The nanomolar dual MMP-9/MAO-A inhibitor 19 was identified as the most potent and balanced dual inhibitor among the evaluated series with considerable selectivity against MAO-A over MAO-B. Besides, qRT-PCR analysis was conducted to explore the hit compounds' potential to downregulate hypoxia-inducing factor (HIF-1α) in HCT116 cells being correlated with MAO-A mediated CRC migration and invasion. Among 35 synthesized compounds, 32 analogues displayed potent in-vitro activity against Mycobacterium tuberculosis H37Rv with MIC 0.12-16 μg/mL. Seizures and epilepsy are often poorly managed in homeless patients. In this retrospective study, conducted in a large urban university hospital; we compared the number emergency department presentations and associated head computed tomography studies in a cohort of 88 homeless patients with seizures to an age and gender-matched housed cohort of patients over a five-year period. We found that homeless patients had a significantly increased number of presentations to the emergency department and a significantly higher number of head computed tomography, with a resulting increase in radiation exposure.
Management of pediatric otitis media with effusion (OME) and recurrent otitis media typically includes observation up to 3 months. Bilateral myringotomy and tube (BMT) placement is performed due to persistent effusion with associated symptoms such as decreased hearing. With the COVID-19 pandemic and mandatory stay at home orders (MSHO), children were quarantined at home and many remained home after MSHO. We reviewed the prevalence of middle ear effusion (MEE) at the time of BMT during similar time periods in the year before, during and after MSHO in this pandemic year.
Retrospective summary of BMT cases at a single tertiary children's hospital.
All children <18 years who underwent BMT between March 1, 2020 and July 1, 2020 and between March 1, 2019 and July 1, 2019 were included. Statistical analysis included chi-squared and Mann-Whitney U tests.
