At the time when the questionnaire was completed, 743 (90%) communicators were regularly transmitting data. The service was generally deemed useful (96% of respondents) in facilitating the activation of RM during the COVID-19 pandemic and possibly beyond.
Home delivery of the communicator proved to be a successful approach to system activation, and received positive feedback from clinicians. The increased use of a RM protocol will reduce risks for both providers and patients, while maintaining high-quality care.

CX-5461 mouse The objective of the present study was to investigate the development mechanisms of senescence dark spots of the "Khai" (Musa AA group) banana peel in relation to chlorophyll degradation and stomata cell death. Freshly harvested bananas (commercial mature green stage) were let to ripened at 25 ± 2°C (90%-95% RH). Peel color, senescent spots, DNA degradation, chlorophyll content, chlorophyll-degrading enzyme activities were assessed. The senescent dark spots developed on the ripened bananas right after 6 days of storage, which coincided with remarkably increased DNA degradation, and a rapid decreased of hue angle value and total chlorophyll content which indicated the chlorophyll degradation. The activities of chlorophyllase, chlorophyll-degrading peroxidase and pheophytinase increased gradually to the highest point where the chlorophyll content drastically reduced and the appearance of the dark spots was first recorded after 6 days of storage. These dark spots were observed to be surrounded with a bright luminescent ring of hypermodified fluorescent chlorophyll catabolites (FCCs), the product of chlorophyll breakdown. Additionally, the scanning electron microscope (SEM) revealed that the dark spots were found to have originated from the collapsed cells around the stomata of the ripened banana peel whereby the chlorophyll was entirely diminished. PRACTICAL APPLICATIONS This research revealed the senescent dark spot development mechanisms of the "Khai" banana peel. The dark spot development symptom on the banana peel surface was caused by the senescence and cell death of the relevant stomata, further associated with chlorophyll degradation. Therefore, any further research into minimizing the dark spot symptom must focus on preventing or delaying stomata senescence and cell death.
Central line-associated bloodstream infections (CLABSIs) lead to significant morbidity and mortality in children with intestinal failure (IF). Ethanol lock prophylaxis (ELP) greatly reduces CLABSI frequency with minimal side effects. However, in the United States, a recently approved orphan drug designation for dehydrated alcohol has greatly increased 70% ethanol cost from about $10/day to $1000/day. We examined the cost-effectiveness of ELP in relation to these changes.
We simulated a previously developed IF Markov model over 1 year. Costs were measured in 2020 US dollars and effectiveness in quality-adjusted life-years (QALYs). CLABSI rate with and without ELP was estimated from the largest available comparative observational study. The primary outcome was incremental cost-effectiveness ratio (ICER) between treatments. Secondary outcomes included CLABSI frequency. Sensitivity analyses on all model parameters were performed.
In the base model, children with IF not using ELP accumulated $131,815 in costs and 0.32 QALYs per patient compared with $437,884 and 0.33 QALYs per patient in those using ELP. The ICER was nearly $17 million/QALY gained. ELP resulted in a 40% reduction in CLABSI frequency. ELP became cost-effective at $68/day and cost-saving at $63/day. Sensitivity analysis identified no other plausible parameter variation to reach the benchmark of $100,000/QALY gained.
At the current price, ELP is not cost-effective for CLABSI prevention in children with IF in the United States. This study highlights the critical need for the approval of an affordable lock therapy option to prevent CLABSIs in these children.

A 5 and 10 μm thin silicon on insulator (SOI) 3D mushroom microdosimeter was used to characterize both the in-field and out-of-field of a 62 MeV proton beam.
The SOI mushroom microdosimeter consisted of an array of cylindrical sensitive volumes (SVs), developed by the Centre for Medical Radiation Physics, University of Wollongong, was irradiated with 62 MeV protons at the CATANA (Centro di AdroTerapia Applicazioni Nucleari Avanzate) facility in Catania, Italy, a facility dedicated to the radiation treatment of ocular melanomas. Dose mean lineal energy, (
y
D
¯
), values were obtained at various depths in PMMA along a pristine and spread out Bragg peak (SOBP). The measured microdosimetric spectra at each position were then used as inputs into the modified Microdosimetric Kinetic Model (MKM) to derive the RBE for absorbed dose in a middle of the SOBP 2Gy (RBE
). Microdosimetric spectra were obtained with both the 5 and 10 μm 3D SOI microdosith Geant4 simulation.
These results demonstrate that SOI microdosimeters are an effective tool to predict RBED in-field as well as dose equivalent monitoring out-of-field to provide insight to probability of second cancer generation.

Therefore, the current systematic review and meta-analysis aimed to evaluate the impacts of spirulina supplementation on oxidative stress indicators and inflammatory markers. PubMed-Medline, SCOPUS, Web of Science, Embase databases and Google Scholar were searched up to 1 October 2020. Random-effect analysis was applied to perform meta-analysis. Subgroup analyses and multivariate meta-regression were performed to find heterogeneity sources. Quality assessment was conducted using Cochrane Collaboration's tool. A total of 11 studies that enrolled 465 subjects were included in our meta-analysis. Pooled results demonstrated a significant increase in interleukin-2 (IL-2) concentrations [Standardized mean difference (SMD = 2.69 pg/mL; 95% CI 0.26, 5.11; P = .03)]; however this result changed to insignificant (SMD = 0.54 pg/mL; 95% CI -1.29, 2.27; P > .05) when sensitivity analysis performed. A marginal decreasing effect were also found on interleukin-6 (IL-6) (SMD = -0.
