Transforming growth factor-β2 (TGF-β2) can induce ECM remodeling. The aim of the study was to investigate the microRNAs (miRNAs) expression changes of extracellular vesicles (EVs) derived from HTMCs treated with TGF-β2. EVs were isolated from HTMCs supernatant cultured for 24 h with TGF-β2. The morphology of EVs pellets was examined by transmission electron microscopy. Nanoparticle tracking analysis used to demonstrate the particle size distribution. Total EVs RNAs were extracted for subsequent miRNA gene chip analysis to investigate differentially expressed miRNAs between the controls and treatment cells. Gene Ontology (GO) annotation, Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) pathway enrichment analyses were used to predict potential target and validate possible functions of the miRNAs. There were 23 miRNAs upregulated and 3 miRNAs downregulated and 469,102, and 94 GO terms involved in biological processes, cellular components, and molecular function for the possible functions of the 26 miRNAs. These findings indicate that TGF-β2 may alter EVs miRNAs expression to participate in the pathogenesis of POAG. They may provide significant information for potential biomarkers for POAG diagnosis and treatment.Back burners are people with whom one communicates to potentially establish a future romantic or sexual relationship, and these relationships are common among college students. Using a sample of noncollege adults currently in committed relationships (N = 246) obtained via Amazon's MTurk, this study examines how a prior relationship role with a desired back burner (i.e., whether a back burner was an ex-partner or not) affects digital communication and sexual activity with back burners, and participants' negative affect. Sequential mediation analysis revealed that when the most-desired back burner was also an ex-partner (vs. not), participants digitally communicated more, increased communication was positively related to sexual activity with that back burner, and sexual activity was associated with negative affect in the participant. Even in the absence of sexual activity, both increased digital communication and simply having an ex-partner as one's most-desired back burner were associated with negative affect. Limitations and implications for staying in touch with ex-partners are discussed.Introduction Incarceration is linked to risk of sexually transmitted infection (STI) postrelease among women. There has been little examination of incarceration's association with related sexual and reproductive outcomes such as pelvic inflammatory disease (PID) and pregnancy loss, or the role of STI in this relationship and whether these relationships differ between Black and White women. Methods Using data from the National Longitudinal Study of Adolescent to Adult Health, we examined cross-sectional associations between incarceration (Wave IV; 2007-2008; ages 24-34) and history of STI and PID (n = 5,968), and longitudinal associations between incarceration and later pregnancy loss in mid-adulthood (Wave V; 2016-2018; ages 34-43) among women who had ever been pregnant (n = 2,353); we estimated racial differences. Using causal mediation, we explored whether STI mediated associations with pregnancy loss. Results Incarceration was associated with a history of STI (White adjusted prevalence ratio [APR] 1.54, 95% confidence interval [CI] 1.14-2.06; Black APR 1.26, 95% CI 1.02-1.56); the association between incarceration and PID was null among White women (APR 0.99, 95% CI 0.47-2.09) and elevated among Black women (APR 2.82, 95% CI 1.36-5.83). Prior incarceration did not appear associated with pregnancy loss among White women (APR 1.01, 95% CI 0.70-1.45), but was associated among Black women (APR 1.38, 95% CI 0.97-1.97), with STI appearing to partially mediate. Conclusions Pregnancy loss may be elevated among Black women who have been incarcerated, and incarceration-related increases in STI may account for some of this association.In this article, we provide an overview of transference-focused psychotherapy for patients with pathological narcissism and narcissistic personality disorder (TFP-N). In TFP-N we have modified and refined the tactics and techniques of TFP, an evidence-based treatment for borderline personality disorder, to meet the specific challenges of working with patients with narcissistic personality pathology whose retreat from reality into an illusory grandiosity makes them particularly difficult to engage in treatment. CNQX order We first describe a model of narcissistic pathology based on considerations of psychological structure stemming from object relations theory. This model provides a unifying understanding of the core structure of narcissistic pathology, the pathological grandiose self, that underlies the impairments in self and interpersonal functioning of those with narcissistic pathology across the levels of personality organization (from high functioning to borderline to malignant). We then delineate the clinical process of working with patients with pathological narcissism and narcissistic personality disorder. Starting with the assessment process, using a detailed clinical example, we guide the reader through the progression of TFP-N as it helps the patient move from the distorted, unintegrated sense of self underlying the narcissistic presentation to the more integrated, realistic sense of self that characterizes healthier personality functioning. In TFP-N the focus on the disturbed interpersonal patterns of relating in the here and now of the therapeutic interaction is the vehicle to diminish grandiosity and improve relatedness, thereby effecting enduring changes in mental representation and real-world functioning.
