The particular characteristics of each school network need to be considered when developing school-based interventions.Mechanical properties of glass fiber reinforced polymer (GFRP) composites degrade under the combined effects of mechanical load and alkaline solution, affecting the service ability and safety of GFRP reinforced structures. In this study, GFRP bars were loaded with cyclic tension at different stress levels and immersed in alkaline solution for days to investigate the tensile properties and degradation law of GFRP bars. The degradation mechanisms were studied at micro-, meso- and macro-scales with scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and three-dimensional X-ray microscopy, respectively. The results show that tensile strength and degradation rate of GFRP bars are mainly dependent on the different stress levels and alkaline solution. When stress level is higher, the tensile strength degrades more quickly, especially in the early stages of soaking. With the loading and immersion time, the elastic modulus and Poisson's ratio increase at first and then decrease. The ultimate tensile strain is relatively stable, whereas the ultimate elongation is significantly reduced. A strength-degradation model was proposed and fit well with experimental data, demonstrating that the model can be applied to predict tensile strength degradation under combined effects of the load and alkaline solution.The documentation of diurnal patterns in body temperature in lions could be important because disruption of circadian patterns can be a useful measure of distress. This study quantified changes in body temperature of seven African lions (Panthera leo) at 5 min intervals during cold conditions from noon until the ingested body temperature loggers were expelled the next day. Thirteen loggers were fed to 11 lions during their daily noon feeding, while ambient temperatures were also recorded using six data loggers. The lions had continuous access to their dens and exercise pens during the day but were restricted to their heavily bedded dens that also contained a heat lamp from 2300 until 0800 the next day. Body temperatures averaged 37.95 ± 0.42 °C at 1550, and 36.81 ± 0.17 °C at 0650 the next day, 30 min before the first loggers passed from a lion, and were significantly different (t-test, t = 8.09, df = 6, p less then 0.0003). Therefore, the objective of this work was to determine (a) the efficacy of aerobic training to improve CRF; (b) the role of aerobic training intensity (moderate or vigorous) on CRF response; (c) the effect of the aerobic training mode (continuous or interval) on changes in CRF in women with breast cancer (BC) receiving chemotherapy. A systematic review and meta-analysis were conducted as per PRISMA guidelines, and randomized controlled trials comparing usual care (UC) and aerobic training in women with BC undergoing chemotherapy were eligible. The results suggest that increases in CRF are favored by (a) aerobic training when compared to usual care; (b) vigorous-intensity aerobic exercise (64-90% of maximal oxygen uptake, VO2max) when compared to moderate-intensity aerobic exercise (46-63% of VO2max); and (c) both continuous and interval aerobic training are effective at increasing the VO2max. Aerobic training improves CRF in women with BC undergoing chemotherapy. Notably, training intensity significantly impacts the VO2max response. Where appropriate, vigorous intensity aerobic training should be considered for women with BC receiving chemotherapy.With the widely used monthly gravity models, it is hard to determine the sub-monthly variations. Thanks to the high temporal resolution, a daily ITSG-Grace2018 gravity model is employed to derive the vertical deformation of the China region in 1.0° × 1.0° grids. The standard deviations of residuals between the daily and monthly averaged displacement range from 1.0 to 3.5 mm, reaching half of the median residuals, which indicates that a higher temporal resolution gravity model is quite necessary for the analysis of crustal displacement. For the signal analysis, traditional least square (LS) is limited in its analysis of signals with constant amplitude. However, geophysical signals in a geodetic time series usually fluctuate over long periods, and missing data happen. In this study, the data adaptive approach called enhanced harmonic analysis (EHA), which is based on an Independent Point (IP) scheme, is introduced to deal with these issues. To demonstrate the time-varying signals, the relative differences betwewell even with continuously missing data, which is regarded as its feature. Meanwhile, not only a single signal but also simultaneous signals can be effectively identified by EHA.(1) Introduction Epiconus and conus medullary syndromes that consisted of drop foot, pain, numbness, bladder or bowel dysfunction are serious problems might be caused by lumbar disc(s) herniation (LDH) compression. (2) Objective To evaluate percutaneous discectomy effectivity for decompressing LDH lesions. (3) Case Report Three patients suffered from drop feet, numbness, and bowel and bladder problems due to LDH compression. Patient #1 is a male (35 years old, basal metabolism index (BMI) = 23.9), point 1 on manual muscle test (MMT), with protrusion on L3 to S1 discs; Patient #2 is a female (62 years old, BMI = 22.4), point 3 on MMT, with protrusion on L2-4 and L5-S1 discs; Patient #3 is a female (43 years old, BMI = 26.6), point 4 on MMT, with extrusion on T12-L1 and L1-2 and L3-4 protruded discs. Six months follow-up showed of stand and walkability improvement with Patient #1 and #2. Patient #3 showed improvement in bowel and bladder problems within 10 weeks, without suffering of postoperative pain syndromes.
