and do not cause cell death. In the view of these results, the usage of appropriate bacterial cultures and the correct stabilization of the formulations are also critical elements in the development of microbial cleaner formulations.
Drug use is inherently related to both beneficial effects on health as well as the occurrence of risks. The beneficial effects may be related to efficacy, the treatment range of a product, or even to user-friendliness of a product. However, in addition to the occurrence of adverse drug reactions, a drug can also have an unexpected beneficial effect on a patient's health, not related to the indication for which the drug was used. The aim of this article is to characterize the reports of unexpected beneficial effects of drugs in the Dutch spontaneous reporting system.

A descriptive analysis was used to gain insight in number of reports and drug classes responsible for unexpected beneficial effects of drugs. Grouping of positive side effects into classes was done by a conventional qualitative content analysis of the cases.

Four hundred nine reports which described unexpected beneficial effects of drugs were included, which mentioned 451 associations between suspected drugs and unexpected beneficial effects"other category". DISCUSSION AND CONCLUSION The analysis showed a diverse spectrum of reported reactions and drugs with some categories of unexpected beneficial effects of drugs mentioned multiple times for certain drug classes on the 4th ATC level. Most of these findings are consistent with the existing literature and knowledge on the pharmacological mechanism of the drugs in question. Coding harmonization would make it possible to study these effects in international databases.Over the past decade, several drugs have been approved for the treatment of relapsed or refractory multiple myeloma (RRMM). This retrospective study, using the French National Healthcare database (SNDS), describes the treatment patterns and outcomes of patients with RRMM treated in real-world clinical practice in France. Patients were adults, with a diagnosis of multiple myeloma, who initiated second-line (2L) treatment approved for use in France between 2014 and 2018; this included bortezomib, carfilzomib, daratumumab, ixazomib, lenalidomide, or pomalidomide. Data were analyzed overall, by first-line (1L) autologous stem cell transplant (ASCT) status and by lenalidomide treatment status at 2L. In total, 12987 patients with RRMM were included in the study (mean age 69.5 years); 27% received an ASCT at 1L, and 30% received a lenalidomide-sparing regimen at 2L. Overall, and among the ASCT and non-ASCT subgroups, most patients received a bortezomib-based regimen at 1L, whereas lenalidomide-based regimens were most common at 2L. Among patients who received a lenalidomide-sparing regimen at 2L, this was most often a proteasome inhibitor-based regimen. Selleck Talabostat Mortality rate was 26.1/100 person-years, and median (95% confidence interval) survival from 2L initiation was 32.4 (31.2-33.6) months. Survival differed by various factors, shorter survival was reported in the non-ASCT group, those receiving a lenalidomide-sparing regimen at 2L, older patients (≥ 70 years), and those with multiple comorbidities. This analysis provides insight into the real-world use of approved novel MM treatments and highlights an ongoing unmet need to improve outcomes, particularly for selected patient groups.
Horizontal instability is a common problem after acromioclavicular joint injuries. The aim of this study was to evaluate if there is a difference regarding horizontal stability between an anatomical and a non-anatomical configuration of the double tunnel coraco-clavicular ligament reconstruction of the acromioclavicular joint.

Thirteen acromioclavicular joints of human cadaveric shoulders in ethanol-glycerin fixation were included in the study and underwent cyclic anterior and posterior translational testing at a load of 70N using an electromechanical uniaxial testing machine. The shoulders were randomly assigned to the following groups double coraco-clavicular tunnel technique in an anatomical configuration (DCTa) and double coraco-clavicular tunnel technique in an inverse configuration of the anatomical position (DCTb). The dislocation was recorded with a 3D optical measuring system.

The total horizontal displacement (p
 = 0.0221; p
= 0.082) was significantly higher for the non-anatomical reconstrunstruction should focus on an anatomically correct position of the suture devices.
It is currently unclear whether management and outcomes of critically ill patients differ between men and women. We sought to assess the influence of age, sex and diagnoses on the probability of intensive care provision in critically ill cardio- and neurovascular patients in a large nationwide cohort in Switzerland.

Retrospective analysis of 450,948 adult patients with neuro- and cardiovascular disease admitted to all hospitals in Switzerland between 01/2012 and 12/2016 using Bayesian modeling.

For all diagnoses and populations, median ages at admission were consistently higher for women than for men [75 (64;82) years in women vs. 68 (58;77) years in men, p < 0.001]. Overall, women had a lower likelihood to be admitted to an intensive care unit (ICU) than men, despite being more severely ill [odds ratio (OR) 0.78 (0.76-0.79)]. ICU admission probability was lowest in women aged > 65years (OR womenmen 0.94 (0.89-0.99), p < 0.001). Women < 45years had a similar ICU admission probability as men limited data available from the registries, our findings suggest that current ICU triage algorithms could benefit from careful reassessment. Further, and ideally prospective, studies are needed to confirm our findings.
A biallelic intronic AAGGG repeat expansion in the Replication Factor C subunit 1 (RFC1) gene has been recently associated with Cerebellar Ataxia, Neuropathy, Vestibular Areflexia Syndrome, a disorder often presenting as a slowly evolving sensory neuropathy at the onset. "Chronic Idiopathic Axonal Polyneuropathy" (CIAP) is a common indolent axonal neuropathy of adulthood which remains without an identifiable cause despite thorough investigations.

We screened 234 probands diagnosed with CIAP for a pathogenic biallelic RFC1 AAGGG repeat expansion. Patients were selected from 594 consecutive patients with neuropathy referred to our tertiary-care center for a sural nerve biopsy over 10years.

The RFC1 AAGGG repeat expansion was common in patients with pure sensory neuropathy (21/40, 53%) and less frequent in cases with predominantly sensory (10/56, 18%, P < 0.001) or sensorimotor (3/138, 2%, P < 0.001) neuropathy. The mutation was associated with sensory ataxia (τ
 = 0.254, P < 0.001), autonomic disturbances (35% vs 8%, Prevalence Odds Ratio-POR 6.
