Appropriate end of life (EOL) management in Internal Medicine wards is challanging. The aim of this study was to analyze the burden of an educational program on EOL management in a Internal Medicine ward. Materials and methods We retrospectively analysed characteristics and management of patients consecutively died in an italian Internal Medicine ward along one year. We compared demographic, co-morbidity, pharmacological treatment in the last 48-hours of life and procedures during hospital stay in patients died six months before and after an educational program on palliative cares and EOL management addressed to a team of physicians and nurses.

Study population was composed by 354 patients (190 females), with mean age ± DS 83.5 ± 10.6 years, one half admitted after the educational program. Eighty-four percent of deaths was exepected in the last 48 hours before exitus. Demographic characteristics and causes of hospitalization were not different before and after educational program. After the educational pr it should be strongly encour-aged.
In recent years, the flow of migrants and refugees to EU nations is recorded in high amounts. By travelling through ships or nonhygienic boats most of them tend to have a high amount of risk in getting health issues. However, getting proper healthcare is a funda-mental human right since refugees or migrants can actively contribute to the development of host countries and their native nationalities. Therefore, in this paper, we try to explore the common diseases that happened to migrants who travel to Italy in recent years.

We analyzed the Italian refugees' data provided by the Italian health ministry in the years 2013-16, and explore the key pathologies and their medical conditions. All the data correctly clas-sified and analyzed depending on their age, gender, and pathologies that they posses.

From 2013 to 2016, in total, 455,912 refugees were trav-elled into Italy. 74% male, 12% female, and 14% of minor refugees were recorded during this period. In pathologies, rashes or skin dis-eases (scabies) were happening in often and after scabies pregnancy issues were observed on a considerable scale. Similarly, brain-related problems and surgeries were recorded at the lowest in number.

The postoperative diagnosis was thymoma type AB, stage III. After surgery, he was treated with radiation therapy neoadjuvant. At the 5-year follow-up, recurrence was not observed. Ectopic thymoma in the middle mediastinum has been reported in 26 other cases in the literature. Most were classified as thymoma type A or AB, and all were stage I or II. Most of them were located in the upper right mediastinum, adjacent to the right trachea, and in the retro innominate vein area. Objectives. Atrial fibrillation (AF) is a clinically relevant supra-ventricular arrhythmia which represents an independent risk factor for development of heart failure and ischemic stroke. The present study aims at the investigation of the possible clinical role of the soluble sST2 biomarker to evaluate the fibrosis in a group of patients with first diagnosed or permanent AF. The possible association with the left atrium size is also studied. Materials and Methods. The serum concentrations of the biomarker have been measured in a group of 58 patients (mean age 83.6 ± 6.0 years) and 40 individuals, assumed healthy and without AF, constituted the control group. The analysis is carried out by means of a high-sensitivity enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. Results. The mean concentration of sST2 is 26.1 (22.7-30.5) ng/mL in the AF group, while in the control is 17.3 (15.7-18.9) ng/mL. Remarkable differences have been obtained for the two subsets with first diagnosed (23 (21.2-24) ng/mL) and permanent AF (30.5 (2 of fibrillating patients. Infratentorial CPP is predominantly clustered in adults with roughly 70% in the fourth ventricle, while supratentorial CPP commonly found in the lateral ventricles, is the most frequent location in children. The clinical and imaging features of CPP are not typical and may induce the misdiagnosis as other types of primary brain tumors. In this paper, we described a fourth-ventricular CPP that was misdiagnosed as ependymoma despite the manipulation of groundbreaking magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) sequences. These findings indicated that CPP should be considered when performing the differential diagnosis of intraventricular neoplasms.
