The BRIVAC checklist is the first initiative providing an operational checklist for improved reporting of qBRm applied to vaccines in scientific articles. It is intended to assist authors, peer-reviewers, editors and readers in their critical appraisal. Future initiatives are needed to provide methodological guidance to perform qBRm while taking into account the vaccine specificities.

Aberrant methylation of CpG islands in the TIG1 promoter is found in multiple cancers. Currently, the exact mechanism underlying the anticancer effect of TIG1 is unknown. Here, we show that TIG1 interacts with cathepsin V (CTSV), which reduces CTSV stability and subsequently affects the production of activated urokinase-type plasminogen activator (uPA), an epithelial-mesenchymal transition-associated protein. Ectopic expression of CTSV increased the expression of activated uPA and the number of migrated and invaded cells, whereas ectopic TIG1 expression reversed the effects of CTSV on the uPA signaling pathway. Similar patterns in the production of activated uPA and number of migrated and invaded cells were also observed in TIG1-expressing and CTSV-knockdown cells. The results suggest that CTSV may participate in TIG1-regulated uPA activity and the associated downstream signaling pathway. The present investigation examined the effect of perfectionism on metacognitive listening strategy (MLS) use through the components of self-efficacy (initiative, effort, and persistence) among a sample of 117 Iranian English as a Foreign Language university students. Cluster analysis was utilized to identify the perfectionistic clusters. The resulting analysis yielded a three-cluster solution (adaptive, maladaptive, and non-perfectionist). Multicategorical multiple mediation analysis was then used to explore the relative direct, indirect, and total effects and to test the postulated hypotheses of the study. Results indicated that adaptive perfectionism was associated with higher levels of effort and persistence, leading to greater MLS use. Regarding the initiative subscale, no significant differences were observed among the three perfectionist groups. Maladaptive perfectionists showed high levels of effort investment but not persistence. Mediation analysis did not support self-efficacy components as the mediators of the relationship between perfectionism and MLS use. Among self-efficacy components, only effort exerted a positive effect on MLS use. Results are discussed in terms of implications for future research and classroom practice.
Obstetric anal sphincter injury (OASI) is the most common cause of anal incontinence. Identifying risk factors may facilitate change in labour and delivery practice, potentially reducing the risk. The objective of this study is to identify maternal, foetal and intrapartum risk factors for OASI in a regional hospital.

We conducted a retrospective analysis of vaginal deliveries over a 10-year period (2008-2017). Anal sphincter injury was diagnosed by an experienced clinician and classified according to RCOG recommendations. A multiple logistic regression model was created using the presence of OASI as the dependent variable. Coefficients were adjusted for relevant maternal, foetal and intrapartum risk factors.

During the study period, there were 23,887 vaginal deliveries. Of these births, 18,550 were spontaneous (77.66%), 3746 vacuum-assisted (15.68%), 1196 forceps (5.01%) and 395 sequential instrumental deliveries (1.65%). The overall rate of OASI was 1.76%, with an upward trend seen in nulliparous mothers. Significant factors that increased the risk of OASI were nulliparity, Asian ethnicity, delivery by forceps or sequential instruments, and shoulder dystocia. Vacuum delivery did not significantly increase risk.

Maternal age ≥ 35years confers a protective effect after adjusting for parity, birth weight and mode of delivery. Given the context of an ageing reproductive population, additional research is required to investigate the impact of maternal age on anal sphincter injury.

In this study, combination of two bacteriocins, enterocin LD3 and plantaricin LD4, was studied against two pathogenic bacteria, Staphylococcus aureus subsp. aureus ATCC25923 and Salmonella enterica subsp. enterica serovar Typhimurium ATCC13311 for increasing their potency and bactericidal activity. The minimal inhibitory concentrations (MICs) of enterocin LD3 and plantaricin LD4 against Staph. aureus subsp. aureus ATCC25923 were 180 and 220 μg/mL, whereas in combination, reduced to 115 μg/mL, respectively. The MICs of enterocin LD3 and plantaricin LD4 against Salm. enterica subsp. enterica serovar Typhimurium ATCC13311 were 240 and 320 μg/mL, respectively, whereas in combination, these were found to be 130 μg/mL, respectively. The fractional inhibitory concentration (FIC) indices calculated as 0.50 against Staph. aureus subsp. aureus ATCC25923 and 0.43 against Salm. enterica subsp. enterica serovar Typhimntaricin LD4 may kill target cells using other mechanism. Our data suggest that different mode of action of both bacteriocins results in division of labour and may be responsible for their synergistic activity against target cells. Similarly, the synergistic effect of bacteriocins was also observed against other pathogenic bacteria such as Proteus mirabilis ATCC43071, Pseudomonas aeruginosa ATCC27853 and Escherichia coli ATCC25922. These bacteriocins, therefore, act synergistically against target pathogens and may be applied in appropriate combinations for food safety and medical applications.
