Natural products (NPs) are a valuable source in the food, pharmaceutical, agricultural, environmental, and many other industrial sectors. Their beneficial properties along with their potential toxicities make the detection, determination or quantification of NPs essential for their application. The advanced instrumental methods require time-consuming sample preparation and analysis. In contrast, biosensors allow rapid detection of NPs, especially in complex media, and are the preferred choice of detection when speed and high throughput are intended. Here, we review diverse biosensors reported for the detection of NPs. The emerging approaches for improving the efficiency of biosensors, such as microfluidics, nanotechnology, and magnetic beads, are also discussed. The simultaneous use of two detection techniques is suggested as a robust strategy for precise detection of a specific NP with structural complexity in complicated matrices. The parallel detection of a variety of NPs structures or biological activities in a mixture of extract in a single detection phase is among the anticipated future advancements in this field which can be achieved using multisystem biosensors applying multiple flow cells, sensing elements, and detection mechanisms on miniaturized folded chips.
Adolescence is characterized by a rapid phase of growth and development during which the requirement of nutrition and micronutrients is relatively high. Although there is a decreasing trend in the prevalence of undernutrition among adolescents, the current prevalence of undernutrition is still very high (41.9%). NT157 molecular weight Adolescents with good nutrition knowledge are more likely to follow healthy eating habits. In the light of this, the current study was planned to assess the baseline nutrition-related knowledge of adolescent girls and the effectiveness of nutrition education material (flipchart) in increasing their nutrition-related knowledge.
A school-based interventional study was conducted among adolescent girls of class 9
of a school in an urban slum of Delhi. A structured pretested Knowledge Assessment Questionnaire consisting of 10 multiple-choice questions in Hindi with a maximum score of 10 was used. The intervention was a nutrition education session conducted by doctors of Community Health department usnificantly improved after the nutrition education session.
Our study aims to summarize the data of radiation doses collected from consecutive CT examinations by using the Radiometrics software and contributing to the establishment of the region's diagnostic reference levels (DRLs).
The radiation doses in 158,463 CT examinations performed on 106,275 adults between April 2017 and April 2019 were retrospectively analyzed. The median value and interquartile range (IQR) of volumetric CT dose index (CTDIvol), dose-length product (DLP), effective dose (ED), and size-specific dose estimate (SSDE) were calculated according to the scanning region.
The median CTDIvol (mGy) for each scanning region was 42.3 (head), 6.2 (chest), and 9.0 (abdomen). The median DLPs (mGy.cm) for single-phase, multi-phase, and all examinations were as follows 607, 794, and 641 for the head; 220, 393, and 237 for the chest; 298, 1,141, and 570 for the abdomen. The median EDs (mSv) for single-phase, multi-phase, and all examinations are as follows 1.6, 2.6, and 1.8 for the head; 5.1, 8.1, and 5.3 for the chest; 5.8, 20.3, and 10.4 for the abdomen.
Our study's results could provide a basis for the evaluation of CT scanning radiation dosage and supply evidence for the establishment of local DRLs in China's Sichuan Province.

Impingement between a stem and ceramic liner is a proposed cause of ceramic liner fractures. We experienced a case of ceramic liner fracture caused by direct impingement between the stem shoulder and the ceramic liner. This type of impingement, unlike impingements with a stem neck, has not been previously reported. While we assume that certain characteristics of the stem contributed to the impingement, we report this case to note that caution may be needed when using certain stem designs.
As one of the main malignant tumors, breast cancer remains a worldwide public health issue. Here, we aimed to analyze the effects of breast-conserving surgery (BCS) combined with sentinel lymph node biopsy (SLNB) and axillary preservation on the recurrence, metastasis, complications, and cosmetic results of early breast cancer patients (BCPs).
The clinical data of 143 BCPs admitted to our hospital from January 2017 to January 2019 were collected retrospectively, and all patients were female. Patients (76 cases) undergoing BCS combined with SLNB and axillary preservation treatment were set as the combined group, and 67 cases undergoing traditional modified radical surgery were set as the control group. After the perioperative conditions of patients in the two groups were compared, the patients were followed up for 14 months to record information on the quality of life, recurrence, metastasis, complications, and cosmetic results.
The operation time, intraoperative blood loss, and extubation time of the covided good clinical and cosmetic results and can improve the quality of life of patients and reduce the rate of recurrence and metastasis.
BCS combined with SLNB and axillary preservation provided good clinical and cosmetic results and can improve the quality of life of patients and reduce the rate of recurrence and metastasis.
The objective of this study was to explore the benefit of
F-AlF-NOTA-PRGD2 positron emission tomography/computed tomography (denoted as
F-RGD PET/CT) imaging for determining the clinical pathologic features of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC).
Seventy-two patients with NSCLC (37 cases of adenocarcinoma and 35 cases of squamous carcinoma) were enrolled to receive
F-RGD PET/CT scanning pretreatment. The peak standard uptake value (SUV
), mean standard uptake value (SUV
), angiogenic tumor volume (ATV) and total lesion angiogenesis (TLA) of tumors were determined using an automated contouring program. Cases were classified according to the tumor, lymph node, metastasis (TNM) stage.
Significant differences in ATV and TLA were observed among T1, T2, T3 and T4 cases (ATV, P=0.000; TLA, P=0.000). ATV and TLA also differed significantly among cases of clinical stage I, II, III and IV (ATV, P=0.002; TLA, P=0.011). However, no significant differences in any values were observed between stage III and IV NSCLC cases (SUV
, P=0.
