猪瀬の先行研究では、信仰を図るために客観的な測定が比較的容易である宗教的活動の「実践」に焦点を合わせ、実際的な信仰活動を入信第2世代以降が継続している場合に信仰継承をしたとみなすこととしている。そのため、本論文においてもこの信仰継承の定義を採用する。松緑神道大和山における信仰活動の具体例としては、日々の礼拝を行うこと、儀礼・祭事に参加すること、青年会に参加すること、御慰霊書を書くことが挙げられる。ただ、猪瀬の先行研究で取り上げている創価学会とは教団の規模や性質がまったく異なること、実践的な信仰活動の重要度・優先度に大きく差があることを留意する必要がある。
創価学会では、日々の勤行・唱題や会合・座談会に参加することといった実践的な信仰活動を行うこと自体が非常に重要とされている。信仰活動への参加が見られない信者には、他の信者が連絡したり、家へ訪問したりして、活動の参加を呼びかけるような場合もあり、活動に対する強制度も高い。定期的に教団や信者と関わる機会を設けることで、
一方、松緑神道大和山では青年会への参加といった実践的な活動はあるものの、それらを行うこと自体は重要ではない。もちろん、参加することが望ましいが任意であり、教団や他の信徒から信仰活動を催促されるようなこともない。信仰活動を行うこと自体、神観念や思想を理解し、実践・活動はあくまでもその結果として現れるものという認識が強い。
