The environmental temperature increased during summer and decreased during winter to the limits that might negatively affect animal and human reproduction. The responses of Egyptian rams to either hot or cold climatic conditions were studied in six mature rams subjected to weekly testicular Doppler ultrasonographic examination, blood sampling, seminal plasma collection and semen evaluation. The maximum environmental temperature and the relative humidity were used to classify the climatic condition according to the heat stress equation of sheep into hot months where temperature-humidity index (THI) was > 26 (31.67 ±0.54), and cold months where THI was less then 22 (18.39 ±0.41). Testosterone, estradiol, superoxide dismutase (SOD), glutathione peroxidase (GPX), lipid peroxide product (malondialdehyde, MDA) were measured in both blood and seminal plasma, while catalase (CAT) and reduced glutathione (GSH) were measured in blood and seminal plasma, respectively. Results revealed that, during the hot months, rams displayed significantly decreased testicular blood flow, increased seminal plasma MDA, decreased seminal plasma (SOD, GPx, GSH) and blood CAT antioxidant enzymes. The present study evidenced two novel findings (1) the marked decrease in testicular blood flow volume, i.e. remarkable increase in both resistive index (RI) and pulsatility index (PI) values, during hot months could be negatively affected both seminal plasma enzymatic activities and seminal attributes, and (2) the SOD and GPx activities in seminal plasma of such animals were suitable predictive markers for seminal attribute evaluation. Our aim was to evaluate the accurately determine role of these two polymorphisms in CAD risk. PubMed, Embase, VIP, Wan fang and China National Knowledge Infrastructure databases were searched. The odds ratios (ORs) and 95% confidence intervals (CIs) were calculated. The trial sequential analysis (TSA) was conducted, and bioinformatics tools were employed. A total of thirty-seven articles were obtained. For the IL-6 rs1800795 polymorphism, 9411 CAD patients and 3161 controls were included, 4720 patients with CAD, and 5000 controls were included for the IL-6 rs1800796 polymorphism. In the pooled analysis, significant associations were only observed for the rs1800796 polymorphism (allelic OR [95%CI] = 1.28 [1.13, 1.44], dominant OR [95%CI] = 1.35 [1.17, 1.57], recessive OR [95%CI] = 1.35 [1.18, 1.55], heterozygote OR [95%CI] = 1.26 [1.15, 1.37], homozygote OR [95%CI] = 1.62 [1.23, 2.13]). Significant associations were detected in the Asian and Mongoloid populations and 'more than 500' subgroup for the rs1800795 polymorphism. TSA confirmed the true-positive results for the rs1800796 polymorphism. The bioinformatics analysis showed that the two polymorphisms played important roles in the gene transcription. The IL-6 rs1800796 polymorphism is associated with an increased susceptibility to CAD and is a risk factor for CAD. The IL-6 rs1800795 polymorphism is associated with an increased risk of CAD in Asians, particularly in Chinese, and a decreased risk of CAD in an African population is remarkably observed. © 2020 The Authors. METHODS In this multi-center retrospective study, data were abstracted from the medical records of 350 patients from nine sarcoma centers throughout the United States and combined into a registry. Patients with advanced/unresectable or metastatic SS (n = 249) or MRCL (n = 101) who received first-line systemic anticancer therapy and had records of tumor imaging were included. Overall survival (OS), time to next treatment, time to distant metastasis, and progression-free survival (PFS) were evaluated using the Kaplan-Meier method and Cox regression. RESULTS At start of first-line systemic anticancer therapy, 92.4% of patients with SS and 91.1% of patients with MRCL had metastatic lesions. However, 74.7% of patients with SS and 72.3% of patients with MRCL had ≥2 lines of systemic therapy. Median OS and median PFS from first-line therapy for SS was 24.7 months (95% CI, 20.9-29.4) and 7.5 months, respectively (95% CI, 6.4-8.4). Median OS and median PFS from start of first-line therapy for MRCL was 29.9 months (95% CI, 27-44.6) and 8.9 months (95% CI 4.5-12.0). CONCLUSIONS To the best of our knowledge, this is the largest retrospective study of patients with SS and MRCL. It provides an analysis of real-world clinical outcomes among patients treated at major sarcoma cancer centers and could inform treatment decisions and design of clinical trials. In general, the survival outcomes for this selected population appear more favorable than in published literature. © 2020 The Authors and Merck Sharp & Dohme Corp. Cancer Medicine published by John Wiley & Sons Ltd.MXene (Ti3C2Tx ) is a new 2D material with both hydrophilicity and high electrical conductivity that has shown promise in smart electronic devices. However, the humidity-driven capabilities of MXene similar to graphene oxide are still unknown. Herein, we report a homogeneous MXene film actuator with high electrical conductivity triggered by moisture gradients and reveal the driving mechanism. CUDC-101 The actuator is highly sensitive to moisture and has a considerable amount of deformation; the maximum bending angle can be as high as 155° at the relative humidity difference of 65%. Several analysis methods show that the humidity drive and large deformation of the MXene film are formed in situ by the asymmetric expansion of the bilayer structure. The combination of outstanding deformation and excellent electrical conductivity makes this film applicable to flexible excavators, electrical switches and other fields, which is difficult to achieve directly by using other 2D materials. More importantly, this work further expands the new application ranges of MXene materials and provides new opportunities for building the next generation of high-conductivity smart actuators.
