Additionally, ethylene and ERFs were found to be vital factors that function in melon during adventitious rooting. This study broadens our understanding of the mechanisms that underlie adventitious rooting induced by waterlogging and lays the theoretical foundation for further molecular breeding of waterlogging-tolerant melon.

High demand for production and use of plastic additives is associated with environmental accumulation and various health hazards. Proteasome inhibitor One of the suitable methods of depleting plastic additive in the environment is bioremediation as it offers cost-efficiency, convenience, and sustainability. Microbial activity is one of the effective ways of detoxifying various compounds as microorganisms can adapt in an environment with high prevalence of pollutants. The present review discusses the use and abundance of these plastic additives, their health-related risks, the microorganisms capable of degrading them, the proposed mechanism of biodegradation, and current innovations capable of improving the efficiency of bioremediation.Microbial exopolysaccharides (EPS) are high molecular weight polymers having different sugar residues. EPS have potential applications in different fields, such as medicine, food and environment. Therefore, there is a growing interest in production, characterization and application of EPS from different microorganisms. The present study designed to investigate the production and characterization of EPS from Rhodotorula mucilaginosa YMM19 isolated from Morus nigra L. fruits as well as to examine their potential emulsifying properties. Effect of NaCl concentration, incubation period and pH on the production of EPS was studied. The maximum EPS production by yeast was achieved at 10% NaCl (9741.84 mg/l). The best incubation time for production of EPS was 5 days. Production of EPS decreased under neutral condition and increased at acidic and alkaline condition. The structural feature of EPS was examined by FT-IR and NMR spectral analysis and confirmed the presence of glucose, glucopyranose and galactose. The isolated EPS showed higher emulsification capacity with emulsification activity of 71% and emulsifying index of 60%. The EPS gave strong emulsification for farnesol and was more effective than sodium dodecyl sulphate, a reference emulsifier, in enhancing the herbicidal activity of farnesol against Melilotus indicus under greenhouse condition. The results suggest that the EPS produced by YMM19 strain has a potential to be used as emulsifying agent in pesticide formulations.Total flavones of Glycyrrhiza uralensis Fisch (GTF) are main components of Glycyrrhiza uralensis Fisch, which have anti-oxidation and lipid-lowering effects. However, its protective effects on the intestinal tissue of tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) are unknown. The aims of the study were to evaluate the protective effects of GTF on the intestinal tissue of tilapia after high-fat diet (HFD) feeding. Tilapia (initial weight 30 ± 1 g) received diets containing four doses of GTF (0.05, 0.1, 0.5, and 1.0 g/kg diet) for 90 days. The intestinal tissues were collected to determine biochemical parameter, gene expression and protein level. The results showed that the HFD reduced antioxidant indexes and increased the fat level, lipid oxidation products in the intestinal tissue relative to the control. Adding GTF to the HFD resulted in an increase of antioxidant indexes, fat level and lipid oxidation products decreased after 60, 90 days. In the HFD group, mRNA level of fatty acid transport protein 1 (FATP1) was increaseissue of tilapia.Maduramicin, a polyether ionophore antibiotic used as an anticoccidial feed additive in poultry, is toxic to animals and humans and can cause heart failure. The present study was initiated to explore the underlying mechanism of toxicity in H9c2 myocardial cells. We observed using cell imaging and counting methods that maduramicin inhibited cell growth in a concentration-dependent manner. Furthermore, MTT assays showed that maduramicin inhibited cell proliferation in a concentration- and time-dependent manner, and was also confirmed by the finding that maduramicin time dependently blocked the incorporation of BrdU into DNA in H9c2 myocardial cells. Further studies revealed that maduramicin induced accumulation of the cells at G0/G1 phase of the cell cycle and concurrently, there was down regulation of expression of Cyclin D1. In addition, exposure to maduramicin pruned phosphorylation of AKT at both T308 and S473 sites. Finally, we found that pre-treatment of H9c2 myocardial cells with AKT activator SC79, attenuated the inhibitory effects of maduramicin on Cyclin D1 expression and cell proliferation. Collectively, our results suggest that maduramicin-suppressed AKT-Cyclin D1 signaling which results in G0/G1 phase cell cycle arrest, leading to the inhibition of myocardial cell proliferation.Grain hardness is the single most important trait in determining technological properties and end-use quality of wheat product. This trait is controlled by two genes (Pina-D1 and Pinb-D1) at the Hardness (Ha) locus. Soft endosperm kernels are characterized by the presence of alleles 'a' in both genes (Pina-D1a and Pinb-D1a), while the medium hard and hard grain is the result of deletion in the Pina-D1 gene or single mutation of the Pinb-D1 gene. The aim of the current study was to determine the relationship between common wheat grain hardness and the presence of puroindoline genes. Eighty-one spring common wheat cultivars from Europe were analysed for grain hardness by SKCS (Single Kernel Characterization System) and Pin-D1 genes. The analysed genotypes were divided into three hardness classes hard, medium and soft and they showed four allelic combinations in Pin-D1 genes. The SKCS results showed that hard wheat was the major type in European cultivars, whereas molecular analysis showed differential allelic combinations of puroindoline genes among these classes.
