Size
A built-in microwave and wall oven combination is a fantastic solution for kitchens of all kinds. It offers the convenience of a microwavable with the versatility of wall ovens. Explore our collection of combination wall ovens and microwaves to find the perfect one for your home. Make sure you read the cutout specifications and installation guide for your chosen unit to ensure it will work in your space. Our microwave and oven combos include both microwave and oven models in a variety colors, styles and finishes that will match any decor. Also, look for features like smart and convenient electronic controls, a power-cook function and built in self-cleaning options that will help you save time.
Convenience
A built-in microwave oven will save you space on your counters and give your kitchen a more sleek appearance. Since it functions as a microwave in addition to a traditional oven it can cook leftovers, frozen foods and meals that are pre-packaged in one appliance. It removes the necessity of separate countertop appliances or bulky wall ovens. If you want to upgrade your home without having to do major changes, a combination microwave oven is a great choice.
You can find microwave ovens that come in a variety of designs to fit the decor of your kitchen. Some microwave oven combos feature a swing-out right-to-left door and others have drop-down designs that open the same way as traditional ovens. You can also get microwave ovens that open in a drawer, similar to cabinets. Microwave drawers can be easily reached and are great for small space.
Combination microwaves also have a variety of features that can help you prepare your meals faster and more efficient. For instance, certain models have a sensor steam cycle that automatically adjusts the time and temperature of your food to ensure you receive perfectly steamed veggies and fish. Other features include the broil element that allows you to swiftly melt cheese and brown your favorite dish. Crispwave(tm) is meanwhile, can cook, grill, and crisp food items.
When selecting a microwave oven combination, make sure to take into consideration how often you'll use each function. If you'll be using the oven portion of your combo more than the microwave, you might be better off using a double wall oven. It's also important to note that a combo appliance typically has less capacity than a conventional standalone oven.
When you've chosen a microwave and oven combo to meet your needs, you should think about the installation process. Over-the-range models are installed over the stovetop or cooktop and connected to an electrical outlet. Built-in microwaves are installed into cabinets or walls in your kitchen. Some models have trim kits that ensure that your new microwave is in line with your cabinets.
Energy Efficiency
A built in microwave oven combo is a great space saving option for those with smaller kitchens, regardless of whether they are in a house or an apartment. They can help to save cabinet space that would normally be taken up by two separate appliances, and they also can help reduce energy usage. They generally provide the most efficient cooking method than traditional wall ovens because they use less energy. They can also be used to cook food or warm food items. This means that there is less need for other appliances like toasters or warming plates.
In evaluating the possibility of amending energy conservation standards, DOE conducts several analyses that include market and technology assessment, screening analysis, engineering analysis, and national impacts analysis (NIA). In this SNOPR, DOE will rely on its existing engineering analysis of microwave ovens to determine the maximum efficiency improvements that are technically feasible for this product category.
In the engineering analysis, DOE will compare the design parameters of a microwave to an energy performance set of objectives. The engineering analysis will then determine the maximum improvement in energy efficiency that is technologically feasible based on the most advanced microprocessor-controlled model available on the market or in working prototypes, or the maximum reduction in energy consumption that is technically achievable with the current technologies available for this product class.
As microwave and oven integrated of the NIA, DOE will evaluate the impact on consumers of each product class, including lifecycle cost savings as well as simple payback period ("PBP"). DOE will utilize the Government Regulatory Impact Model, with an adaptation for ovens that can be microwaved, to calculate the industry's net present value (NPV).
Manufacturer impacts will be evaluated as well and DOE will use a modified version of its Industry Cash Flow model that has been modified for this type of product to estimate manufacturing NPV. DOE will also examine the impacts of these plans on small businesses and other manufacturing subgroups to identify those who are likely to be affected.
DOE will also consider whether the test procedure for microwave ovens needs to be revised to include active mode power consumption and an energy use metric. The current test procedures only deal with standby mode power use.
Design
Microwaves create heat by causing water molecules vibrate in food. Wall ovens depend on the circulation of hot air while microwaves depend on waves to cause food molecules to vibrate. Combination wall units blend both appliances into one unit, which is ideal for securing space in the kitchen while providing a modern and sleek design. But you need to carefully take into consideration your budget and goals before purchasing a combination wall oven. Some of the combo ovens we evaluated have design or performance issues.
