intraoral soft tissue lipomas are relatively uncommon mesenchymal neoplasms. Few papers have been published comparing the clinicopathological features of these tumors in different populations. The aim of the present study was to analyze the clinicopathological features from intraoral soft tissue lipomas diagnosed in a Brazilian population.

all cases diagnosed as intraoral soft tissue lipomas in an Oral Pathology laboratory from 2005 to 2019 were retrieved and descriptively analyzed; statistical analysis was performed for comparison of the clinical and demographic parameters.

91 intraoral lipomas were retrieved, including 56 lipomas, 30 fibrolipomas, 2 spindle cell lipomas, 2 angiolipomas, and 1 chondrolipoma. Mean age of the patients was 62.2 years and females represented 57.1% of the sample. Mean time of complaint was 45.4 months and mean size of the lesions was 16.2 millimeters. Buccal mucosa (38.8%), lower lip (18.8%) and tongue (16.5%) were the most commonly affected locations. Fibrolipomas were more common in females (p=0,037) and presented as smaller lesions (p=0,011) in comparison to lipomas.

Few studies have reported the outcomes of immediate placement at infected post-extraction sites. The aim of this study was to compare clinical and radiological outcomes of immediately placed implants with immediate prosthetic provisionalization in sockets with or without acute periapical pathology.

A total of 100 patients with immediately placed implants with immediate provisionalization and 1- year of follow up were included (50 patients with acute periapical pathology and a control group of 50 patients without acute periapical pathology). Clinical parameters (bleeding on probing, buccal keratinized mucosa width, clinical recession, and probing depth) and radiological parameters (distance from implant shoulder to first point of bone-to-implant contact [IS-BIC]) were assessed.

Clinical parameters showed no significant differences between the study and control groups after 1-year follow up (p>0.05). IS-BIC presented the following values 0.35 ± 0.51 mm (study group) and 0.15 ± 0.87 mm (control), without significant differences between the groups (p=0.160). None of the 50 radiographs of immediate implants placed in sockets with periapical pathology revealed retrograde peri-implantitis.

To study the association between sleep quality and oral health related variables, which still have conflicts in the literature.

This was a population-based case-control study between subjects with versus without sleep disorders from the Brazilian Public Health System (SUS), city of Maringá (N=1,643). Subjects answered self-reported questionnaires a) Research Diagnostic Criteria for Temporomandibular Disorders (RDC/TMD), b) Sleep Assessment Questionnaire (SAQ) and c) North York Dental Health Survey (NYDHS).

No significant difference was found for gender, marital status, or income; however, non-Caucasians, people with lower levels of education, and those between 20 to 50 years old had worse scores of sleep disorders in the SAQ. Self-perceived oral health, masticatory capacity to eat foods, and gingival bleeding was significantly worse among subjects with self-reported sleep disorders. Prospective evaluation of the intermediate splint dental vertical penetration in patients undergoing bimaxillary surgery where great sagittal discrepancy occur in the anterior sector between the upper and lower jaws when the intermediate splint is placed by adding an extra intermaxillary fixation (IMF) screw (2x9 mm) placed between the central incisors of the maxilla and fixed to the most anterior aspect of the intermediate splint following the direction of the sagittal maxillo-mandibular discrepancy from January to September 2018.
