Functional elastomers with incredible toughness and stretchability are indispensable for applications in soft robotics and wearable electronics. Furthermore, coupled with excellent electrical and thermal properties, these materials are at the forefront of recent efforts toward widespread use in cutting-edge electronics and devices. PCNAI1 Herein, we introduce a highly deformable eutectic-GaIn liquid metal alloy-embedded natural rubber (NR) architecture employing, for the first time, industrially viable solid-state mixing and vulcanization. Standard methods of rubber processing and vulcanization allow us to fragment and disperse liquid metals into submicron-sized droplets in cross-linked NR without compromising the elastic properties of the base matrix. In addition to substantial boosts in mechanical (strain at failure of up to ∼650%) and elastic (negligible hysteresis loss) performances, the tearing energy of the composite was enhanced up to 6 times, and a fourfold reduction in the crack growth rate was achieved over a control vulcanizate. Moreover, we demonstrate improved thermal conductivity and dielectric properties for the resulting composites. Therefore, this work provides a facile and scalable pathway to develop liquid metal-embedded soft elastomeric composites that could be instrumental toward potential applications in soft-matter engineering.Development of economic strategy to synthesize hollow zeolite with widely tunable Si/Al ratios providing variable acidity is of great significance in industry. Here, a one-step and low-cost strategy without mesoporogen was successfully developed to synthesize single-crystal hollow ZSM-5 containing mesopores/macropores, with variable Si/Al ratios of about 14-∞ and 114-∞ at critical TPA+/SiO2 ratios of 0.05-0.1 and 0.05, respectively. This is the first time the usage of a large amount of TPAOH was avoided while breaking the traditional limitation of Si/Al ratio (25-50). The component of synthesis system and crystallization temperature acting as the vital roles in hollow structure has been confirmed by a series of characterization. Moreover, according to the investigation of the evolution process, a novel racing crystallization mechanism based on the competition relationship between surface crystallization and the internal dissolution rate was proposed for the first time. The racing crystallization mechanism and internal nonprotective aluminum become the crucial factors for synthesis. The prepared hollow ZSM-5 zeolites exhibit superior catalytic performance in the different acidity-catalyzed condensation involving large molecules between benzaldehyde and n-butyl alcohol as well as 2-hydroxyacetophenone, which is mainly attributed to the property acidity, more accessible active Al sites on the surface, and shorter diffusion path. By calculating, the effectiveness factor (η) of hollow zeolite is close to 1, further confirming its better mass transfer ability. The strategy has also been successfully extended to the synthesis of high-amount Fe-doped, Ga-doped, and B-doped hollow silicate-1.A scalable synthesis of high refractive index, optically transparent photopolymers from a family of low-viscosity multifunctional thiol and alkyne monomers via thiol-yne "click" is described herein. The monomers designed to incorporate high refractive index cores consisting of aryl and sulfide groups with high intrinsic molar refraction were synthesized starting from commercially available low-cost raw materials. The low-viscosity ( less then 500 cP) thiol-yne resins formulated with these new multifunctional monomers and a phosphine oxide photoinitiator underwent efficient thiol-yne polymerizations upon exposure to 405 nm light at 30 mW/cm2. In contrast to the previously reported thiol-ene systems, the kinetic profile of these photopolymerizations showed significant dependence on the nature of the thiol and alkyne monomers. However, the ability of the thiol-yne reaction to introduce a large number of sulfide linkages compared to that of thiol-ene systems yielded cross-linked high optical quality photopolymers with a polymer refractive index that exceeds 1.68 (nD/20 °C). Interestingly, the photopolymer formed from the least sterically hindered alkynyl thioether monomer 2b with flexible thioether core and the dithiol 1a exhibited unprecedented difference in the polymer refractive index as compared to that of the resin with polymerization-induced changes reaching up to 0.08. Furthermore, the implementation of these low-viscosity thiol-yne resins was demonstrated by preparing two-stage photopolymeric holographic materials with a dynamic range of ∼0.02 and haze less then 1.5% in two-dimensional high refractive index structures.
The goal of this study was to evaluate the relationship between pretransplant delayed gastric emptying (DGE) and posttransplant acute cellular rejection (ACR) in lung transplant recipients.

DGE is very prevalent (23% to 91%) after lung transplantation but pretransplant prevalence has not been well studied. DGE may lead to poor posttransplant outcomes by predisposing to microaspiration. Pretransplant testing for DGE may help identify patients at risk for negative posttransplant outcomes including ACR.

A retrospective review of a prospectively collected database of consecutive patients undergoing prelung transplant evaluation at a tertiary referral center from 2010 to 2015 was performed. Patients with pretransplant gastric emptying scintigraphy were included in the study. ACR diagnosis was made using International Society for Heart and Lung Transplantation (ISHLT) histologic criteria. Typical gastroparesis symptoms at the time of gastric emptying scintigraphy and pretransplant 24-hour pH impedance monitorer risk for adverse posttransplant outcomes as the majority of patients with DGE are asymptomatic.
The study was designed to assess drug costs for constipation therapy and to relate costs to markers of functional status.

Secretagogues have been introduced as new agents for the treatment of constipation. Previously published modeling studies suggested that improved productivity lowers the indirect disease burden and balances the higher drug costs.

Data were abstracted from the publicly available Medical Expenditure Panel Survey to identify adults with a functional gastrointestinal disorder who received a prescription for laxatives or secretagogues covering >2 days. Demographic data, recorded health care utilization and cost, and markers of functional status were extracted for the years from 2005 to 2017 to determine differences between participants treated with secretagogues or laxatives.

The cohort of 2006 persons was female predominant [67.8%; age 56.9 (55.8-57.9) years] and spent $92.89 (75.68-110.10) for medications treating constipation. The use of secretagogues (10.3% of the cohort) was the best independent predictor of constipation treatment costs.
