It is critical that dermatology training prepares physicians to recognize cutaneous changes in skin of color populations. Patch testing is the gold standard for identifying triggers of contact dermatitis and can be challenging to interpret in skin of color given the need to see erythema, particularly for a 1 + positive interpretation. Given the paucity of clinical images of skin of color in the literature, we provide images of two pediatric patients presenting with positive patch tests to demonstrate an approach to the clinical interpretation of patch testing in patients with more melanin in the skin.We describe advances in the understanding of brain dynamics that are important for understanding the operation of the cerebral cortex in health and disease. Peaks in the resting state fMRI BOLD signal in many different brain areas can become synchronized. In data from 1,017 participants from the Human Connectome Project, we show that early visual and connected areas have the highest probability of synchronized peaks. We show that these cortical areas also have low temporal variability of their functional connectivity. We show that there is an approximately reciprocal relation between the probability that a brain region will be involved in synchronized peaks and the temporal variability of the connectivity of a brain region. We show that a high probability of synchronized peaks and a low temporal variability of the connectivity of cortical areas are related to high mean functional connectivity, and provide an account of how these dynamics with some of the properties of avalanches arise. These discoveries help to advance our understanding of cortical operation in health, and in some mental disorders including schizophrenia.
Long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) small nucleolar RNA host gene 15 (SNHG15) has been discovered and demonstrated to have significant function in multiple cancers. Nevertheless, how it participates in the progression of oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) and its potential regulatory system are still unclear.

RT-qPCR detected the expression of SNHG15, miR-188-5p, and DAAM1. RNA pull down, RT-qPCR, and bioinformatics were used for finding and selecting downstream targets of SNHG15.

SNHG15 presented a high expression in OSCC cells. Moreover, inhibition of SNHG15 exhibited repressive influence on proliferative, migrated, and invasive abilities but induce apoptosis of OSCC cells. Through the search of bioinformatics and RNA pull down assays, we confirmed that miR-188-5p was one target of SNHG15 in OSCC cells. OT-82 Additionally, miR-188-5p could hamper the growth of OSCC cells. Moreover, it was manifested that DAAM1 was down-regulated by miR-188-5p. DAAM1 was up-regulated in OSCC cells. Furthermore, it exerted oncogenic function in the course of OSCC. Eventually, overexpression of DAAM1 offsets the effects of down-regulation of SNHG15 on the development of OSCC.

To summarize, our study certified that SNHG15 contributed to the process of OSCC via sponging miR-188-5p to elevate DAAM1 expression. SNHG15 might offer novel sight to improve the results of treatment for OSCC.

To investigate the efficacy of re-do urethroplasty for post-traumatic urethral stricture in terms of anatomical and functional outcomes.

A total of 48 patients who underwent re-do urethroplasty for post-traumatic urethral stricture due to perineal trauma (n=21) and pelvic fracture urethral injury (n=27) between October 2010 and March 2020 were retrospectively reviewed. Patients were followed by uroflowmetry, post-void residual volume assessment and 17-Fr flexible cystoscopy after re-do urethroplasty. Successful urethroplasty was defined as having a urethral caliber adequate for the passage of a cystoscope and requiring no additional treatments. Patients completed a validated patient-reported outcome measure for urethral stricture surgery, including overall satisfaction, and the sexual health inventory for men.

The type of re-do urethroplasty was anastomotic urethroplasty in 45 (94%) patients and buccal mucosa urethroplasty in three (6%) patients. Urethroplasty was successful in 47 (98%) patients (median follow up 35months, interquartile range 21-75). The patient-reported outcome measure for urethral stricture surgery and Sexual Health Inventory for Men were assessed in 36 (75%) patients, and the mean lower urinary tract symptom-specific quality of life, EuroQol-5D and EuroQol-visual analog scale scores improved from 2.86, 0.63 and 54.17 preoperatively to 0.78 (P<0.001), 0.86 (P<0.001) and 76.94 (P<0.001) postoperatively, respectively. The pre- and postoperative mean Sexual Health Inventory for Men scores (5.92 and 4.94, respectively) did not significantly differ (P=0.318). All 36 patients were satisfied with their urethroplasty outcomes, with 20 (56%) very satisfied patients.

To scope the evidence on interventions used to help mental health nurses cope with stressful working environments.

Nursing managers may implement interventions to support mental health nurses cope in their role. However, the evidence supporting these interventions has not been recently reviewed.

A scoping review was conducted which entailed searching and selecting potential studies, undertaking data extraction and synthesis.

Eighteen studies published since 2000 were identified. They employed different designs, ten used quasi-experimental methods. Interventions involving active learning appeared beneficial, for example stress reduction courses and mindfulness. However, small sample sizes, short follow-up periods and variation in outcome measures make it difficult to identify the optimum interventions. No studies have considered cost-effectiveness.

There is some evidence that mental health nurses benefit from interventions to help them cope with stressful working environments. However, higher quality research is needed to establish the effectiveness and cost-effectiveness of different interventions.
