Objective To explore the effects of B-cell lymphoma-2/adenovirus E1B 19 000 interacting protein 3 (BNIP3) on the migration and motility of human dermal microvascular endothelial cells (HDMECs) under hypoxia and the mechanism. click here Methods The experimental research method was applied. (1) HDMECs were divided into normoxia group received routine culture and hypoxia 6, 12, 24 h groups treated under hypoxia with oxygen volume fraction of 2% for corresponding time according to the random number table (the same grouping method below). Western blotting was used to detect the protein expressions of BNIP3 and microtubule-associated protein 1 light chain 3Ⅱ (LC3Ⅱ) in HDMECs. (2) HDMECs were divided into normoxia+ unloaded group, normoxia+ BNIP3 knockdown group, hypoxia+ unloaded group, and hypoxia+ BNIP3 knockdown group which were transfected with unloaded virus or BNIP3 knockdown virus and were subjected to normoxic or hypoxic treatment. The BNIP3 protein expression was detected by Western blotting and immunofluorescence sCs under hypoxia, and autophagy may be involved in the regulation migration of HDMECs by BNIP3.Pesticides are a vital component of modern agriculture. So, these chemical compounds could play a crucial role in maintaining high agricultural productivity. However, high-input intensive agricultural production systems in which more effective and widespread use of pesticides could harm human health and the environment. As we know, most of the farmers in developing countries used pesticides without taking the necessary precautions. The present study aims to assess farmers' knowledge and understand the pattern of use of pesticides in Oriental Morocco. We based our approach on a standardized questionnaire with 140 farmers to evaluate their knowledge, attitude, and awareness about the pictograms used on pesticide labels. The results show that the farmer had a low level of education; only 14% were in university. More than 65% overuse pesticides and 60% did not respect the pre-harvest interval. Many farmers did not know the standard pictograms used on pesticide labels, 90% acknowledged only the crossbones and the fire sign, and 33% gave false interpretation or misunderstood these pictograms. These results show that the farmers in Eastern Morocco seem to be ignorant of pesticide danger and lack of safety education. They have no idea how to deal with the pictogram on the pesticide label. Pesticide safety education is necessary to induce protective behavior among farmers and prevent the residue of pesticides in foodstuff. The comprehension of pictograms on pesticide labels is crucial to reduce the risk of poisoning.Twenty different batches of gels containing metaxalone and diclofenac potassium were prepared for topical application. These drugs act synergistically in the management of pain and inflammation. Gels were prepared by varying the type of gelling agent (ten batches each of hydroxyl propyl methyl cellulose and carbopol 934). The prepared gels were characterized and evaluated. Batch F7 emerged as the best batch on the basis of favourable pH, high drug content, homogeneity and drug release. HPLC (High-performance liquid chromatography) method validation of gel formulation was also carried out and the developed and validated method was found to be robust and accurate..
The use of a mouthwash as an adjunct to mechanical plaque removal may be useful to improve oral hygiene. In this study, cetylpyridinium chloride (CPC)-based mouthwashes containing sodium fluoride and xylitol (X-PUR Opti-Rinse 0.05% NaF and X-PUR Opti-Rinse 0.2% NaF) were evaluated for their antimicrobial activity against important oral pathogens associated with dental caries, periodontal disease, and candidiasis. Moreover, their biocompatibility and anti-inflammatory properties were assessed.
Materials and Methods Antimicrobial activity was determined using a disk-diffusion assay, a microplate dilution assay, and the European standard protocols for antiseptics. Microbicidal properties were assessed against both planktonic and biofilm cultures. An oral epithelial cell model was used to evaluate the biocompatibility of mouthwashes and their ability to attenuate cytokine secretion.
Results Using three different antimicrobial assays, the CPC-based mouthwashes were found to be highly supplemented with sodium fluoride (0.05% or 0.2%) and xylitol (10%) were highly active against important oral pathogens. Moreover, using an oral epithelial cell model, these mouthwashes were found to be biocompatible and to exhibit anti-inflammatory activity..Purpose The present study analysed the association between anaemia and dental caries in adolescents on the basis of predisposing factors and presence of severely decayed teeth. Conclusion This study suggests that anaemia and dental caries are associated in a population-based sample of adolescents and that predisposing factors and severely decayed teeth seem to be involved in this association..
Three commercial restorative glass-ionomer cements (GICs) were modified with 5% and 10 wt/wt% nanodiamond (ND) particles incorporated into the powder of the GICs. The aim of the study was to assess the percentage of surface fluoride increase on different materials, following 2% neutral sodium fluoride gel application (2% NSF). Materials and Methods The commercial GICs were FN, Fuji IX GP (GC); KU, Ketac Universal (3M Oral Care); and RSC Riva Self Cure (SDI). Grade 1 (Plasmachem) nanodiamond was used. Six specimens of each material were prepared using precise powderliquid ratios. After a 10-min setting time, the GICs were polished. The specimens were randomly divided into two groups control (group A) and test (group B). The samples were blot dried and group B received the 2% NSF gel for 2 min. The excess was wiped off with gauze and both groups were analyzed with SEM-EDS. Results Data analysis revealed that all the GICs and their respective ND modifications had a statistically significant surface fluoride the surface layer.Purpose Previous studies have shown that haemodialysis (HD) patients frequently suffer from xerostomia. This problem is associated with difficulties in oral functions, increased risk of oral diseases and interdialytic weight gain (IDWG). The aims of this preliminary study are to evaluate the efficacy and safety of topical dry mouth products in treating xerostomia in HD patients and their impact in reducing IDWG. Materials and Methods We included 25 HD patients that suffered from xerostomia and complied with inclusion criteria. Subjects received toothpaste, mouthwash and mouth gel for dry mouth. The duration of treatment was 4 weeks. Patients filled out a visual analogue scale (VAS) for xerostomia and Oral Heath Impact Profile (OHIP)-14 questionnaires. Clinical data and IDWG were collected of the medical history of HD patients. Questionnaires and IDWG were collected at baseline, 2 and 4 weeks post-treatment. Results Twenty-five patients completed the study (56% male and 44% female). The mean age was 63.52 ± 12.
