Mobile health (mHealth) technology is an increasingly recognized and effective method for disease management and has the potential to intervene in pulmonary function, exacerbation risk, and psychological status of patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).

This study aimed to investigate the feasibility of an mHealth-based COPD management system designed for Chinese remote areas with many potential COPD patients but limited medical resources.

The system was implemented based on a tailored closed-loop care pathway that breaks the heavy management tasks into detailed pieces to be quantified and executed by computers. Low-cost COPD evaluation and questionnaire-based psychological intervention are the 2 main characteristics of the pathway. A 6-month prospective observational study at the community level was performed to evaluate the effect of the system. Primary outcomes included changes in peak expiratory flow values, quality of life measured using the COPD assessment test scale, and psychd frequent communication with health care providers may encourage patients' acceptance and use of smartphones to support COPD self-management. In addition, WeChat might play an important role in improving patient compliance and psychological distress. Further research might explore the effect of such systems on a larger scale and at a higher evidence level.

A platform which can combine performance data from a basic life support (BLS) serious game app and hands-on data based on the same scoring system is not available in the market. The aim of this study was to create such a platform and investigate whether performance evaluation of BLS trainings would be more objective compared to conventional Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE) examinations if these evaluations were carried out with the platform which combines OSCE scoring criteria with sensor data retrieved from the simulator's sensors.

For each staff member, the required levels of competency have to be precisely defined and evaluated after a period of formation before the final habilitation for the IIF technique. The French group of the international group called EASI (European autoimmunity standardisation initiative) proposes two habilitation forms to be filled with criteria, evidence and maintenance of target skills for the IIF preparation of slides and reading. Infections are a classic cause of hemophagocytic syndrome. Hemophagocytic syndromes secondary to HIV are rare, and those that reveal HIV infection are even rarer. Observation we report the case of a 60-year-old man admitted to the emergency room of the Avicenna military hospital for consciousness disorder in a feverish context. We found laboratory abnormalities including pancytopenia, hyperferritinemia and hepatic cytolysis. Hemophagocytosis was present confirming the diagnosis of hemophagocytic syndrome. Viral serologies are requested including that of HIV which came back positive. Conclusion HIV and hemophagocytic syndrome give non-specific signs common to both pathologies, hence the underdiagnosis of their association.In order to propose a course of action to be taken in the face of any hyperhomocysteinemia, we have reported for the first time in a French journal the recommendations made within the framework of the European E-HOD project for the diagnosis and treatment of remethylation disorders. The remethylation route ensures homocysteine-methionine conversion. It is linked to the folate cycle and the intracellular metabolism of cobalamins. Remethylation disorders can be classified into three groups 1) isolated disorders (cblD-HC, cblE, cblG) corresponding to an isolated deficit in the production of methylcobalamin, cofactor of methionine synthase; 2) combined disorders (cblC, cblD-MMA/HC, cblF, cblJ) corresponding to an alteration of the transport and intracellular metabolism of cobalamins, which causes a defect in the synthesis of the two functional forms of cobalamin methylcobalamin and adenosylcobalamin, a cofactor for methyl malonylCoA mutase; 3) MTHFR deficit, an abnormality of the folate cycle. The biological anomalies observed are hyperhomocysteinemia and hypomethioninaemia associated in the case of disorders combined with increased urinary excretion of methylmalonic acid. The clinical presentation is however heterogeneous according to the remethylation disorder but also for the same pathology according to the age. Given the large number of pathologies grouped together in remethylation disorders, this point is illustrated by only two clinical cases concerning the same deficit (deficit in MTHFR) but with different discovery circumstances a neonatal form and a late form.
We aimed to evaluate the efficacy of and immunologic changes caused by subcutaneous immunotherapy (SCIT) in patients with allergy to cat and dog.

Patients presenting rhinitis and/or asthma with allergy to cat or dog from a previous safety study were included. All had specific IgE to cat and/or dog. Using an infusion pump (IP), SCIT maintenance dose was administered over one 4-hour session, followed by monthly administration over 6 months. Data were gathered on clinical outcomes, pulmonary function, FeNO, rhinitis and asthma symptoms, quality of life (QoL), asthma control test (ACT), and symptom visual analog scale (VAS) at baseline and then at 1, 3, and 6 months. Specific IgE and IgG antibody responses to different cat and dog allergens were determined.

Sixty-one patients having a mean age of 35.6 ± 9.7 years were included, 40 of whom underwent cat SCIT. selleck chemical A significant improvement was observed in rhinitis and asthma symptoms and in QoL, use of medication, VAS, and ACT at 1 month; these improvements persisted at month 6.
