Clinicopathologic Popular features of Hydroa Vacciniforme-Like Lymphoma: A few In search of Individuals.
A broad literature indicates that pathogen, sexual, and moral disgust sensitivity relate to, among other things, political attitudes, moral condemnation, and symptoms of psychopathology. Consequently, disgust sensitivity has been widely assessed across subfields of psychology. Yet, no work has examined whether self-reports in disgust sensitivity reflect systematic trait variation that is detectable by others, and the extent to which such variation is distinct from broader personality. Here, we present the first study to examine self-other agreement in pathogen, sexual, and moral disgust sensitivity. Romantic partners (n₁ = 290), friends (n₂ = 212), and acquaintances (n₃ = 140) rated each other on these three domains of disgust sensitivity and on HEXACO personality. Correlations between dyad partners' self and other ratings were calculated to estimate the magnitude of self-other agreement. We found self-other agreement in all domains of disgust sensitivity (rs of .46, .66, and .36 for pathogen, sexual, and moral disgust sensitivity, respectively), with this agreement weakly to moderately inferred from personality perceptions (percentages mediated by HEXACO were 15%, 7%, and 33% for pathogen, sexual, and moral disgust sensitivity, respectively). These results suggest that pathogen, sexual, and moral disgust sensitivity reflect systematic trait variation that is detectable by others and distinct from broader personality traits. However, context-related variability in mood and emotional memory has received insufficient attention, while the dynamic interaction between these factors plays a crucial role in the kindling of new depressive episodes. Experience Sampling Method (ESM) for repeated, daily life measures of context, mood, and autobiographic emotional memory was used in 46 currently depressed, 90 remitted-depressed, and 55 never-depressed individuals. Currently depressed individuals showed strongest negative processing style and never-depressed most positive, with remitted-depressed patients scoring intermediate. The moderated mediation model indicated that context appraisal had a direct effect on the appraisal of the recalled event (i.e., our operationalization of emotional memory), which was mediated by positive (but hardly by negative) mood and was independent of depression status. This mediation strength was relatively similar to the strength of the direct effect of context on memory. Results are in line with cognitive theories of depression. Especially context seems important for emotional memory. The association between context, mood, and memory, however, may be independent of depression status. Yet, the "level" of mood, context, and event appraisal does depend on depression status. Method Data were analyzed from 195 audiotaped MI sessions targeted to employment conducted with 39 veterans with SMI. Sessions were coded and analyzed to identify components of MI practice predictive of taking any step in the direction of CE (e.g., asking for a referral to supported employment or conducting a job search). Predictor variables were (a) counselor MI talk behaviors and adherence to MI technical and relational principles and (b) client intensity and frequency of change talk and sustain talk. Covariates were age, gender, race, duration of unemployment, receipt of disability income, health status, work importance, work confidence, mental health diagnosis, and session number. selleck chemicals Generalized estimating equations were used to create multivariate models. Results After controlling for session number, work importance, work confidence and duration of unemployment, variables significant in the adjusted multivariate model were intensity of client change talk and sustain talk and counselor adherence to MI technical principles of cultivating change talk and softening sustain talk. Conclusions and Implications for Practice Findings suggest that change talk and sustain talk during counseling sessions are associated with taking a step toward employment and that counseling focused on cultivating change talk and softening sustain talk increases the likelihood that unemployed veterans with SMI will take steps toward becoming competitively employed. This can result in mixed evaluative reactions that are associated with feeling conflicted and undecided (i.e., felt ambivalence). In the present research, we examined whether expectations of receiving mixed information could dampen felt ambivalence compared to situations where the mixed information was instead unexpected. In six experiments, expectancies of receiving mixed information-either explicitly provided or implied via patterns of behavior-led people to feel less ambivalent about a target person who had engaged in mixed social behaviors. Expectations of mixed information reduced felt ambivalence to receipt of such information in comparison to having no explicit expectancies (Studies 1-3, 5-6), negative expectancies (Study 2), positive expectancies (Study 3), and compared with expectancies formed merely on the basis of behavioral patterns (Study 4). The extent to which people felt that their expectancies of mixed information regarding the target were confirmed (vs. disconfirmed) significantly accounted for the reductions in felt ambivalence. Finally, lower felt ambivalence via manipulated expectations accounted for reduced decision time in a workplace simulation about recommending promotion or termination of an employee (Study 6). Overall, these findings bridge the extensive literatures in attitudes, social judgment, and expectations, showing that expecting mixed information can lead to reductions in felt ambivalence that have consequences for behavior.
