About 40% of the vape shops were located within 0.5 miles of a middle or high school. Sociodemographic disparities exist in the e-cigarette retail environment. In addition to the need to address the disparities identified in this study, our results showing the presence of vape shops within walkable distances of schools calls for tighter regulations and continued surveillance around the marketing practices of e-cigarette retailers. © 2020 The Authors.This study examines the socioeconomic determinants of dual use of smoked and smokeless tobacco (SLT) in India between 2009-10 and 2016-17. Data from two rounds of the nationally representative cross-sectional Global Adult Tobacco Survey (GATS) conducted in 2009-10 and 2016-17 was used. Complete sample size from both rounds of survey covering 143,333 individuals (GATS I 69,296 and GATS II 74,037) from 153,239 households (GATS I 76,069 and GATS II 77,170) included in the study. Dual use was assessed based on current smoked and SLT users in both rounds. Bivariate analysis was applied to assess differences in dual tobacco use by socioeconomic status (SES) and across regions, whereas, pooled sampled analysis was conducted to examine the determinants of dual use applying multinomial logistic regression model. Findings reveal that dual use has declined in India from nearly 5% in 2009-10 to 3.4% in 2016-17. Considerable regional and SES differences in dual use are evident. Multivariate results indicate, while age is positively associated with dual use, education and household wealth was negatively associated. Dual use of tobacco was found to be considerably higher among men as compared to women (RRR 15.66, 95%CI 14.20-17.27). Awareness about the adverse health consequences of tobacco was also negatively associated with dual tobacco use (RRR 0.56, 95%CI 0.50-0.64). Future awareness and enforcement efforts should focus on all forms of tobacco, especially targeting vulnerable SE groups. © 2020 Published by Elsevier Inc.Human papillomavirus (HPV) testing can have a negative impact on women's lives which might also result in abandoning the follow-up and treatment process. This study measured the psycho-social impact of HPV-positivity among HPV-tested women from Jujuy, Argentina, a middle-low income setting. In this cross-sectional study (2015-2016), the psycho-social impact of HPV-positivity was measured using the Psycho-Estampa Scale, specifically designed and validated to be used in screening contexts. We measured mean scores for each of the five scale domains, and the Overall Impact score (Values from 1 No impact to 4 Heavy impact). We compared scores according to cytology triage diagnosis using ordinal logistic regression. A total of 163 HPV-positive women were recruited at the Centro Carlos Alvarado hospital and included in the study sample; of these, 124 (76.1%) had normal triage cytologies. The overall Impact score was between low and moderate (mean2.56, SD0.65). The highest psycho-social impact was measured in the Worries about cancer and treatment domain (mean score3.60, SD0.60), followed by Sexuality domain (mean2.50; SD1.00). The Uncertainty about information provided by health providers domain had the lowest mean score (mean2.14, SD0.73). Compared to women with normal cytologies (n = 124), women with abnormal cytologies (n = 39) had a higher likelihood of greater overall Psycho-social Impact (OR 2.91; p = 0.0036). No statistically significant differences were found in scores of specific domains according to cytology results. It is important to devise specific counseling interventions to reduce the psycho-social impact of HPV-Testing as primary screening and its potential effect on completion of the diagnosis/ treatment process. © 2020 The Authors.We report the first 7,755 patients with confirmed COVID-19 in Korea as of March 12th, 2020. A total of 66 deaths have been recorded, giving a case fatality proportion of 0.9%. Older people, and those with comorbidities were at a higher risk of a fatal outcome. The highest number of cases of COVID-19 were in Daegu, followed by Gyeongbuk. This summary may help to understand the disease dynamics in the early phase of the COVID-19 outbreaks, and may therefore, guide future public health measures. In this article, an international analysis was performed on the ongoing coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic. Methods Data were retrieved from accurate databases according to the user's guide of data sources for patient registries, CFR and recovery rates were calculated for each country. A comparison of CFR between countries with total cases ≥ 1,000 was observed for 12th and 23rd March. Results Italy's CFR was the highest of all countries studied for both time points (12th March, 6.22% versus 23rd March, 9.26%). The data showed that even though Italy was the only European country reported on 12rd March, Spain and France had the highest CFR of 6.16 and 4.21%, respectively, on 23rd March, which was strikingly higher than the overall CFR of 3.61%. Conclusion Obtaining detailed and accurate medical history from COVID-19 patients, and analyzing CFR alongside the recovery rate, may enable the identification of the highest risk areas so that efficient medical care may be provided. This may lead to the development of point-of-care tools to help clinicians in stratifying patients based on possible requirements in the level of care, to increase the probabilities of survival from COVID-19 disease.
