Chinese cities, experiencing extensive expansion and intensive warming, spanning a wide latitudinal range, might provide ideal experimental opportunities for observing and predicting phenological responses to warming temperature. Using the urban-rural gradient approach, we explored urbanization imprint on land surface phenology across the entire urbanization intensity (UI) gradient ranging from 0% to 100% in 343 Chinese cities using the VIIRS Land Surface Phenology along with MODIS Land Surface Temperature (LST) products. We found prevalent advancing and delaying trends for the start of the growing season (SOS) and the end of the growing season (EOS) with increasing UI across 343 Chinese cities, respectively. Overall, the phenology shifted earlier by 8.6 ± 0.54 days for SOS, later by 1.3 ± 0.51 days for EOS, and lengthened by 9.9 ± 0.77 days for the growing season length (GSL) in urban core areas (UI above 50%) relative to their rural counterparts (UI lower than 1%). The temperature sensitivity of SOS and EOS was 10.5 ± 0.25 days earlier and 2.9 ± 0.16 days later per 1°C LST increase in spring and autumn, respectively. Moreover, the northern cities witnessed higher temperature sensitivity for SOS and EOS than the southern ones. Both spring and autumn temperature sensitivity across these 343 cities would likely decrease with future urban warming, suggesting any projections of future phenological responses to continued warming must be approached with caution.Facile and modular access to stereodefined disubstituted aldehyde-derived silyl enol ethers allowed their successful application in a stereoselective aldol reaction affording the products with excellent yields and diastereomeric ratios. Tobacco smoking prevalence in Indonesia is among the highest in the world. Research worldwide identifies that physical access to tobacco through retail outlets is related to increased tobacco smoking. Tobacco outlet density is very high in many Indonesian cities, so tobacco access may contribute to the high prevalence of tobacco use in that country. SMS 201-995 The aim of this study was to examine distributions of tobacco outlets in one Indonesian city, Yogyakarta, in relation to social and physical environmental conditions.

For this cross-sectional ecological study, we virtually audited randomly selected street segments (n = 1099) using Google Street View. The outcome of interest was a count of tobacco advertising banners (indicating the presence of retail outlets). Exposures were physical environmental conditions (scales of main roads, physical decay, presence of schools, mosques, churches) and social conditions measured at the neighbourhood level (concentrated disadvantage, age composition, population density).

Tobacco banners were present on 36.4% of sampled street segments, including 55 (37%) of 147 streets with schools; a total of 1381 banners were identified. Multilevel negative binomial regression models for street segments nested within neighbourhoods found the prevalence of tobacco banners per 100 m was lower near schools (RR = 0.66, 95% CI 0.45, 0.97) and was not associated with other exposure measures.

Electron counting rules, chemical bonding analysis, and magnetic response properties verify the silicon unit's aromaticity persistence. One of the main challenges posed by the surgical deep brain stimulation (DBS) procedure is the successful targeting of the structures of interest and avoidance of side effects, especially in asleep surgery. Here, intraoperative motor evoked potentials (MEPs) might serve as tool to identify the pyramidal tract. We hypothesized that intraoperative MEPs are useful to define the distance to the pyramidal tract and reduce the occurrence of postoperative capsular side effects.

Motor potentials were evoked through both microelectrode and DBS-electrode stimulation during stereotactic DBS surgery on 25 subthalamic nuclei and 3 ventral intermediate thalamic nuclei. Internal capsule proximity was calculated for contacts on microelectrode trajectories, as well as for DBS-electrodes, and correlated with the corresponding MEP thresholds. Moreover, the predictivity of intraoperative MEP thresholds on the probability of postoperative capsular side effects was calculated.

Intraoperative MEPs thresholds correlated significantly with internal capsule proximity, regardless of the stimulation source. Furthermore, MEPs thresholds were highly accurate to exclude the occurrence of postoperative capsular side effects.

Intraoperative MEPs provide additional targeting guidance, especially in asleep DBS surgery, where clinical value of microelectrode recordings and test stimulation may be limited. As this technique can exclude future capsular side effects, it can directly be translated into clinical practice.
