We herein report a case of chronic invasive FRS (CIFRS) in a 58-year-old Japanese male with end-stage diabetic nephropathy that required maintenance dialysis after graft rejection of living kidney transplantation. His initial main clinical presentation was sinus gangrene, which gradually progressed from the paranasal sinus to the nasal septum and oral palate, but not towards the intracranial or orbital region, for two months. The patient was first strongly suspected to have extranodal natural killer/T cell lymphoma (ENKTL), nasal type, a subtype of malignant lymphoma, based on the macroscopic appearance of the gangrene, expansion pattern and high serum soluble interleukin-2 level; however, repeated biopsies and eventual resection led to diagnosis of CIFRS due to Aspergillus niger and Mucor. The disease was improved by surgical resection in combination with antifungal pharmacologic treatment with liposomal amphotericin B and voriconazole. CIFRS typically occurs in immunocompetent patients and shows intracranial progression, but this case shows that atypical CIFRS with an uncommon expansion pattern can occur in an immunodeficient patient.Although some animal studies suggested that the use of ACEIs/ARBs could contribute for the prevention and treatment of the effects of the COVID-19 infection, there are also contradictory scenarios indicating that their use may exacerbate the deleterious conditions of the infection. As a result of the paradoxical issue of using ACEIs/ARBs during COVID-19, it is still an area requiring extended investigation to prove. Drug-induced immune hemolytic anemia (DIIHA) is a rare but serious adverse event associated with a number of drugs, including second- and third-generation cephalosporins. A positive direct antiglobulin test (DAT) is a reliable finding in DIIHA, but positive results without evidence of hemolysis can occur, particularly in hospitalized patients. There have been no reports of hemolytic anemia in four previous Phase 3 trials or from post-marketing surveillance of the advanced-generation, broad-spectrum cephalosporin, ceftobiprole. The aim of this analysis was to review the incidence of positive DAT results and any evidence of hemolytic anemia from three recent Phase 3 trials of ceftobiprole.

To explore the risk factors, pathogenic bacteria distribution and drug resistance of systematic transrectal ultrasound-guided prostate biopsy (TRUS-Bx), 329 cases of TRUS-Bx were collected, retrospectively, in the Second Affiliated Hospital, Army Military Medical University, from April 2017 to October 2019.

A total of 329 cases were all qualified and grouped into the SIRS group (25 cases) and the non-SIRS group (304 cases). Of all the cases, incidence and risk factors of systemic inflammatory response syndrome (SIRS) were analyzed. Urine and blood samples of patients with SIRS after TRUS-Bx were also collected for bacterial culture and drug sensitivity test.
