There are about 13 cases of NEN breast metastases reported in the English literature. The ileum is the most common primary site, followed by the appendix, duodenum, pancreas and lung.

Breast lesions from extramammary primary often pose a diagnostic challenge, since a breast nodule can be the first and often the only presentation of the disease. selleck compound However, differentiating between primary and secondary NEN breast lesions is essential, owing to different clinical management and prognosis.

Cervical cancer is the third most common cancer in India. There is limited data on the treatment of relapsed cervical cancer from India; therefore, we report the outcomes of patients with recurrent cervical cancer who were treated with palliative chemotherapy (CT).

This was a retrospective study of patients with recurrent cervical cancer who received palliative CT from January 2012 to December 2016. The demographic details, clinical profile and survival outcomes were collected. Patients were treated with carboplatin or paclitaxel and carboplatin. Local radiation was given for symptomatic patients. Patients were assessed for responses clinically and/or radiologically after three and six cycles of CT. Progression-free survival (PFS) and overall survival (OS) were calculated using the Kaplan-Meier method.

Forty-six patients with recurrent cervical cancer were included in this analysis, with a median follow-up of 9.4 months. The median age was 49.5 (25-65) years and the median disease-free interval was 31.3limited resources where necessary.
Palliative CT with paclitaxel carboplatin is a safe and effective option in Indian patients with recurrent cervical cancer, with more than half of the patients completing the prescribed CT. Further prospective trials may be required to place this treatment in the right context, in this era of immunotherapy and targeted therapy. However, knowing the outcomes in our population and prognostic factors will help in better prognostication of patients, thereby channelling our limited resources where necessary.
There is a growing body of literature implicating angiotensin II in the modulation of tumour-associated inflammation and pain. However, the impact of angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors (ACEis) and angiotensin II receptor blockers (ARBs) on pain and inflammation has not yet been studied in oral cancers. The objective is to investigate the role of ACEi and ARB pharmacotherapy on preoperative pain and inflammatory biomarkers, neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR), platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio (PLR) and monocyte-to-lymphocyte ratio (MLR), in patients with oral cancer.

We performed a retrospective study on patients who underwent oral cancer surgery. The Wilcoxon rank-sum test or Kruskal-Wallis analysis was used to evaluate differences in demographic, tumour-related and preoperative characteristics and amongst patients using ARBs, ACEis and no treatment. Multivariable analysis was fitted to estimate the effects of important covariates on severe preoperative pain.

A total of 162 patients with oral malignancies were included in the study. After adjusting for significant covariates, patients with perineural invasion were found to have higher levels of pain (
= 0.0278). Similarly, patients taking ARBs were found to have lower levels of perineural invasion (
= 0.035). The analysis did not demonstrate a significant difference in pain levels when comparing ARBs or ACEis to the no treatment group (
= 0.250). Furthermore, the use of ARB or ACEi did not significantly alter preoperative NLR (
= 0.701) or MLR (
= 0.869).

When compared to no treatment, ARBs and ACEis are not associated with significant analgesic effect or decreased inflammatory scores (NLR, PLR and MLR).
When compared to no treatment, ARBs and ACEis are not associated with significant analgesic effect or decreased inflammatory scores (NLR, PLR and MLR).The presence of two or more primary tumours is a relatively uncommon phenomenon. Recently with the improvement of diagnostic modalities, such cases are increasingly reported in the literature. This paper presents a rare case of synchronous breast and renal tumour with unusual features including RCC metastasis to the duodenum and stomach, rapid recurrence of the tumour at the nephrectomy site, rapid renal cell carcinoma growth rate and the rare presence of syncytial-type giant cells in the renal cell tumour.
Twenty-five percent of stage II colon cancer (CC) patients relapse within 5 years due to minimal residual disease (MRD) not eliminated by surgery. We hypothesise that subtypes of MRD, defined by circulating tumour cells (CTCs) and bone marrow micrometastasis (mM), have different types and kinetics of relapse.

One month after surgery, blood and bone marrow samples were taken to detect CTCs and mM using immunocytochemistry with anti-carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA). Follow-up was for up to 5 years or relapse. Disease-free survival curves using Kaplan-Meier (DFS) and restricted mean disease-free survival times (RMST) were calculated for three prognostic groups A MRD (-), B mM (+) CTC (-) MRD and C CTC (+) MRD.

One hundred and eighty-one patients (82 men) have participated, mean age was 68 years and median follow-up was 4.04 years (A (N = 105), B (N = 36) and C (N = 40)). For the whole cohort of 5 years, DFS was 70%, median DFS has not reached (Groups A 98%, B 63% and C 7%) and median DFS for Groups A and B have not reached. RMST for the whole cohort of 4.1 years, Group A was 4.9 years, B was 4.1 years and C was 1.7 years. Serum CEA was significantly higher in Group C. No significant differences for sex, age or high-risk adverse prognostic factors between groups were detected.

MRD subtypes define relapse patterns and may be useful to define the risk of relapse in stage II CC patients, in which patients may benefit or not from additional therapy and warrants further studies with a larger number of patients.
