Grape seed had the highest serum glutathione peroxidase (P  less then  0.05) and catalase (CAT, P  less then  0.01) levels among the treatment groups. The FGS also increased serum CAT level (P  less then  0.01) compared with the AO group. Moreover, dietary FGS supplementation increased Lactobacillus spp. (P  less then  0.05) in the cecum compared with the other treatment groups and decreased Staphylococcus aureus (P  less then  0.05) compared with the CON and AO groups. Our objective was to construct a conceptual framework for assessment of health-related quality of life (HRQL) in calves with respiratory disease, based on indicators suitable for direct pen-side visual observation. Health-related quality of life measures aim to evaluate the subjective experience of the animal rather than any related pathology. A conceptual framework graphically represents the concepts to be measured and the potential relationships between them. A multistage, mixed method approach involving diverse data sources, collection methods and stakeholders was applied to promote comprehensiveness, understanding and validity of findings. A scoping review was conducted to identify, characterize and collate evidence of behavioural indicators of BRD. To expand the scope of our research, we tested the hypothesis that miRNAs previously identified in conceptuses, trophoblasts, endometrium and uterine lumen-derived extracellular vesicles (EVs) collected before Day 20 of pregnancy can show reproductive status-dependent profiles in the serum of cyclic and pregnant crossbred pigs. Custom-designed TaqMan arrays, multiplex real-time reverse transcription (RT)-PCR and real-time RT-PCR allowed us to identify a number of reproductive status-dependent miRNAs in serum samples collected from pigs during the estrous cycle or pregnancy (Days 16 and 20). We found that serum samples were enriched with miRNAs involved in processes important during the estrous cycle and early pregnancy, e.g. cell sensitivity and viability, angiogenesis, embryonic cell proliferation and differentiation. Further validation revealed different abundance of ssc-miR-143-3p and ssc-miR-125b in pregnant and non-pregnant animals and correlation of ssc-miR-125b levels with litter size. In addition, analyzed serum samples contained both EVs and Argonaute2 proteins, which are known to be involved in miRNA transportation and intercellular communication. In summary, we identified several circulating miRNAs that differ in abundance between cyclic and pregnant animals and could serve as potential indicators of reproductive status in pigs during breeding management.
The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of preoperative and postoperative anxiety on the state of recovery in patients undergoing abdominal surgery.

This research is a descriptive and cross-sectional study.

The study included a total of 82 patients undergoing elective abdominal surgery. Demographic data were collected. State-Trait Anxiety Inventory was the measure for anxiety. The quality of recovery (QoR) was assessed using Quality of Recovery Scale (QoR-40). Both have known validity and reliability and valid translations into Turkish. After obtaining consent from patients, 82 patients completed their demographic profile and State-Trait Anxiety Inventory before surgery, and after 24hours of surgery completed the state anxiety and QoR.

Patients who received general anesthesia had higher anxiety before and after surgery (P= .004 and P= .022). Patients who were not informed about the surgery had higher preoperative trait anxiety (P= .01). The QoR scores of the patients were negatively related to preoperative and postoperative state anxiety (P= .
