To examine associations among subjective memory reports, psychophysiological markers of emotion regulation, and cognitive performance in healthy adults over 50 years of age.
A cross-sectional laboratory study was conducted with healthy, community-dwelling, non-depressed adults (
age = 60.4 years,
= 8.4). The Metamemory in Adulthood (MIA) questionnaire provided reports of subjective memory capacity and stability (versus decline) and anxiety about memory. Poorer emotion regulation was marked by greater negative affect (NA) and lower high frequency heart rate variability (HF-HRV) responses to a challenging working memory task. Regression models were used to identify associations between subjective memory and emotion regulation markers, and structural equation modeling was used to explore whether emotion regulation mediated associations between subjective memory and objective task performance.
A total of 115 participants were included in the final sample. Subjective memory decline (indicated by lower scores on memory stability) was associated with lower HF-HRV response and worse working memory performance. Poorer subjective memory capacity and more anxiety about memory were both associated with greater negative affect in response to the working memory task. There was an indirect effect of subjective memory capacity on working memory performance through negative affect response.
The findings here suggest that worse subjective memory may signal reduced capacity for emotion regulation. Along with known cognitive risks of depression and anxiety, more subtle emotion regulation difficulties may be involved in pathways of poor cognitive aging.

IL lipid nanoemulsions (IL-LNEs) were prepared to improve oral bioavailability. Rhapontigenin supplier IL-LNEs were formulated by hot homogenization and ultrasonication method. Soybean oil and egg lecithin in various concentrations as emulsifier were used in the preparation of LNEs. Dynamic light scattering technique was used for globule size analysis. All LNE formulations showed narrow size distribution and the average globule size and Poly Dispersity Index (PDI) were found to be in between 182.2 ± 2.8 to 222.3 ± 1.9 nm and 0.200 ± 0.004 to 0.274 ± 0.005 respectively. Zeta potential values varied from -20.0 ± 0.15 to -28.9 ± 0.30 mV which indicated stability of prepared LNEs. All formulations showed good entrapment efficiency ranging from 99.07 ± 0.01 to 99.28 ± 0.01% when separated using centrisart tubes and the drug content varied from 96.99 ± 0.94 to 99.06 ± 0.36%. Physical stability testing indicated the stability of all LNEs and optimized LNE-IL4 was found stable for 3 months at both refrigerated (4 °C) and room temperature (25 °C). During in vivo studies in wistar rats, the optimized LNE showed 2.47-fold improvement in the oral bioavailability and superior (1.22-fold) pharmacodynamic activity when compared to marketed tablet suspension (Ilosure-4®) in suppressing the hyperlocomotor activity, being induced by MK-801 (Dizocilpine).Chagas disease is the neglected tropical disease of greatest public health impact in the United States, where it affects over 300,000 people. Diverse barriers limit healthcare access for affected people; fewer than 1% have obtained testing or treatment. We interviewed 50 people with Chagas disease in Los Angeles, California, and administered a cultural consensus analysis questionnaire. Participants were asked about their experiences and perceptions of Chagas disease, access to healthcare, and strategies for coping with the disease. In participants' narratives, the physical and emotional impacts of the disease were closely interwoven. Participant explanatory models highlight difficulties in accessing care, despite a desire for biomedical treatment. Obtaining testing and treatment for Chagas disease poses substantial challenges for US patients.Clethodim is one of the most widely used herbicides in agriculture and, after field application, is metabolised to several metabolites. The potential toxicological negative effects of these compounds are poorly understood. Thus, recently, within the risk assessment framework, the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) proposed to include the minor metabolites in the definition of clethodim residue. In this work, an easy to use and reliable UHPLC method coupled with a triple quadrupole MS/MS was developed and validated for the detection and quantification of the herbicide clethodim and related metabolites clethodim sulphone, clethodim sulphoxide, metabolites M17R and M18R in apple, grape, olive and rice. The five analytes were extracted by using a modified QuEChERS procedure, while the active ingredients were determined in multiple reaction monitoring (MRM) ion-switching mode. The proposed method showed calibration curve linearity with r2 ≥ 0.990 for all active ingredients (a.is.) both in solvent and matrix extracts. Limits of quantitation (LOQ) of the five compounds ranged from 9.44 µg/kg for M17R in olive extract to 11.01 µg/kg for clethodim in apple extract. Recoveries values ranged from 86% to 119% at two concentration levels (LOQ and 10xLOQ), while the intraday and interday precisions of the method were both below 10% in all cases. The method was successfully used for the quantification of the five a.is. in different food matrices. Furthermore, chronic dietary risk was investigated using a hazard quotients (HQ) method based on European dietary habits. The chronic dietary exposure risk quotients ranged from 1.0 × 10-5 (lower bound scenario) to 2.7 × 10-4 (upper bound scenario) which were significantly lower than 1. Data obtained indicate that the dietary exposure risks were acceptable for clethodim and its major and minor metabolites applied in apple, table grape, rice and table olive.
