Preparing small-dose red cell concentrates (RCCs) is a common practice for pediatric and neonatal transfusions. However, there is a lack of quality monitoring data to indicate that both the preparation and storage of small-dose RCCs does not alter in vitro red cell quality. The present study seeks to provide data to support this practice.
To evaluate quality of stored small aliquots, six ABO/Rh matched leukoreduced citrate phosphate-dextrose/saline-adenine-glucose-mannitol (LR CPD/SAGM) RCCs were pooled and split into 30 ml aliquots, 80 ml aliquots, and a standard 290 ml unit, with testing performed for up to 43 days post-collection. To evaluate the impact of irradiation on small-dose RCC preparation, a total of 48 independent LR CPD/SAGM RCCs were used (non-irradiated n= 24; irradiated n= 24). Aliquoting with/without irradiation was performed within 7 days of collection and baseline testing was performed within 24 h of aliquot production.
Limited variability in hemolysis, mean cell volume, and extracellular potassium concentrations were seen between the different aliquot sizes throughout the 43-day storage period. Aliquot production did not accentuate damage based on any of these tested parameters in both the non-irradiated and irradiated subsets. A significant increase was seen in the potassium concentrations in the irradiated parent and aliquot samples relative to their non-irradiated counterparts.

To evaluate the exercise-induced hypoalgesic (EIH) effects of different types of physical exercise in individuals with neck pain.
Systematic review with meta-analysis.
An electronic search of six databases was completed to include studies assessing EIH effects on neck pain.
Randomized controlled trials, controlled trials, and observational studies that assessed before and immediate after-effects of a single session of physical exercise in people with neck pain were included. Two reviewers independently screened records, extracted outcomes, assessed the risk of bias, and rated the quality of evidence using the Grading of Recommendations Assessment, Development, and Evaluation (GRADE) approach.

This study examined the feasibility, acceptability, and preliminary effects of an internet-based eating disorders prevention program adapted specifically for adolescent girls with type 1 diabetes.
Thirty-five girls (16.2 ± 1.1 years) participated Body Project (T1D Style), a 4-week program consisting of four adolescent sessions focused on promoting illness acceptance, challenging sociocultural body image pressures, increasing social support, and teaching assertive communication. Caregivers participated in one session focused on fostering body image positivity and a healthy relationship with food. Pre-intervention, post-intervention, and 3-month follow-up surveys assessed disordered eating, body dissatisfaction, thin-ideal internalization, diabetes acceptance, diabetes distress, and quality of life. We undertook observations and semi-structured interviews (n = 28 participants) with managers, staff, residents who had experienced a stroke and their relatives in four homes in London, England, in 2018/2019. Thematic analysis revealed that residents' needs regarding valued activity and stroke-specific care and rehabilitation were not always being met. This resulted from an interplay of factors staff's lack of recognition of stroke and its effects; gaps in skills; time pressures; and the prioritisation of residents' safety. This work compares competing theoretical perspectives regarding the relationship between the dual model of dehumanization with dimensions of warmth and competence. We predicted that participants would dehumanize high warmth, low competence outgroups more animalistically, and dehumanize low warmth, high competence outgroups more mechanistically. Results instead supported the stereotype content view of dehumanization, such that graded dehumanization occurred with the removal of warmth and competence. This work helps to clarify previous research and provides insight into way in which people evaluate outgroup stereotype content and the dehumanization of such outgroups. It is always a difficult problem to find efficient and low-cost adsorbents. Chicken manure (CM) and Chinese medicine residue (CMR) were modified with potassium dihydrogen phosphate (KH2 PO4 ) and pyrolyzed to obtain a modified material (PBC) for the treatment of Pb(II) in an aqueous solution. A variety of characterization analysis results could prove that KH2 PO4 was successfully introduced to PBC. By adjusting the initial pH, the zeta potential of PBC varies from -3.2 to -43.1 mV, it could be seen that PBC had excellent applicability in the broad range pH value (1.0-6.0). Experimental and model results showed that R2 of the pseudo-first order kinetic model and the pseudo-second order kinetic model are greater than 0.99, indicating that that physical and chemical adsorption played a significant role in Pb(II) removal by PBC. An adsorption isotherm analysis showed that the adsorption capacity n in this study is greater than 1, confirming that PBC has a good adsorption effect on Pb (II). R2 of the Langmuir model of PBC is 0.981, and its maximum adsorption capacity of Pb(II) could reach 599.4 mg/g. Environmentally friendly PBC could be used as an effective adsorbent to remove Pb(II) from aqueous systems. As conventional pathology, diagnosis is based on color images, it is not as informative as hyperspectral imaging, which introduces spectroscopy into imaging techniques. This article combines microscopic hyperspectral image (HSI) with deep learning networks to assist in the diagnosis of precancerous lesions in gastric cancer (PLGC). A large scale microscopic hyperspectral PLGC dataset with 924 effective scenes is built and self-supervised learning is adopted to provide pretrained models for HSI. These pretrained models effectively improve the performance of downstream classification tasks. Furthermore, a symmetrically deep connected network is proposed to train with images from different imaging modalities and improve the diagnostic accuracy to 96.59%.
