It is well known that incobotulinumtoxinA (INCO) is an effective approved treatment for dynamic wrinkles of the upper face caused by the action of mimetic muscles over time. In doing so, it is important to maintain a balance between muscle groups and a natural facial appearance. Patients differ enormously in their facial anatomy regarding structure and function, both within and between genders, ethnicities, and age. Therefore, treating all patients with the same injection pattern and the same doses can result in undesired outcomes. There is a need for a tailored approach to achieve optimal results, as well as to increase patient satisfaction. With this in mind, the novel one21 injection technique which allows for individualized treatment has been developed for the treatment of horizontal forehead lines using INCO, resulting in a positive impact on eyebrow position and shape. This technique is the next step in a customized approach, giving natural-looking results and high patient satisfaction. © 2020 de Sanctis Pecora.Dermatomyositis is an idiopathic myopathy involving progressive muscle weakness with skin manifestation. see more Diagnosis is based upon the progressive muscle weakness, skin rashes, elevated serum muscle enzymes, muscle biopsy, and abnormal electromyogram. The incidence of dermatomyositis is rare. In this case study, we report a case of classical dermatomyositis without incidence of malignancy. Timely diagnosis and administration of steroid led to better prognosis of the patient. © 2020 Pokhrel et al.Purpose This study aimed to investigate how resveratrol (RSV) improves high-fat diet (HFD)-induced hepatic insulin resistance in mice via microRNA (miRNA) mmu-miR-363-3p in vitro and in vivo. Materials and Methods C57BL/6J mice were fed a HFD for 8 weeks to establish an insulin resistance model. The model mice were treated or not with RSV for 6 weeks. Differential miRNA expression in mouse liver tissues was analyzed by high-throughput sequencing. Mouse HepG2 cells were treated with palmitic acid (PA) to establish a cell model of insulin resistance. HepG2 cells were transfected with mmu-miR-363-3p inhibitor or mimic, and the expression of PI3K-Akt signaling pathway-related proteins was analyzed. Results Based on the high-throughput sequencing analysis, mmu-miR-363-3p was identified as a major miRNA involved in the action of RSV on insulin resistance. Based on KEGG pathway enrichment analysis, PI3K-Akt signaling was found to be significantly enriched among differentially expressed miRNAs, and this pathway is closely related to insulin resistance. RSV treatment reduced the expression of FOXO1 and G6PC, which are downstream of the PI3K-Akt pathway. In the cell model, mmu-miR-363-3p inhibitor significantly suppressed p-Akt and p-PI3K levels, but enhanced those of FOXO1 and G6PC. In contrast, mmu-miR-363-3p mimic significantly enhanced the p-Akt and p-PI3K levels, but suppressed FOXO1 and G6PC expression, which was similar to the effect of RSV. Conclusion RSV improves insulin resistance by upregulating miRNA mmu-miR-363-3p via the PI3K-Akt pathway. © 2020 Shu et al.Laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy (LSG) is an effective treatment option in patients with morbid obesity, with rare long-term sideeffects. In this report, we present a 42-year-old woman who reported positional vertigo and unilateral gradual hearing loss plus continuous tinnitus after LSG. The patient had no signs or symptoms of mental health disorders and the results of the haematological and serum biochemical tests were normal. However, audiometric test revealed mild sensorineural hearing loss with magnitude in high-frequency tones. Also, acoustic reflex threshold showed neural pathway damage, particularly at high frequencies, with no reflex. Pure tone audiometry showed signs of nerve damage in the inner ear. One possible justification for these complications might be eustachian tube dysfunction due to muscle relaxation. Muscle relaxation itself may occur as a result of adipose tissue loss around the ear muscles. Further evidence, however, would be required to better determine whether these complications are attributable to LSG, and to illuminate exact underlying reasons for such complications. © 2020 Tabasi et al.Purpose The present study was designed to determine the relationships between sarcopenia and diabetic peripheral neuropathy (DPN) in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) and diabetic foot disease (DFD) respectively. Patients and Methods A total of 1104 patients with T2DM and 257 patients with DFD were included in the study, which was designed as a cross-sectional study. Body composition was assessed using dual-energy X-ray-absorptiometry (DXA). The diagnosis of sarcopenia was based on the Baumgartner criteria. DPN was assessed by Neuropathy symptom score (NSS) and Neuropathy disability score (NDS), and the severity of neuropathy was divided into non-neuropathy symptom (NS), Mild NS, Moderate NS and Severe NS according to NSS. Logistic regression analyses were carried out to determine the relations of sarcopenia and DPN in patients with T2DM and NSS in patients with DFD, respectively. Results The prevalence of DPN was 80.0% in T2DM patients with sarcopenia and 70.3% in non-sarcopenia patients (P=0.007). Logistic regression analyses showed DPN was one of the independent risk factors for sarcopenia in T2DM patients (OR 1.564 [95% CI 1.004, 2.435], P=0.048). The prevalence of DPN had no statistical significance in DFD patients with or without sarcopenia. However, the NSS of DFD patients with sarcopenia was higher than that of non-sarcopenia patients. In the multivariate logistic regression analysis, NSS was determined to be associated with sarcopenia in DFD patients (OR 1.387[95% CI 1.074, 1.789], P=0.012). The appendicular lean mass (ALM) of DFD patients without NS was higher than patients with mild, moderate and severe NS (20.71±2.73 vs 16.57±3.62 vs 17.99±3.54 vs 17.23±3.29 Kg, P=0.028). Conclusion DPN is an independent risk factor for sarcopenia in patients with T2DM and NSS is also independently correlated with sarcopenia in patients with DFD, with the latter being more obvious with the aggravation of neurological symptoms in DFD patients. © 2020 Yang et al.
