How to Fix a Key Scratch on Your Car

If you've got an important scratch on your car that you want to fix, there are several options available. Mobile auto detailing experts can fix the scratch and restore the appearance of your car.

1. Take off the cap from the key.

These keys are attached to a support bar made of steel that could be easily damaged when you're not cautious. After you've put the keycaps all over the keyboard, press down on the keys to test them. You should hear a click, and feel the key pressing down normally when it's reattached properly. If you do not, you may have to try reattaching it again or consult a professional.

2. Clean the key

Keys can feel mushy and sticky for a variety of reasons and the most common is that it's not properly set in its base or the key mechanism. The easiest solution to fix this problem is to make use of a flathead screwdriver or butter knife to pry the corner of the key off. You'll hear a click when the key falls off, and you can then clean it using water or alcohol to clean it. If your keys are rusty you can clean them using salt and lemon, or put them in the solution of water and vinegar to remove iron particles that cause the rust.

There are a variety of products that you can buy with an emulsifying gel consistency which can be laid down over your keyboard and removed to get rid of any loose debris from between your keys.

If your key is sticky or mushy, even after you've tried the solutions above, it might be time to replace it. This can be a simple or complex process, depending on the type of keys. It may be necessary to disassemble the entire key mechanism to remove the old one and replace it with the new one.

3. Reattach the keycap
