Despite the growing popularity of English for Medical Purposes courses for nurses and nursing students in the East Asian region, relatively little research has been done to investigate whether these courses meet students' specific pragmatic or learning needs. Drawing on the analysis of questionnaires and interview data collected from 66 South Korean nursing students who enrolled in the Medial English course, the study aims to demonstrate the students' specific learning purposes and their pragmatic needs that are highly relevant to the values and conventions of the target discourse community. The findings of the study suggest that while most students agree with the need for English for Specific Purposes courses, they report that the current courses do not fully fit their needs and expectations because of (a) an English-only classroom policy, (b) limited academic literacy in English, and (c) non-localized materials. Findings help language educators, policy makers and researchers in the East Asian region to better understand the importance of looking at specificity of English for Medical Purposes courses and the students' unique needs, and provide them with suggestions for enhancing the effectiveness and specificity of English for Medical Purposes courses.Newly Qualified Professional Nurses (NQPNs) require support while transitioning from student to professional nurse. Nurse residency programmes guided by competent facilitators provide such support. We developed a conceptual framework for a Person-centred Nurse Residency Programme. This qualitative interpretive descriptive study was conducted in three phases. In phase 1, we assessed the support needs of purposively selected NQPNs as well as senior professional nurses. Data were collected using multiple methods and analysed during a consensus workshop held in Phase 2. In Phase 3, we developed a conceptual framework which was validated by six nurse education experts. The final framework comprised of four domains learning outcomes, learning processes, learning environment, prerequisites of the facilitator, and was underpinned by the educational theories of constructivism and person-centeredness. Advocates of nurse residency programmes should recognise that these domains are interrelated and aim to achieve person-centred support for NQPNs.This study aimed to explore the influences of an interprofessional preceptor-team intervention (IPPT) on interprofessional collaboration, preceptors' role, confidence, and motivation to precept health care students (nursing, physiotherapy) and apprentices in a Norwegian nursing home.
Qualitative data were collected by two focus group discussions possible gains and pitfalls of the IPPT-intervention were focused. The group-discussions were tape-recorded, transcribed verbatim and analysed by means of qualitative content analysis.

The IPPT-intervention influenced positively on preceptors' confidence and motivation to work as a preceptor and facilitated interprofessional collaboration between the health professionals. The preceptors' role in the ward became clearer and more visible to the peers. Perceived lack of time, a heavy workload, the ward hierarchy, and lack of managerial support were key barriers for preceptorship.

The identification of biomarkers in extracellular vesicles (EV) obtained from serial blood samples after surgery could enhance early detection of relapse and improve NSCLC outcome. Since EV cargo contains long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs), we aimed to analyze whether the oncogenic lncRNA HOTTIP, which higher expression in tumor tissue was related to worse outcome in NSCLC, could be detected in EV from NSCLC patients and serve as recurrence biomarker. After purification of EVs by ultracentrifugation in 52 serial samples from 18 NSCLC patients, RNA was isolated and HOTTIP was quantified by Real time PCR. find more We observed that patients that relapsed after surgery displayed increased postsurgical EV HOTTIP levels in comparison with presurgical levels. In the relapsed patients with several samples available between surgery and relapse, we observed an increment in the EV HOTTIP levels when approaching to relapse, which indicated its potential utility for monitoring disease recurrence. When we focused in EV HOTTIP levels in the first post-surgical sample, we observed that the detection of an increment of the expression levels in comparison to presurgical sample, predicted recurrence with high sensitivity (85.7%) and specificity (90.9%) and that patients had shorter time to relapse and shorter overall survival. In conclusion, our pilot study showed that EV HOTTIP is a potential biomarker for monitoring disease recurrence after surgery in NSCLC.
To compare radiation dose between single-bolus and split-bolus computed tomography urography (CTU).

We prospectively enrolled patients undergoing single-bolus and split-bolus CTU from 2019 June to 2020 June. The age, sex and body mass index (BMI) of each patient was recorded and categorized into BMI classes. The radiation dose indices including volumetric computed dose index, size-specific dose estimate, dose length product and effective dose of each patient were compared between 2 CTU groups with calculation of dose reduction proportions (DRPs).

Seventy-six patients underwent single-bolus (n=39) and split-bolus (n=37) CTU. Single-bolus CTU had higher radiation doses than split-bolus CTU and there were statistically significant differences of all radiation dose indices between two CTU groups without and with stratification by sex and BMI classes. The DRPs of volumetric computed dose index, size-specific dose estimate, dose length product and effective dose using split-bolus CTU were 49%, 49%. 50%, and 45%, respectively.
