06% vs. 66.67%, P = 0.003). The subgroup analysis revealed that ECIRS was more efficacious than Mini-PCNL for complex renal calculi with medium and high S-ReSC scores (P = 0.002). A nonsignificant but relatively lower postoperative complication rate was noted in the ECIRS group (7.5 vs. 16.0%, P = 0.12). With the exception of postoperative hospitalization days (P  less then  0.001), significant difference was not detected between the two groups for other procedure-related information. ECIRS in the GMSV position is an effective and safe treatment especially for medium and severe complex nephrolithiasis, with significant higher SFR in the single session and relatively low procedure-associated morbidity compared to Mini-PCNL.
This is a prospective study aiming to assess the efficacy of α-blockers in treating radiotherapy-induced symptoms of the lower urinary tract and its possible prophylactic role on acute urinary retention (AUR) in patients undergoing radical external beam radiotherapy (EBRT) for localized prostate cancer (PCa).

Overall, 108 patients with localized PCa were recruited and randomly assigned in to two groups; 54 patients of Group 1 received tamsulosin 0.4mg once daily with the initiation of EBRT and for 6months and 54 patients of Group 2 served as the control group. All patients received radical EBRT and had post-void volume (Vres) assessment. The International Prostate Symptom Score (IPSS) questionnaire and evaluation of episodes of AUR were performed after the end of radiotherapy, at 3 and at 6months.

The incidence of AUR was significantly (p = 0.027) lower in group 1 compared to group 2. No independent predictive factors for AUR were identified in regression analysis. The IPSS changes in univariate and multivariate analysis at 3months showed significant correlation with α-blockers only, while at 6months showed significant correlation with Vres assessments (at 3 and 6months) and with α-blockers. Side effects due to medication were mild and none of the patients discontinued the treatment.

The selective use of α-blocker appears to prevent AUR in EBRT-treated patients. Although the administration of α-blockers might relieve patient-reported symptoms, there are no established independent predictive factors to distinguish patients who may benefit.

The current COVID-19 pandemic is transforming our urologic practice and most urologic societies recommend to defer any surgical treatment for prostate cancer (PCa) patients. It is unclear whether a delay between diagnosis and surgical management (i.e., surgical delay) may have a detrimental effect on oncologic outcomes of PCa patients. The aim of the study was to assess the impact of surgical delay on oncologic outcomes.

Data of 926 men undergoing radical prostatectomy across Europe for intermediate and high-risk PCa according to EAU classification were identified. Multivariable analysis using binary logistic regression and Cox proportional hazard model tested association between surgical delay and upgrading on final pathology, lymph-node invasion (LNI), pathological locally advanced disease (pT3-4 and/or pN1), need for adjuvant therapy, and biochemical recurrence. Kaplan-Meier analysis was used to estimate BCR-free survival after surgery as a function of surgical delay using a 3month cut-off.

Median follow-up and surgical delay were 26months (IQR 10-40) and 3months (IQR 2-5), respectively. We did not find any significant association between surgical delay and oncologic outcomes when adjusted to pre- and post-operative variables. The lack of such association was observed across EAU risk categories.

Delay of several months did not appear to adversely impact oncologic results for intermediate and high-risk PCa, and support an attitude of deferring surgery in line with the current recommendation of urologic societies.

The European Society for Sports traumatology, Knee surgery and Arthroscopy (ESSKA) identified the need to develop a core curriculum for clinical specialists that work within the interest areas of ESSKA. A research-based approach was used to define a set of core competencies which could be used to map all of their educational activities, resources and development priorities. This paper describes the aims, development, results and implications of this competency-based core curriculum for orthopaedic conditions relevant to ESSKA members.

A Core Curriculum Working Group, with leaders and other experts representing the main specialist areas within ESSKA, reviewed existing curricula and the literature in their own specialist areas. Applying expert group methodology, they iteratively developed a draft list of 285 core competencies for Orthopedic specialists within 6 specialist areas of Knee, Shoulder, Foot/Ankle, Hip, Elbow/Forearm and Sports/Exercise. All ESSKA members were then asked to comment and rate the imcy-based core curriculum for Orthopedic specialists was achieved through a systematic and scholarly approach, involving both expert opinion and engagement of the wider ESSKA membership, identifying 285 treatment competencies in 6 specialist areas. It is now being used to guide educational and strategic development for ESSKA and should also be of interest to the wider orthopedic and sports medicine communities.
To assess the reliability, validity and responsiveness of the Hindi version of the Knee Injury and Osteoarthritis Outcome Score (H-KOOS) in osteoarthritic knee.

Two hundred and fourteen patients of osteoarthritis knee (OA) between 40 and 80years of age were evaluated with H-KOOS, Short form health survey (SF12v2) and the WHOQOL-BREF questionnaire. The H-KOOS was re-evaluated after 48h in 125 patients to assess the test-retest reliability. For responsiveness, 40 patients were treated with the intra-articular hyaluronic acid injection, and the effect was assessed after 6weeks.

Most of the domains in H-KOOS did not show a ceiling effect. Rapamycin solubility dmso The floor values were observed in 3.75% of patients in sports/recreation function and 2.75% of patients in Quality of life (QoL). The test-retest reliability was excellent with the Intraclass-Correlation-Coefficient (ICC) ranging from 0.89 to 0.94. Internal consistency as assessed using Cronbach's alpha coefficient was acceptable for pain, activities of daily living (ADL) and sport/recreation function (range 0.
