Alannis adalah anak tunggal dari pasangan Arnold Sheppley dan Veronica Sheppley (nee Fields). Hidup alannis bahagia, mempunyai keluarga yang sangat menyayangi dan peduli padanya tapi setelah ayahnya naik jabatan dikementerian sihir dan butik milik ibunya berkembang pesat, mereka jadi tidak pernah punya waktu untuk Alannis, apapun yang Alannis inginkan memang diberikan tapi tidak dengan waktu mereka. Ayah dan ibunya sering bertengkar karena keduanya saling menyalahkan satu sama lain karena kesibukan mereka yang membuat tidak ada yang memiliki waktu untuk merawat anaknya.
Alannis pernah patah hati karena kekasihnya yang mengkhianatinya dengan temannya sendiri.
