The results indicate that the proposed system can compensate for the position errors of INS with satisfactory performance.In strain-hardening cement-based composites (SHCC), polypropylene (PP) fibers are often used to provide ductility through micro crack-bridging, in particular when subjected to high loading rates. For the purposeful material design of SHCC, fundamental research is required to understand the failure mechanisms depending on the mechanical properties of the fibers and the fiber-matrix interaction. Hence, PP fibers with diameters between 10 and 30 µm, differing tensile strength levels and Young's moduli, but also circular and trilobal cross-sections were produced using melt-spinning equipment. The structural changes induced by the drawing parameters during the spinning process and surface modification by sizing were assessed in single-fiber tensile experiments and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) of the fiber material. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM), atomic force microscopy (AFM) and contact angle measurements were applied to determine the topographical and wetting properties of the fiber surface. The fiber-matrix interaction under quasi-static and dynamic loading was studied in single-fiber pull-out experiments (SFPO). The main findings of microscale characterization showed that increased fiber tensile strength in combination with enhanced mechanical interlocking caused by high surface roughness led to improved energy absorption under dynamic loading. At the time of publication, there are non-effective pharmacological treatments, and vaccine distribution represents an important challenge for all countries. In this sense, research for novel molecules becomes essential to develop treatments against the SARS-CoV-2 virus. In this context, Mexican natural products have proven to be quite useful for drug development; therefore, in the present study, we perform an in silico screening of 100 compounds isolated from the most commonly used Mexican plants, against the SARS-CoV-2 virus. As results, we identify ten compounds that meet leadlikeness criteria (emodin anthrone, kaempferol, quercetin, aesculin, cichoriin, luteolin, matricin, riolozatrione, monocaffeoyl tartaric acid, aucubin). According to the docking analysis, only three compounds target the key proteins of SARS-CoV-2 (quercetin, riolozatrione and cichoriin), but only one appears to be safe (cichoriin). ADME (absorption, distribution, metabolism and excretion) properties and the physiologically based pharmacokinetic (PBPK) model show that cichoriin reaches higher lung levels (100 mg/Kg, IV); therefore, it may be considered in developing therapeutic tools.In the current research, the potential of Spanish-style green olive processing wastewaters (lye and washing waters) exploitation toward natural β-carotene production by Blakeslea trispora was tested for the first time. Mating culture generated by the joint cultivation of the heterothallic fungal strains ATCC 14271 and 14272 in the non-sterile lye and washing waters was able to grow, achieving the phytotoxic hydroxytyrosol degradation by 57.3% and 66.8%, respectively. However, the low sugar and nitrogen content of the streams did not favor carotenogenesis. Alternatively, in the nutrient-enriched effluents, a notable quantity of β-carotene was produced, accounted for 61.2 mg/L (lye) and 64.1 mg/L (washing waters) (82-88% of total carotenoid content). Above all, enriched streams had a noteworthy stimulating effect on the β-carotene synthesis, because both the maximum β-carotene yield per volume of enriched effluents and specific β-carotene production rate were higher when compared with the respective values obtained from trials with synthetic reference medium without added effluents. Hydroxytyrosol and tyrosol showed high stability during the non-sterile process for β-carotene production by B. trispora grown in the enriched effluents. This finding strengthens the potential toward the generation of multiple high-value products, which could lower the natural β-carotene production costs.Environmental stress is one of the most important factors affecting plant growth and development. Recent studies have shown that epigenetic mechanisms, such as DNA methylation, play a key role in adapting plants to stress conditions. Here, we analyzed the dynamics of changes in the level of DNA methylation in Arabidopsis thaliana (L.) Heynh. (Brassicaceae) under the influence of heat stress. For this purpose, whole-genome sequencing of sodium bisulfite-treated DNA was performed. The analysis was performed at seven time points, taking into account the control conditions, heat stress, and recovery to control conditions after the stress treatment was discontinued. In our study we observed decrease in the level of DNA methylation under the influence of heat stress, especially after returning to control conditions.
