During COVID-19 pandemic, optimization of the diagnostic resources is essential. Lung Ultrasound (LUS) is a rapid, easy-to-perform, low cost tool which allows bedside investigation of patients with COVID-19 pneumonia. We aimed to investigate the typical ultrasound patterns of COVID-19 pneumonia and their evolution at different stages of the disease.

We performed LUS in twenty-eight consecutive COVID-19 patients at both admission to and discharge from one of the Padua University Hospital Intensive Care Units (ICU). LUS was performed using a low frequency probe on six different areas per each hemithorax. A specific pattern for each area was assigned, depending on the prevalence of A-lines (A), non-coalescent B-lines (B1), coalescent B-lines (B2), consolidations (C). A LUS score (LUSS) was calculated after assigning to each area a defined pattern.

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the short- and long-term protective effects of chlorophyllin as an antioxidant molecule on DNA damage, antioxidant enzyme activities, trace elements, and minerals in chemically induced breast cancer model in vivo. In our study, N-methyl-N-nitrosourea (MNU) was used for inducing breast carcinogenesis in female Sprague-Dawley rats. A total of 36 rats were divided into groups as short term and long term. Each group was divided into four sub-groups as control group received physiological saline solution (n = 3), Chl group (n = 5) received chlorophyllin, MNU group (n = 5) was administered MNU, and Chl + MNU group (n = 5) was treated with both chlorophyllin and MNU. Results illustrated that chlorophyllin had a significant anti-genotoxic effect in the short term, and glutathione-related enzyme activities were protected by chlorophyllin treatment in MNU-induced breast cancer model. Additionally, MNU administration impaired mineral and trace element levels including Na, Mg, K, Fe, Zn, and Co in the liver, kidney, spleen, heart, and tumor tissues; however, adverse effects of MNU were recovered upon chlorophyllin treatment in the indicated tissues of the rats. In conclusion, chlorophyllin can be used as an antioxidant molecule to ameliorate adverse effects of MNU by enhancing antioxidant enzyme activities and regulating trace element and mineral balance in several organs and tumor tissue in the breast cancer model.Given environmental contamination with toxic metals, diets that promote the elimination of these metals from the body of individuals, including those suffering from obesity, are urgently needed. The aim of this study was to determine the effects of supplementation with resveratrol (Res), L-carnitine (L-Car), tyrosine (Tyr), and tryptophan (Trp) on the content of trace elements in the organs of mice. DBA/2J mice and DBCB tetrahybrid mice received diets high in carbohydrate and fat supplemented with Res, L-Car, Tyr, or Trp for 65 days. In the liver, kidneys, and brain, the contents of 18 elements, including Al, As, Cu, Fe, Mn, Pb, Se, and Zn, were determined by inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry. Res, L-Car, Tyr, and Trp had minimal or no effect on the essential elements (Fe, Mg, Cu, Zn, Se) in all organs studied. The Mn content notably increased in the organs of mice consuming L-Car and Trp. Mn accumulation was stimulated by Res in organs exclusively in DBCB mice and by Tyr exclusively in livers and brains of DBA/2J mice. Al levels were significantly reduced by L-Car and Trp in all organs of the mice, by Res in only DBCB mice, and by Tyr in only kidneys and livers of DBA/2J mice. In addition, L-Car and Trp decreased Pb accumulation in most organs of mice. Res and Tyr also inhibited Pb accumulation in some cases. Thus, the studied supplements affected the metabolism of trace elements, which may contribute to dietary treatments for obese individuals.Knowing target regions undergoing strfuncti changes caused by behavioural interventions is paramount in evaluating the effectiveness of such practices. Here, using a systematic review approach, we identified 25 peer-reviewed magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) studies demonstrating grey matter changes related to mindfulness meditation. An activation likelihood estimation (ALE) analysis (n = 16) revealed the right anterior ventral insula as the only significant region with consistent effect across studies, whilst an additional functional connectivity analysis indicates that both left and right insulae, and the anterior cingulate gyrus with adjacent paracingulate gyri should also be considered in future studies. Statistical meta-analyses suggest medium to strong effect sizes from Cohen's d ~ 0.8 in the right insula to ~ 1 using maxima across the whole brain. The systematic review revealed design issues with selection, information, attrition and confirmation biases, in addition to weak statistical power. In conclusion, our analyses show that mindfulness meditation practice does induce grey matter changes but also that improvements in methodology are needed to establish mindfulness as a therapeutic intervention.
Infertility is a major health problem that affects both the family and the community. Women receiving infertility treatment may suffer from stress and even experience sleep disturbance. Sleep quality is an important factor of human health and well-being. Sleep disturbances tend to occur among infertile women during in vitro fertilization treatment. Many studies have focused on the stress and sleep quality associated with their treatment in infertile women. However, few studies have investigated factors linked to their sleep disturbances.

This study investigated the relationship between perceived stress and sleep quality before oocyte pick-up, in vitro fertilization-embryo transfer, and pregnancy test in women receiving in vitro fertilization treatment.

Thisprospective, longitudinal study was conducted between January and May 2020. One hundred fifty-seven women receiving infertility treatment were included in the study. A personal information form, the Perceived Stress Scale (PSS), and the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) were used to collect data.
