably. This study evaluated the necessity of pre-treatment and intra-fractional cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) by analyzing inter- and intra-fractional CBCT images of breast cancer patients receiving RT. From 57 patients, 1206 pre-treatment CBCT and 1067 intra-fractional CBCT images were collected. Geometric movements of patients were measured quantitively in both inter- and intra-fractional CBCT, and changes in dosimetric parameters were evaluated in selected patients with extreme intra-fractional movement. For right-sided breast cancer patients, left-sided breast cancer patients treated using deep-inspiration breath hold (DIBH), and left-sided breast cancer patients treated using continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP), median inter-fractional deviations were 0.53 (range 0.06-2.98) cm, 0.66 (range 0.08-4.41) cm, and 0.69 (range 0.04-3.80) cm, and median intra-fractional deviations were 0.14 (range 0.00-0.62) cm, 0.23 (range 0.02-0.96) cm, and 0.24 (0.00-1.15) cm, respectively. Modified plans reflecting large changes in intra-fractional position in 10 selected cases revealed insufficient target coverage in seven cases and more than 20-fold increase in the volume of heart receiving at least 25 Gy in two cases. Intra-fractional verification, as well as pre-treatment verification, might be considered in patients using DIBH or CPAP.To overcome the drawbacks of pairwise registration for mobile laser scanner (MLS) point clouds, such as difficulty in searching the corresponding points and inaccuracy registration matrix, a robust coarse-to-fine registration method is proposed to align different frames of MLS point clouds into a common coordinate system. The method identifies the correct corresponding point pairs from the source and target point clouds, and then calculates the transform matrix. First, the performance of a multiscale eigenvalue statistic-based descriptor with different combinations of parameters is evaluated to identify the optimal combination. Second, based on the geometric distribution of points in the neighborhood of the keypoint, a weighted covariance matrix is constructed, by which the multiscale eigenvalues are calculated as the feature description language. Third, the corresponding points between the source and target point clouds are estimated in the feature space, and the incorrect ones are eliminated via a geometric consistency constraint. The value of coarse registration is regarded as the initial value for the iterative closest point algorithm. Subsequently, the final fine registration result is obtained. Nonetheless, their application in PD has been limited due mainly to the technical challenges resulting from the scarcity of postmortem brain tissue and low quality associated with RNA degradation. Despite such challenges, recent advances in animals and human in vitro models that recapitulate features of PD along with sequencing assays have fueled studies aiming to obtain an unbiased and global view of cellular composition and phenotype of PD at the single-cell resolution. Here, we reviewed recent sc/snRNA-seq efforts that have successfully characterized diverse cell-type populations and identified cell type-specific disease associations in PD. We also examined how these studies have employed computational and analytical tools to analyze and interpret the rich information derived from sc/snRNA-seq. Finally, we highlighted important limitations and emerging technologies for addressing key technical challenges currently limiting the integration of new findings into clinical practice.
