The present research focuses on the role of collective, social influence and intraindividual processes in shaping preventive behaviours during the COVID-19 pandemic. In two correlational studies conducted in Spain, we explored the impact of participation in the ritual of collective applause (carried out daily for over 70 days during the lockdown) and perceived social norms in fostering behavioural adherence to public health measures, as well as the mediating role of perceived emotional synchrony and a sense of moral obligation. The first study (general population, N = 528) was conducted in June 2020, just after the end of the lockdown, and the second study (students, N = 292) was carried out eight months later. The results of the structural equations modelling (SEM) consistently confirmed that active participation in collective applause was linked to more intense emotional synchrony and indirectly predicted self-reported preventive behaviour. Perceived social norms predicted self-reported behavioural compliance directly and also indirectly, via feelings of moral obligation. The discussion addresses some meaningful variations in the results and also focuses on the implications of the findings for both theory and psychosocial intervention.The spread of COVID-19 infection has changed the world. However, in the "real-world" pathway, patients may delay seeking medical attention and it is variable who the patient decides to seek help from and some patients may be initially misdiagnosed. The eventual outcome will be recovery from the acute infection or death but there may be a spectrum of healthcare needs for patients from those who care for themselves in the community to those who are hospitalized and require intensive care. The patients may or may not have short- and long-term adverse effects. People infected with COVID-19 can take on different paths which depend on the patient's decision making, clinical decision making, and the patient's response to the infection. Desirable pathways are those where patients have good outcomes and also limit the transmission of the virus.
To determine whether early acute kidney injury affects mid-term renal function, to identify risk factors for impaired mid-term renal function, and to highlight the evolution of plasma creatinine and estimated glomerular filtration rate in the first 12 months after cystectomy and urinary diversion.

We conducted a single-center retrospective observational cohort study from 2000 to 2019. We included 900 consecutive patients undergoing cystectomy and urinary diversion. Patients with incomplete data and preoperative hemodialysis were excluded. Early acute kidney injury was defined as an increase in plasma creatinine of >50% or >26.5 μmol/L within 24 h after surgery. Multiple linear regression analysis was performed to model the association between risk factors and change in plasma creatinine and estimated glomerular filtration rate at 12 months.

Early acute kidney injury was diagnosed in 183/900 patients (20.3%) and was associated with significant mid-term plasma creatinine increase compared to preoperative value (+10.0 μmol/L [95% confidence interval -1.5, 25.0] vs +4.0 μmol/L [-7.0, 13.0]; P < 0.001). Similarly, a significant estimated glomerular filtration rate change was found (-11.2 mL/min [95% confidence interval -19.8, 0.6] vs -4.9 mL/min [-15.6, 5.3]; P < 0.001). In the linear regression model, early acute kidney injury increased creatinine at 12 months by 9.8% (estimated glomerular filtration rate decrease by 6.2 mL/min), male sex by 12.0%. Limitations include retrospective analysis from prospectively assessed data.

We extracted the clinical characteristics and outcomes information about 381 hospitalized patients infected with Delta variant and compared them with 856 patients diagnosed with Alpha variant infection in Zhejiang Province. The majority (85.3%) of patients infected with the Delta variant had received inactivated vaccine. The patients' condition was generally mild. Most of them were mild (35.7%) and common (62.7%) types. Only six patients (1.5%) were severe/critical types. During the follow-up period, patients infected with the Delta variant had longer hospital stays than the Alpha variant (24 [21-26] vs. 18 [14-24], p  less then  0.001). In addition, the unvaccinated patients infected with the Delta variant had a higher proportion of severe/critical cases than vaccinated patients (11.11% vs. 0.92%, p = 0.024) and a higher usage rate of glucocorticoids (38.89 vs. 14.77%, p = 0.017) and antibiotics (55.56% vs. 32.31%, p = 0.042) during hospitalization. The vaccine's efficacy against severe COVID-19 did not diminish over time for patients who received two doses of the inactivated vaccine. The disease types and clinical manifestations were generally mild in patients infected with the Delta variant, possibly associated with widespread vaccination with inactivated vaccines in China.
Proteinuria can be quantified through the measurement of the urine protein-to-creatinine ratio (UPC). Voided urine samples in cats are often exposed to a non-absorbable litter substrate prior to collection and urinalysis. Little is known about the effect exposure to such substrates has on pre-analytical variability of UPC measurements.

The aim of this study was to assess agreement between UPC measurements from urine obtained by cystocentesis before and after exposure to non-absorbent hydrophobic sand for 24hours.

UPCs were measured in 40 urine samples obtained by cystocentesis from 39 cats (baselineUPC). Urine was then exposed to non-absorbent hydrophobic sand litter for 24hours, recovered, and repeat UPCs were measured (litterUPC). Agreement between paired measurements and the presence of any bias or error was evaluated using Bland-Altman analysis Passing-Bablok regression analysis, respectively. Cohen's kappa was used to measure agreement for the International Renal Interest Society (IRIS) proteinuria classification of samples. Observed total error (TE
) was calculated for the laboratory analyzer and compared against absolute percentage changes in paired UPC measurements.

Neither proportional nor constant error was identified using Passing-Bablok regression between baselineUPC and litterUPC. Visual inspection of the Bland-Altman plot revealed good agreement, with 95% of paired measures falling within the limits of agreement (LOA). It was recently shown that pEDS is caused by a heterozygous missense mutation in C1R or C1S, which encode complement 1 proteases. Here, we report a familial case of pEDS with a novel heterozygous missense mutation, c.674G>C (p.R225P), in C1R (NM_001733.4). The case exhibited pretibial hyperpigmentation and extended periodontitis but neither skin extensibility nor joint hypermobility, suggesting that this mutation will expand the definition of pEDS.
To assess the technical performance of the apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) on a dedicated 3T radiotherapy scanner, using a standardized phantom and sequences. Investigations into factors that could impact the technical performance of ADC in the clinic were also completed, including changing the slice-encoded imaging direction and the reference sample ADC value.
