The objective of this study was to determine how coronary computed tomography angiography (CCTA) can be employed to detect coronary artery disease in hospital employees, enabling early treatment and minimizing damage. All employees of our hospital were assessed using the Framingham Risk Score. Those with a 10-year risk of myocardial infarction or death of >10% were offered CCTA; the Coronary Artery Disease Reporting and Data System (CAD-RADS) score was the outcome. A total of 3923 hospital employees were included, and the number who had received CCTA was 309. Among these 309, 31 (10.0%) had a CAD-RADS score of 3-5, with 10 of the 31 (32.3%) requiring further cardiac catheterization; 161 (52.1%) had a score of 1-2; and 117 (37.9%) had a score of 0. In the multivariate logistic regression, only age of ≥ 55 years (p less then 0.05), hypertension (p less then 0.05), and hyperlipidemia (p less then 0.05) were discovered to be significant risk factors for a CAD-RADS score of 3-5. Thus, regular and adequate control of chronic diseases is critical for patients, and more studies are required to be confirmed if there are more significant risk factors. This study aimed to test the effect of a 7-day high-salt (HS) diet on autonomic nervous system (ANS) activity in young healthy individuals and modulation of ANS on microvascular endothelial function impairment. 47 young healthy individuals took 7-day low-salt (LS) diet (3.5 g salt/day) followed by 7-day high-salt (HS) diet (~14.7 g salt/day). ANS activity was assessed by 24-h urine catecholamine excretion and 5-min heart rate variability (HRV). Skin post-occlusive reactive hyperemia (PORH) and acetylcholine-induced dilation (AChID) were assessed by laser Doppler flowmetry (LDF). Separately, mental stress test (MST) at LS and HS condition was conducted, followed by immediate measurement of plasma metanephrines' level, 5-min HRV and LDF microvascular reactivity. Noradrenaline, metanephrine and normetanephrine level, low-frequency (LF) HRV and PORH and AChID significantly decreased following HS compared to LS. MST at HS condition tended to increase HRV LF/HF ratio. Spectral analysis of PORH signal, and AChID measurement showed that MST did not significantly affect impaired endothelium-dependent vasodilation due to HS loading. https://www.selleckchem.com/products/alizarin-red-s.html In this case, 7-day HS diet suppressed sympathetic nervous system (SNS) activity, and attenuated microvascular reactivity in salt-resistant normotensive individuals. Suppression of SNS during HS loading represents a physiological response, rather than direct pathophysiological mechanism by which HS diet affects microvascular endothelial function in young healthy individuals. The traditional Japanese method of wood surface charring was studied. To perform the surface charring, three sawn Norway spruce and Silver fir wood boards of dimension 190 × 24 × 4000 mm3 were tied together to act as a chimney and charred in a short time (3-4 min) with open flame at a temperature above 500 °C. Temperature inside the chimney was recorded on the three different positions during the charring process. Surface temperature of spruce increased from 0 °C to 500 °C in approx. 120-300 s while fir increased in approx. 100-250 s. The thickness of the charred layer and the resulting cupping effect were investigated at the different heights of the chimney to evaluate its variability. Temperature achieved during the charring process was sufficient to get a significant charred layer of 2.5 and 4.5 mm on average for spruce and fir samples, respectively. The analyzed samples showed a significant cupping effect to the charred side with no difference between the annual ring orientation of sawn boards. Spruce exhibit a more significant cupping effect when compared to fir, i.e., 3.2-6 mm and 2.2-4.5 mm, respectively. Furthermore, the pH values of charred samples increased significantly, which could be an indication of improved resistance against wood-decay fungi. For better insight into the traditional charring method, further studies should be carried out to execute the charring process in a consistent quality and therefore fully exploit its potential.Connexin hemichannels allow the unspecific but regulated interchange of molecules from ions to second messenger and ATP, between the eukariotic cell and its extracellular space. The transport of ions and water through hemichannels is important for physiological functions and also in the progression of several pathological conditions. Extracellular Ca2+ concentration is one of the regulators that drives the channel to a closed state. However the relation between their functional and structural states is far for being totally understood. In this work, we modelled connexin hemichannels using simple systems based on a fixed array of carbon atoms and assess the Ca2+ regulation using molecular dynamics simulations. The two proposed mechanism described so far for calcium action were studied combined, e.g., an electrostatic effect and a pore stretching. Our results show that the addition of positive charge density inside the channel cannot stop the flow of potassium, chloride nor water. Only a pore stretching at the center of the pore can explain the channel blocking.Traditional epoxy resin (EP) materials have difficulty to meet the performance requirements in the increasingly complex operating environment of the electrical and electronic industry. Therefore, it is necessary to study the design and development of new epoxy composites. At present, fluorinated epoxy resin (F-EP) is widely used, but its thermal and mechanical properties cannot meet the demand. In this paper, fluorinated epoxy resin was modified by ordered filling of fluorinated graphene oxide (FGO). The effect of FGO interlayer spacing on the thermal and mechanical properties of the composite was studied by molecular dynamics (MD) simulation. It is found that FGO with ordered filling can significantly improve the thermal and mechanical properties of F-EP, and the modification effect is better than that of FGO with disordered filling. When the interlayer spacing of FGO is about 9 Å, the elastic modulus, glass transition temperature, thermal expansion coefficient, and thermal conductivity of FGO are improved with best effect.
