There were some studies that estimated no association possibly due to the presence of confounding factors such as influenza-like illness, low power of the study, and reporting bias in post-vaccination surveillance programs. GSB should be taken into consideration as one of the less common but serious side effects of the influenza vaccine but it should not adversely affect the acceptance of the influenza vaccination program. Continuous monitoring of influenza vaccine safety should be performed regularly.
Autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease (ADPKD) is the commonest inherited disorder of the kidneys. A vasopressin V2-receptor antagonist (tolvaptan) was recently approved for the treatment of ADPKD. This study aims to analyze the safety and tolerability of tolvaptan for the management of ADPKD patients in a real-world setting.
We conducted a descriptive retrospective study in ADPKD patients in an outpatient clinic setting in Spain from 2018 to 2019. Descriptive statistical analysis of demographics and clinical data, at baseline and one year after tolvaptan initiation, was assessed. Data are presented as medianand interquartile range, and as frequencies for categorical variables.
Ten patientswith ADPKD were identified. At baseline median age was 49.5 (38.5-63.5) years and 60% were males. During treatment with tolvaptan, no significant aquaresis-related symptoms or hepatotoxicity were described. No serious adverse events, discontinuation, or deaths were reported during the study.
Tolvaptan was well-tolerated without severe adverse events in patients with ADPKD who showed rapid disease progression criteria. Longer follow-up is required to learn about the long-term effects of this treatment.

This preliminary study evaluates intrafraction prostate displacement for two immobilization systems (A and B). Six consecutive patients having localized prostate cancer and implanted prostate marker seeds were studied. Planar X-ray images were acquired pre- and post-treatment to find the intrafraction prostate displacement. AHPN The average absolute displacements (lateral, longitudinal, vertical) were 0.9 ± 0.4 mm, 1.7 ± 0.1 mm, 1.3 ± 0.3 mm (system A), and 0.5 ± 0.2 mm, 0.6 ± 0.1 mm, 0.8 ± 0.3 mm (system B), with average three-dimensional displacements of 2.6 ± 0.2 mm (system A) and 1.3 ± 0.2 mm (system B). The computed CTV-PTV margins (lateral, longitudinal, vertical) were 2.5 mm, 2.5 mm, 3.6 mm and 1.4 mm, 1.6 mm, 2.4 mm for systems A and B, respectively. This suggests that the immobilization system influences intrafraction prostate displacement and, therefore, the margins applied. However, the margins found for both systems are comparable to the margins used for hypofractionated prostate SBRT.Gender dysphoria (GD) describes an incongruence between a person's assigned and expressed gender and the distress associated with it. The management of GD ideally involves a team of healthcare professionals, including psychiatrists, endocrinologists, and surgeons, and may include one or more of the following - psychotherapy, hormone therapy, and gender reassignment surgeries. While Pakistan still has a sizeable population of the traditional 'khwaja siras' or 'hijras,' many young transgender Pakistanis are now adopting global transgender identities and seeking sex-reassignment procedures from a state-run healthcare system, which still heavily discriminates against them. In spite of the passage of a new law protecting the fundamental human rights of transgendered Pakistanis, they continue to be oppressed and deprived of education, employment, and healthcare. This case report describes one such young transman from a low-income Pakistani household, who, owing to the legal red tape, family pressure, religious disapproval, and hefty hospital expenses, is left with only two options - to undergo unsafe, unstandardized procedures at the hands of quacks or live the rest of his life trapped in the wrong body. There is a dire need for a wide-scale awareness campaign to educate and sensitize the general public about transgender rights. Medical students must also be exposed to transgender patients during their medical school training in order to familiarize them with the special medical needs of transgender individuals.Introduction Opioid use was primarily limited to acute pain, postsurgical care, and end of life care setting but now is the most prescribed medication for chronic pain. Arthritis is a chronic disease associated with chronic pain. Given limited options for pain relief in the patient population, these patients are often prescribed opioids and are at increased risk of opioid use disorder (OUD). Therefore, our study aimed to identify factors associated with OUD in patients with arthritis. Methods We analyzed hospitalized adult patients with arthritis with and without OUD using discharge data from National Inpatient Sample (NIS) over five years from January 1, 2010, to December 31, 2014. We looked at trends of OUD in hospitalized patients with arthritis and compared demographic and clinical characteristics of patients with and without OUD using Student's t-test and chi-square test. Multivariate analysis was also used to adjust for variables. Results A total of 21,396,252 arthritis hospitalizations were identified during the five-year study period among which 227,608 had OUD. The prevalence of OUD in arthritis hospitalization increased over the five-year period by 43%. After adjusting for other variables, mental health (OR 2.50 (2.43-2.58)), and substance use (OR 6.39 (6.14-6.66)) disorders were associated with increased odds of OUD. Conclusion The prevalence of OUD among patients with arthritis increased over the five-year study period. Mental health and substance use disorders were associated with increased odds of OUD. More studies are needed to explore alternative pain management options for arthritis patients particularly in those with mental health and substance use disorders.
