The dentin matrix swelling ratio was estimated using fully demineralized dentin. Dentin wettability was assessed on wet, dry and re-wetted dentin surfaces through water contact angle measurements. Microtensile bond strength test (TBS) was performed with experimental adhesives containing 6% HEMA (H
) and 18% HEMA (H
) and a commercial dental adhesive. Data were statistically analyzed using ANOVA and post-hoc tests (α = 0.05).

The enzymatic removal of PGs was confirmed by the absence and fragmentation of GAGs. There was statistically significant difference between the swelling ratio of Try-treated and control dentin (p < 0.001). Significantly lower contact angle was found for Try-treated on wet and dry dentin (p < 0.002). The contact angle on re-wet dentin was not recovered in Try-treated group (p = 0.9). Removal of PGs significantly improved the TBS of H
(109% higher, p < 0.001) and H
(29% higher, p = 0.002) when compared to control. The TBS of commercial adhesive was not affected by trypsin treatment (p = 0.9).

The purpose of our study is to evaluate the three-dimensional biomechanical properties of "Barrel Hoop plate" in two kinds of artificial posterolateral tibial plateau fracture fragment (PLF) by using of synthetic models, each of which has an initial amplifying displacement tendency.

Lateral humeral condyle fracture is one of the most common fractures in children. However, the prediction of the stability of the fracture with a cutoff displacement of 2 mm remains controversial. The aim of this study was to evaluate the reliability of the routine cutoff displacement of 2 mm in predicting the stability of paediatric lateral humeral condyle fractures.

A cohort of 79 children with imaging results for lateral humeral condyle fractures from 2013 to 2019 was evaluated. The displacement on the radiographs was measured by three surgeons at different levels, and ultrasound images were obtained by two senior surgeons. The interobserver and intraobserver reliability was assessed by the intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC). A binarylogistic regressionmodel and receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves were used to evaluate the association between the measurement and the integrity of cartilage hinges.

The ICC for the interobserver reliability was 0.85, and the intraobserver reliability was 0.93. For each additional millimetre of displacement, the odds of cartilage hinge disruption increased by 70%. The ROC curve determined that the Youden index was only 0.07 (sensitivity, 97.8%; specificity, 8.8%) with a cutoff displacement of 2 mm.

Cortical neuron degenerative process underlying upper motor neuron involvement in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) spreads to extra-motor regions as disease progresses. This is associated with cognitive and behavioural worsening in more severe disease stages. However, the clinical variability of ALS patients might reflect different cortical involvement in extra-motor areas.

To investigate cortical thinning across disease stages in ALS patients accounting for their cognitive/behavioural impairment.

Thirty-six ALS patients (17 with cognitive/behavioural impairment, ALSimp) and 26 healthy controls underwent structural 3T magnetic resonance imaging. Cortical thickness was measured with a region-wise approach. The King's Clinical Staging System was used to determine disease stages. The Jonckheere-Terpstra test tested for trends in cortical thinning and cognitive involvement across disease stages.

Significant trends toward cortical atrophy across disease stages were found in bilateral frontal and cingular cortex, left temporal gyrus and right occipital gyrus of ALS patients, consistently with cognitive impairment in phonemic fluency, language, verbal episodic memory and social cognition.
