tified factors associated with their general confidence with computer use in their practice. These findings would help decision-makers and CE providers design learning materials for pharmacists to improve their computer literacy for better practice and patient care.[This corrects the article DOI 10.1186/s40104-020-00482-x.].BackgroundChlamydomonas reinhardtii, a green micro-alga can be grown at the lab heterotrophically or photo-heterotrophically in Tris-Phosphate-Acetate (TAP) medium which contains acetate as the sole carbon source. When grown in TAP medium, Chlamydomonas can utilize the exogenous acetate in the medium for gluconeogenesis using the glyoxylate cycle, which is also present in many bacteria and higher plants. A novel bacterial strain, LMJ, was isolated from a contaminated TAP medium plate of Chlamydomonas. We present our work on the isolation and physiological and biochemical characterizations of LMJ. Methods Several microbiological tests were conducted to characterize LMJ, including its sensitivity to four antibiotics. We amplified and sequenced partially the 16S rRNA gene of LMJ. We tested if LMJ can utilize cyclic alkanes, aromatic hydrocarbons, poly-hydroxyalkanoates, and fresh and combusted car motor oil as the sole carbon source on Tris-Phosphate (TP) agar medium plates for growth. Results LMJ is a gram-nega to sequence its genome.A benign lymphoepithelial cyst (BLEC) is defined as a rare, benign lesion composed of single or multiple cysts found within salivary glands or the lateral cervical area. Increasing reports suggest an association between BLEC and human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), although its pathogenesis remains unclear. We report a 51-year-old male who presented with recurrent bilateral BLECs after initial parotidectomy of cyst. see more An HIV panel was then performed with a positive result. We review the surgical and medical managements of BLEC while also discussing further treatment recommendations. Clinicians should be aware that BLEC recurrence postparotidectomy may be the initial presenting symptom of HIV in a patient with no risk factors.Colonic lipomas are the most widespread non-epithelial tumours of the large bowel. They often present with absent, non-specific or intermittent symptoms. Intussusception is the most common complication that may occur as a result of such a lesion. We present the case of a young female patient with a history of intermittent abdominal pain associated with nausea. She presented to the emergency department with subacute large bowel obstruction. A diagnosis of colo-colic intussusception due to a large descending colonic lipoma was confirmed on CT scan. The patient underwent a laparoscopic assisted submucosal excision of the lipoma. We discuss this unique operative technique as well as preoperative investigations and histopathology findings. Although successful endoscopic excision of lipomas has been reported, segmental resection of the colon is most commonly practiced. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first report of laparoscopic assisted submucosal excision of an intussuscepting colonic lipoma.Chyle leak following axillary lymph node clearance is a rarely reported complication. We present a case of chylous leakage following axillary lymph node clearance, which was diagnosed on clinical grounds. Surgical re-exploration was undertaken due to ongoing high output. However, the chylous leak recurred post-operatively, if at a lower rate. The patient was subsequently managed successfully with conservative measures, primarily utilizing regular aspiration and compression bandaging to the axilla.Laparoscopic cholecystectomy (LC) carries a significant risk of gallbladder perforation and resulting scattering of bile stones into the abdominal cavity. The retrieval of the spilled stones is not always possible by laparoscopic technique. Most cases do not create long-term problems, although some cases may be complicated in future and create uncertainties regarding the correct diagnosis. Diagnosis can be difficult, and in most cases the patient may require open surgery for management of these complications. Herein, we report a case of acute abdomen due to spilled stones occurring 10 years after LC. In the first stage, definitive diagnosis could not be made with computed tomography examination. Finally, the patient was diagnosed with explorative laparotomy. An 8-year-old girl was admitted with four limb weakness for 2 months. Hyperactive reflexes were observed in all four limbs, and positive Hoffmann's signs were revealed. An MRI spine with the coronal slide detected two tumors, first in the intradural and intramedullary space at the C2-C4 level and the second in the intradural and extramedullary space at the C5-C7 level. Axial T1W contrast MRI brain showed a tumor in the left parietal region. The patient underwent spine surgery first and following by brain surgery. No invasive lesions were remarked during surgery. Histological findings showed meningothelial meningioma and ependymoma from the spine and rhabdoid meningioma from the brain. Two months after the second surgery, the patient recovered fully with no symptoms and was able to participate in all regular activities in life. This work is the first report of a mixed tumor with distinct spinal meningioma and ependymoma components occurring in the cervical spinal cord at the C2-C7 level and coexisting with cranial meningioma. The remarkable result was that the patient fully recovered without any symptoms after receiving two surgeries.Adolescent gastric cancers are extremely rare with a reported incidence of 0.05-0.10% in North America. We present a de novo case of gastric carcinoma in a 17-year-old teenager with no concomitant family history or risk factors. His main clinical presentation included anaemia and melaena stools. Despite an extensive clinical workup that included a diagnostic laparoscopy, the tumour was deemed surgically irresectable, and he was started on a palliative chemotherapy protocol at the local paediatric oncology centre. He demised 7 months later. This is the first recorded case of an adolescent gastric cancer in Saskatchewan, Canada. This case highlights the need for an international tumour registry to document and investigate rare adolescent gastric malignancies and thereby potentiate a possible cure through the pooling of limited resources.
