5% in the controls (group x time interaction, F1,24 = 12.88; p = .002). Hierarchical stepwise regression analyses indicated improvements in VO2max significantly predicted enhancement in SF as indexed by self-, informant-, and clinician-reported measures, predicting 47%, 33%, and 25% of the variance, respectively (controlling for baseline demographics, medications, mood symptoms, and social networks). Compared to the TAU group, AE participants reported significant improvement in SF (23.0% vs. - 4.2%; group × time interaction, F1,24 = 7.48, p = .012). The results indicate that VO2max enhancement leads to improvements in SF in people with schizophrenia. Furthermore, low VO2max represents a modifiable risk factor of SF in people with schizophrenia, for which AE training offers a safe, non-stigmatizing, and nearly side-effect-free intervention.
Pseudoaneurysm (PA) after pancreaticoduodenectomy (PD) is a harmful complication due to postoperative pancreatic fistula. However, the preventive method for PA is unclear. This study aimed to assess the risk factors for PA after PD and to evaluate the clinical features of patients with PA.
Medical records of 54 patients who underwent PD and developed clinically relevant postoperative pancreatic fistula (POPF) were retrospectively reviewed. We evaluated postoperative computed tomography (CT) findings, including the perianastomotic fluid collection (PFC) location on postoperative day 4. Perioperative findings and postoperative CT findings were compared between patients with and without PA after PD.
The PA group included nine patients (17%). The median postoperative day of diagnosis of PA was 17 (range, 7-33). The PA locations were the gastroduodenal artery stump (n= 3), dorsal pancreatic artery (DPA) stump from the common hepatic artery (n= 4), DPA stump from the replaced right hepatic artery (n= 1), and inferior pancreaticoduodenal artery stump (n= 1). The prevalence of falciform ligament wrap to the hepatic artery was lower (33% vs. 78%, p = 0.014) and superior PFC prevalence was higher (100% vs. 58%, p = 0.019) in the PA group than in the non-PA group. Superior PFC reached the dorsal part of the caudate lobe of the liver in all patients with PA. Furthermore, all PAs occurred at the arteries that could not be wrapped by the falciform ligament.
Prevention of superior PFC and falciform ligament wrapping may reduce PA occurrence after PD with clinically relevant POPF.

In this work, the biotechnological vanillin production by Amycolatopsis sp. ATCC 39116 is studied using ferulic acid as precursor, aiming to achieve maximized vanillin productivities. During biotech-vanillin production, the effects of glucose, vanillin and ferulic acid concentrations in the broth proved to be relevant for vanillin productivity. Concerning glucose, its presence in the broth during the production phase avoids vanillin conversion to vanillic acid and, consequently, increases vanillin production. To avoid the accumulation of vanillin up to a toxic concentration level, a multiple-pulse-feeding strategy is implemented, with intercalated vanillin removal from the broth and biomass recovery. This strategy turned out fruitful, leading to 0.46 g L-1 h-1 volumetric productivity of vanillin of and a production yield of 0.69 gvanillin gferulicacid-1, which are among the highest values reported in the literature for non-modified bacteria.Chicken infectious anemia (CIA), caused by chicken anemia virus (CAV), is an important immunosuppressive disease that seriously threatens the global poultry industry. Here, we isolated and identified 30 new CAV strains from CAV-positive flocks. The VP1 genes of these strains were sequenced and analyzed at the nucleotide and amino acid levels and were found to have very similar nucleotide sequences (> 97% identity); however, they showed 93.9-100.0% sequence identity to the VP1 genes of 55 reference strains. Furthermore, alignment of the deduced amino acid sequences revealed some unique mutations. Phylogenetic analysis indicated the division of VP1 amino acid sequences into two groups (A and B) and four subgroups (A1, A2, A3 and A4). Interestingly, 22 of the newly isolated strains and some Asian reference strains belonged to the A1 group, whereas the remaining eight new isolates belonged to the A3 group. To evaluate the pathogenicity of the epidemic CAV strains from China, the representative strains CAV-JL16/8901 and CAV-HeN19/3001 and the reference strain Cux-1 were selected for animal experiments. Chickens infected with the isolates and reference strain all showed thymus atrophy and bone marrow yellowing. The mortality rates for CAV-JL16/8901, CAV-HeN19/3001, and the reference strain was 30%, 20%, and 0%, respectively, indicating that the epidemic strains pose a more serious threat to chickens. We not only analyzed the molecular evolution of the epidemic strains but also showed for the first time that the epidemic strains in China are more pathogenic than reference strain Cux-1. Effective measures should be established to prevent the spread of CIA in China.Vibrio parahaemolyticus is a major foodborne pathogen and is also pathogenic to shrimp. Due to the emergence of multidrug-resistant V. parahaemolyticus strains, bacteriophages have shown promise as antimicrobial agents that could be used for controlling antibiotic-resistant strains. Here, a V. parahaemolyticus phage, vB_VpaP_MGD2, was isolated from a clam (Meretrix meretrix) and further characterized to evaluate its potential capability for biocontrol. Podophage vB_VpaP_MGD2 had a wide host range and was able to lyse 27 antibiotic-resistant V. parahaemolyticus strains. A one-step growth curve showed that vB_VpaP_MGD2 has a short latent period of 10 min and a large burst size of 244 phages per cell. GW120918 Phage vB_VpaP_MGD2 was able to tolerate a wide range of temperature (30 °C-50 °C) and pH (pH 3-pH 10). Two multidrug-resistant strains (SH06 and SA411) were suppressed by treatment with phage vB_VpaP_MGD2 at a multiplicity of infection of 100 for 24 h without apparent regrowth of bacterial populations. The frequency of mutations causing bacteriophage resistance was relatively low (3.
