Perinatal brain injury is a major cause of neurological disability in both premature and term infants. In this review, we summarize the evidence behind some established neuroprotective practices such as administration of antenatal steroids, intrapartum magnesium for preterm delivery, and therapeutic hypothermia. In addition, we examine emerging practices such as delayed cord clamping, postnatal magnesium administration, recombinant erythropoietin, and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory agents and finally inform the reader about novel interventions, some of which are currently in trials, such as xenon, melatonin, topiramate, allopurinol, creatine, and autologous cord cell therapy. Investigations with non-pharmacological therapies, focused on physical therapy, have increased in recent years as alternative therapies for the treatment of fibromyalgia. The CT showed a subarachnoid hemorrhage FISHER IV with a hematoma of the right cerebellum. The angiography discovered a persistent left trigeminal artery associated with an aneurysm of the right posterior meningeal artery. The attempt of embolization failed and the patient suffered cerebral vasospasm and died. The persistence of a trigeminal artery is found in 0.1-0.6% of the population. It is the most frequent embryological carotid-vertebral anastomosis. It appears at the fifth week of development and disappears when the embryo reaches 5-7 mm. This embryological persistence is associated with numerous vascular abnormalities. The literature review showed the presence of those aneurysms in the trigeminal artery itself or the communicating artery. The association that we described is the first to our knowledge. Risk factors include familial adenomatous polyposis, antecedent surgical trauma and estrogen exposure. We described a previously healthy 27-year-old female in whom a desmoid tumor developed 2 years after a Roux-en-Y gastric bypass was performed for the treatment of obesity. Computed tomography scan demonstrated a 16-cm complex density intra-abdominal mass. Exploratory laparotomy was performed, revealing a mass firmly adherent to the Roux limb, as well as the jejunojejunostomy and distal portion of the bilopancreatic limb. En bloc resection of the mass and the Roux limb was required, as well as reconstruction of the Roux-en-Y anatomy. This case describes a unique, long-term complication of bariatric surgery, in light of a growing population of patients with altered gastric anatomy. All rights reserved. © The Author(s) 2020.Mammary adenoid cystic carcinoma (ACC) is extremely rare tumors, comprising less then 0.1% of all breast cancers. Moreover, lymph node metastasis is less then 2% of mammary ACC. Here, we report a case of 51-year-old female presented with painful mass on her left breast and left axillary lymph node enlargement. Core needle biopsy revealed invasive ductal carcinoma. Left lumpectomy and axillary lymph nodes dissections were performed. The final pathological report showed triple-negative mammary ACC arising with high grade ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS) and axillary lymph node metastasis. Immunohistochemistry study is useful in confirming a diagnosis. Given the rarity of this cancer, natural history of disease is still not clearly understood. Complete surgical excision is the mainstay of treatment. To our best knowledge, mammary ACC presenting with DCIS and axillary lymph node metastasis has never been reported and should be considered in the differential diagnosis of breast cancers. Abdominal computed tomography demonstrated a bowel obstruction with evidence of intussusception. Laparotomy revealed an irreducible ileoileal intussusception and segments of the jejunum infiltrated with pigmented deposits. There was no perforation and no evidence of an ulcerating or fungating mass. Intestinal melanoma is not an uncommon sequela of cutaneous melanoma, yet the disease can occur as a primary intestinal process, albeit this is a rarity. Surgical resection is the primary treatment modality and may offer the hope of increased symptom-free survival and overall survival for those patients suffering from metastatic or primary melanoma of the small intestine. This case describes an 80-year-old man presented with acute abdominal pain, nausea and vomiting, with no prior surgical history. Computed tomography was performed and showed a closed loop short bowel obstruction in the right lower quadrant and ascites. Laparoscopy revealed pericecal internal hernia. This is a viscous protrusion through a defect in the peritoneal cavity. Current operative treatment modalities include minimally invasive surgery. Laparoscopic repair of internal herniation is possible and feasible in experienced hands. It must be included in the differential diagnoses of every patient who presents with abdominal pain.
