The aim of this experiment was to evaluate the effects of reducing forage quantity and access time on dairy performance and animal nutritional status during indoor feeding. For this reason, the present work aimed to determine if GSTM3 could predict sperm quality and in vivo fertility in this species. Sperm quality was assessed with flow cytometry and computer-assisted sperm analysis. Immunoblotting and immunofluorescence analysis were performed to determine the presence and localisation pattern of sperm GSTM3. This enzyme was found to be present in bovine sperm and to be localised along the sperm tail and the equatorial segment of the head. No significant associations between sperm GSTM3 and sperm quality parameters were observed, except a negative association with morphologically abnormal sperm having a coiled tail. In addition, and more relevant, higher levels of GSTM3 in sperm were seen in bulls showing lower in vivo fertility rates. In conclusion, our data evidenced the presence of GSTM3 in bovine sperm. Moreover, we suggest that, despite not being associated with sperm quality, GSTM3 might be an in vivo subfertility biomarker in cattle sperm, and that high levels of this protein could be an indicative of defective spermatogenesis and/or epididymal maturation.Barlow's Disease affects the entire mitral valve apparatus causing mitral regurgitation. Uniformly dispersed Ag nanoparticles (ca. 80 nm) and hydroxyoxime molecules were synchronously decorated on the skeleton of the polyvinylidene fluoride membrane via an in situ interfacial assembly strategy. HOX@Ag-PVDF shows excellent SERS activity (EF = 2.5 × 107), high reproducibility (~8% RSD), and long-term stability (50 days) for detecting 4-nitrothiophenol (4-NTP). Moreover, HOX@Ag-PVDF can serve as a new platform for rapid and dry-free SERS detection of Cu(II) owing to its strong affinity and surface hydrophobicity. Cu(II) ions can be rapidly captured in 5 s and selectively recognized by SERS signals without interference from other metal ions. HOX@Ag-PVDF exhibits linear SERS response signals at low concentrations ranging from 10-6 to 10-10 mol/L Cu(II) (R2 = 0.9893) with a low detection limit (LOD) of 52.0 pmol/L. This hydrophobic plasmonic membrane, with its simple sampling and rapid SERS response characteristics, provides ultrasensitive recognition and heavy metal detection for practical applications.This study explored chlorinated paraffin (CP)-degrading bacteria from the marine environment. Aequorivita, Denitromonas, Parvibaculum, Pseudomonas and Ignavibacterium were selected as the dominant genera after enrichment with chlorinated paraffin 52 (CP52) as the sole carbon source.
