Female representation in urological meetings is important for gender equity.
Our objective was to examine the prevalence of "manels" or all-male speaking panels at urological meetings.
Urology meetings organized by major urological associations/societies from December 2019 to November 2020 were reviewed. Meeting information and details of the faculty were retrieved.
Primary outcomes were (1) the percentage of male faculty in all included sessions and (2) the overall proportion of manels. We made further comparisons between manel and multigender sessions. Male and female faculty were stratified by quartiles of publications, citations, and H-index, and their mean numbers of sessions were compared.
Among 285 meeting sessions, 181 (63.5%) were manels. The mean percentage of male faculty was 86.9%. Male representation was very high in urology meetings for most disciplines and urological associations/societies, except for female urology meeting sessions and those organized by the International Continence on.
Women are under-represented in urology meetings. Urological associations and societies should play an active role to ensure a more balanced gender representation.
Trans Oral Robotic Surgery (TORS) is a modality in the management of oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma(OPSCC). This study was planned to determine whether Selective Neck Dissection (SND) is oncological safe procedure even in patients with lymph node metastases.
OPSCC patients were divided into Modified Radical Neck Dissection (MRND) and SND groups. The outcome measures were overall survival (OS), disease-free survival (DFS) and regional recurrence free survival (RRFS).
Thirty-seven SNDs and 18 MRNDs were performed. Regional relapse rate was 6.1% in SND group whilst 18.8% in MRND group(p=0.19). The 5-year OS, DFS and RRFS rates' differences were not statistically significant between SND and MRND groups (p=0.40, p=0.42 and p=0.18, respectively). At multivariate analysis, advanced stage impacted the 5-year OS and DFS(HR=9.39, p<0.01 and HR=11.03, p=0.04).
The SND seems to be effective in a TORS framework. The indication should be accurately discussed by the multidisciplinary tumor board.

Non-motor symptoms (NMS) have been identified in some focal adult-onset dystonia. In the present study we aimed to evaluate the presence of NMS in patients with spasmodic dysphonia (SD), a focal action-induced dystonia that affects intrinsic laryngeal muscle control.
Seventeen SD patients and 17 control subjects not significantly different in age and sex were evaluated for the presence of NMS. Additionally, voice handicap index (VHI-10), reflux symptom index, neuropsychiatric symptoms and QoL were assessed by validated scales and questionnaires.
Patients' group significantly differed from control group in mild depressive symptoms (4.35 ± 3.9 vs. 1.47 ± 2; p=0.01), insomnia (35.3% vs. 14.7%; p=0.016), smell and taste loss (11.8% vs. 0%; p=0.033), swallowing difficulties (17.6% vs. 0%; p=0.007) and throat pain (17.6% vs. 0%; p=0.007). In the group of SD, there was no correlation between voice perception evaluated by VHI-10, number of NMS or QoL.
Patients with SD have a greater burden of depressive, smell, taste, and sleep NMS than control subjects.

Severe diseases in political leaders in power have often been hidden from citizens with the collaboration of personal physicians. TSU-68 The confidentiality of the patient-doctor relationship in special political circumstances should be reexamined and subjected to debate. Legal provisions to ensure total transparency of medical information about the health of heads of government should be implemented. Transparency ensures the trust of citizens.
The Mediterranean diet (MDiet) reduces morbidity and mortality. The lockdown that took place in Spain between the months of March and May 2020 may have led to behavioural changes. The aim of the present study was to assess adherence to the MDiet at the end of the lockdown period and to compare it with the situation prior to it.
Data were obtained by means of 2online questionnaires, one at the beginning of lockdown and the other at the end, completed by adults from the Spanish population, who responded anonymously and voluntarily. The assessment of adherence to the MDiet was carried out using 2questionnaires Mediterranean Diet Adherence Screener (MEDAS) and modified PREDIMED, which contained 14 questions each. Other variables included were age, gender, body mass index (BMI), autonomous community of origin, home living conditions, and level of studies achieved. At the end of the lockdown period, the comparison was made using the Student t statistic and the McNemar test.
A total of 207 people (137 women) pumption and adherence to the MDiet.
The devastating impact of the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic prompted the development and emergency use authorization of two mRNA vaccines in early 2020. Vaccine trials excluded nursing home (NH) residents, limiting adverse event data that directly apply to this population.
To prospectively monitor for potential adverse events associated with vaccination, we used Electronic Health Record (EHR) data from Genesis HealthCare, the largest NH provider in the United States. EHR data on vaccinations and pre-specified adverse events were updated daily and monitored for signal detection among residents of 147 facilities who received the first dose of vaccine between December 18, 2020 and January 3, 2021. For comparison, unvaccinated residents during the same time period were included from 137 facilities that started vaccinating at least 15days after the vaccinating-facilities.
As of January 3, 2021, 8553 NH residents had received one dose of SARS-CoV-2 vaccine and by February 20, 2021, 8371 residents had received their second dose of vaccine; 11,072 were included in the unvaccinated comparator group.
