To analyze the use of the Multidimensional Health Assessment Questionnaire (MDHAQ) to screen for depression, as compared to 2 reference standards, the Patient Health Questionnaire 9 (PHQ-9) and the Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale depression domain (HADS-D).
Patients from Barcelona with a primary diagnosis of rheumatoid arthritis (RA) or spondyloarthritis (SpA) completed the MDHAQ, the PHQ-9 (depression ≥10), and the HADS-D (depression ≥8) measures. The MDHAQ includes 2 depression items, 1 in the patient-friendly HAQ, scored in a 4-point format from 0 to 3.3, and a yes/no item on a 60-symptom checklist. Percentage agreement and kappa statistics quantified the agreement between 6 screening criteria yes on the 60-symptom checklist, a score of ≥1.1, a score of ≥2.2 on a 4-point scale, and either a response of yes on the 60-symptom checklist or scores of ≥2.2, PHQ-9 ≥10, and HADS-D ≥8.

In this pilot study we tested the potential effects of AOT on the reorganization of the motor system by functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI). As part of a randomized trial, eight subjects (age range 6.2-14.5 years) with congenital hemiplegia were randomly assigned to an experimental (EG) or control (CG) group. All children underwent a clinical and neurophysiological assessment with Assisting Hand Assessment (AHA), MRI, and fMRI at baseline (T0), 1(T1), and 8(T2) weeks after the end of 3-week treatment. For the EG, AOT consisted in the observation of uni/bimanual goal-directed actions followed by their execution. CG watched same-duration computer games and then performed the same actions in the same order used in the EG. fMRI study was carried out using two different paradigms, for exploring sensory-motor network (SMN) localization and action observation network (AON). see more The pattern of brain activation was generally similar between T0 and T1 for both groups, while it was more widespread at T2, compared to T0 and T1, in the EG. There is clinical evidence for impaired lung function in chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps (CRSwNP) patients, which may be due to a high incidence of asthma comorbidity. The lung function characteristics of non-asthmatic CRSwNP patients are not known. Small airway dysfunction (SAD) is involved in the pathogenesis of asthma. However, whether SAD is detected in non-asthmatic patients with CRSwNPs remains unclear.
This study analysed the lung function of non-asthmatic patients with CRSwNPs and evaluated its clinical relevance in CRSwNPs.
The clinical data for 191 consecutive CRSwNP patients (73 asthmatic and 118 non-asthmatic) and 30 control subjects were prospectively collected. The patients were followed up for at least 3years (mean [standard deviation], 42.47±8.38months). Serum and tissue total IgE levels were measured in 95 and 93 patients, respectively. Tissue eosinophil counts were documented in 63 patients.
Non-asthmatic CRSwNP patients had decreased forced expiratory flow at 75% of the FVC (FEF
) and FEF
compared to the control subjects, and this difference was related to the severity of CRSwNP.
